  1. Im 20 lbs lighter then when I started on this canopy, thats why I was thinking it would be okay, since I didnt downsize when I lost the weight. However you make a valid point and I will start off lower and add to it. Is there an amount of jumps I should min do with the half before I could considering going to the whole? I was wondering if you had jumped that canopy at a higher wingloading. It seemed pretty light. I'd say make a jump or two with 6 and then add a few. See how that goes and how your comfort level is. Even if I learn to fly mantis and stop the AFF position (yes 60 jumps and I still fly in that AFF frame, just now learning to create less drag)? Also I plan, once I get my jump numbers up get into FF. Thank you for the advice. I know this is adding something to my skydives and I really dont want to jump the gun and move to fast with it, I just want to be able to dive out and get to people without them having to work twice as hard to stay up there with me. At this point Id jump with cans of corn stuck in my socks if it would help me fall at 125 ish Remi is right, if you need weights, you need weights. Nothing wrong with that. 12 may be a bit much. You can make sure you have the right jumpsuit for your body (i.e. low drag), and work on body position (easy to do in the tunnel), but you still may need weight to do RW. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.
  2. Unless you've jumped weight before, please don't. Start with 4 to 6 and then increase from there. It's not freefall I'm thinking of, but canopy flight. 12 lbs will dramaticly change the way your canopy flys and lands. Trust me, I have worn up to 30 for performance landings and weight makes a huge difference. 1lbs and 2lbs packets work together well to let you hit the desired weight easily. Wearing weight will not help you with this goal. Tubular nylon works well. Or just make cordura pouches. If you're worried about the lead, steel shot is avaliable. If you want to save some money and are not worried about the lead, ask a skeet range about reclaimed shot. It's ALOT cheeper. Still a huge jump. Make it in stages. Nonsense. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.
  3. Most skydivers, by the time they are leagal to travle to other DZ's have at least an Alti, Helmet, goggles, and jumpsuit, all of which travel nicely. Some DZ's do charge, some don't, but it's really your responsibility to make sure you're outfitted correctly. Why should they spend a ton of money for jumpers paying regular jump ticket prices to provide gear that gets easily lost, walked off with, and broken? ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. 4. Eh? Didn't you get to both fly in a heated tunnel, and go snowboarding? ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.

  8. Glad I'm not the only one that picked up on that. Have you seen Justi on the bridgeday video this year?? I don't think you have to worry about her doing an illegal one for a while!! .....She did do awesome...even if she doesn't remember it!! I haven't seen it, but I'm glad she did well!
  9. Blindfolds and ball gags. Hanging harnesses. Suddenly, RL! ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.

  11. The Z1 has been around for 10 years, the Mamba for maybe 2. The Mamba is a signifigant improvement on the Z1, in terms of quality of build and materials used in construction. Bonehead is a US manufacturer based in Perris, CA, and for all those reasons I'd sugest the Mamba. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.

  14. Hmmmm....is anyone making a BASE canopy with "Flares" for line attachment points? ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.
  15. Standard pro-pack, with a big push back of the nose, followed by pulling the slider out infront of the nose a few inches. Works fine. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.
  16. Well I'm not trying to be harsh now, but.... In the first sceen, the secondary camera man passes over the tandem pair. Bad move. A deployment at that time would have the possibility of killing 3 people. Student's do weird shit, including deploy high. NEVER get over the tandem pair. On a non-safety note, if the TI were to arch a bit more, that rocking would go away. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.
  17. Sure about that? ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.
  18. It's still an aircraft. Trust me, I have worked around these things for the past 15 years. the pilots have license awarded to them byt the FAA after meetig requirements and taking test and check rides. Who said anything about a pilot. Very good. How do you suppose that the thing gets airborn? Even if the pilot isn't in the baket. Oh heck, hadn't you heard? Every skydiver worth their salt can get an aircraft off the ground. At least that's what they tell the pilots when they won't fly in bad weather...... ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.

  20. It is absolutly worth it. I'd suggest your friends opinion might be frustration. It's hard to be humbled when you assume you should do well at something. If you wish to visit our tunnel in CO I'd be happy to help you. As for head down, it really isn't the end all, be all of the tunnel. It's cool and all but you lean more from transitions and upright flying. The flow is as such: You'll need to show basic control on your belly (right and left turn, foward and backward motion, and vertical control) then learn the same thing on your back. Back flying is not only fun, but really shows you how to use body parts you'd never thought of using before. Then the progression moves onto sit. Same sort of control is required, then followed by front flips, back flips, and cartwheels. After that (the begining of all transitions) then one can start on supported head down in the tunnel. It will take some time to get to that point, but just doing a simple 15 minute session can do wonders for your skydiving. I had 3000+ skydives prior to starting to work, fly, and instruct in the tunnel, and I can fly circles around the "old" me. The same body positions work in both the air and tunnel, don't let anyone fool you on that point. What you learn in the tunnel will give you MUCH more range and ability in the air. PM me or e-mail jp@skyventurecolorado.com any time you have more questions. Edit: Maybe to be able to back fly as well as one belly flys, but most people pick up the basics in less than 15 minutes. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are.
