To be honest, it appears that they do fall under the FAR's, the FAA has just declined to pursue enforcement. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.

$10 full altitude jumps at Lodi on Sundays
diablopilot replied to 4dbill's topic in Events & Places to Jump
In what way is this an event, rather than just advertising? ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously. -
Sure I would, and I'll bet it and other modifications have been considered. However, the act of "moving the tail" is not a simple task. It amounts to a near re-design and engineering of the entire aircraft and most certainly a re-certification of the aircraft. No one is suggesting changes other jump aircraft, they are instead simply using them in the way they must in order to be successful as designed. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. You didn't say some. Without specifying, the implication is all (or at least that's most people's inference), or the overwhelming majority. So -- when someone says "hispanics are illegal" or "asians are smarter" or "southerners are prejudiced" it uses those terms as determining characteristics of the population, rather than a characteristic of some members. And, in most cases, it's a characteristic of some members. I know stupid Asians. I know southerners who aren't prejudiced. I know legal hispanics. In fact, while I know more smart than stupid asians (mostly because I know more smart than stupid people), the majority of the folks in these groups I interact with don't fit those stereotypes. OK, that was a long-ass post. You could infer from that that all liberals are wordy, or just that I'm a pedant Wendy P. Wendy, this newby is just another neo-con who drops one-liners and runs, don't put a whole lot on his posts. You won't see him empirically debate an issue; he's our forum cheerleader http://images.paraorkut.com/img/funnypics/images/g/gay_cheerleader-12791.jpg Pot, meet Kettle. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. It's more of an "assisting the meat off the airplane" type maneuver. I believe it had a whole lot of rudder involved and "motivates" the airplane away from the jumpers unless they have super human strength. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Exactly as stated the powers that be wrote a rather harshly worded letter advising the owner of uspanationals.com to cease and desist. So much for the USPA allowing Nationals to be promoted. IMO, and ONLY my opinion, there is some politicing going on here. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.

There was a large amount of testing done above and beyond the testing required for the FAA when the PAC got to the US. They included stacking increasing amounts of weight in the back of the aircraft and flying different profiles. They and manufacturer testing showed the PAC has a much wider C of G range that any other jump plane, which is why it is so stable and can fly so slow. You can do 8 ways (9 w/video) all day long from the PAC, as long as you keep the airspeed at 80-85 kts. There-in lies the problem. Pilots get too comfortable flying too slow on jump run then they get caught behind the power curve. But the PAC is NOT more susceptible to stalls. For the record, the PAC tail is 8” lower than a Caravan tail and 18” further aft. And on jump run, with flaps at 20, the tail is considerably high than a Caravan’s. Here's an example of jumpers successfully using that aircraft as intended. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r3WJZ5gz1HE ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Need feedback from skydivers who use smoke.

Make it easier to use, shield my foot from heat better, and cost less than the $5 each I spent to make the ones I use now. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously. -
And I'll add I have seen an example of a stall and improper control/use of just about every modern jump plane in the US. I have seen Tail strikes on Otters, King Airs, 99's, 182's, 206's, Caravan's..... I have been in stalls in the same aircraft, plus a few.... ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.

Pilot lisence required to operate jumpship
diablopilot replied to potatoman's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Additionally if the "DZ" in Corpus in fact falls under the FAA's definition of a "Demo" (i.e. assembly of people, congested area) then the Waiver of authorization can contain all sorts conditions created or interpreted by the FSDO. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. I have more than 1000 exits from PAC's and if flown properly, there is little risk of a tail strike. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.

Question About BASE Jumping
diablopilot replied to BBowden85's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
IMO there is one thing you should be doing to prepare for BASE. Ask yourself why you want to BASE. If it takes you less than a week to answer that question, you're not done. Find a copy of the BASE fatality list, and make sure you read and understand it before you answer that question. Find some BASE jumpers, (they should be difficult to find, if they are not then they are not the right ones) and ask them why they jump. Your best bet to find them is to learn to skydive and wait. Relax, become a good skydiver, and if you're right for BASE, and they are the right ones to teach it, they will find you. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are.
