  1. I believe that NZ Aerosports and subsequently the orginal incarnation of Icarus Canopies used the PIA established measuring method (circa 1999, 2000) like everyone else in the industry EXCEPT PD. This measuring method was created by the canopy manufacturing members of the PIA. Circa 2001 or so, Simon Mundell authorized a change in the measuring of Icarus Canopies measuring to parallel that of PD. His decision was in conflict with the previous manufacturing methods used by Icarus and NZ Aerosports. It was a major disservice to the company. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.
  2. In the end 100% input. As an instructor you simply refuse to get on the aircraft if there is any concern about the saftey of your student. Hopefully the operation has much better lines of comunication than that however. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.
  3. Why bother with anything other than a temp pin. Neither system can be legally used for it's intended purpose without the RSL. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.
  4. Careful with that line of logic. Before you know it, lofts will need to be inspected and approved facilities if you continue down that road. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.

  6. Isn't that what a properly tuned DBS is for? ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.
  7. No. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.
  8. Was that a skyhook deployment? 150 feet from cutaway to open reserve is pretty damn fast. I would say that is pretty normal for a breakaway from a slow speed malfunction without a SkyHook. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.
  9. That makes me wonder if it is even a completely legal alteration! BS, MEL If the manufaturer did the work and documented it, I think it is safe to assume it is. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.
  10. Hey now. Some of us manage to make 12 jumps when at a boogie for 8 days.... Gotcha beat. LP 02'. 9 jumps 8 days. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.
  11. Give ya a 1000 bucks for it. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.
  12. Finally. Someone who gets it. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.
  13. I don't jump an R-Max, and they don't incorporate new technology. With all the respect possible, I applaud PD for taking this step, however experience and a look back at history tells me to watch carefully for the unexpected that occurs in the regular marketplace. I am not opposed to new technology, just prefer to have an "out". I was eager to embrace HMA, but would not have been so eager had it been on my reserve. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.
  14. The "past"? How far back is the "past?" Say some time ago, like just after Steve Irwin's Memorial ended up on YouTube? Kristian I've heard alot about you, and would love to meet you sometime, but I would say we have a different view on "burnt" and "mellow". Have fun, I hope to be jumping the tower again soon. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.
  15. Not me, I know you're an asshole I know, huh. The worst. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.

  17. I'd hate to put words in Brian's mouth, but..... When using brakes there is a dramatic reduction in the speed the canopy is flying, this causing the suspended weight (you) to swing foward, affecting the pitch of the system. With rear risers the speed change is much more gradual, however you are re-trimming the wing without causing the suspended weight to swing forward so radically. This immediately changes the AOA relative to the airflow prior to the riser input. If done suddenly without allowing the system to come back towards equilibrium, this can cause a violent stall. Of course this is just my interpretation..... ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.
  18. Some of us learnt from groundcrewing for years before even registering on these silly forums... I know exactly what that is like. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.
  19. Awwww..... This is what I got for those people anyway.. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.

  21. I have good traits though. Like....ummmm.....er...... someone wanna help me out here? ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.
  22. I'm an asshole. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.
  23. Don't know who you are either. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.
  24. As an AFF instructor I don't advise more than 3 AFF levels in one day. I think jumper retention goes down and fatigue is too high. Many AFF students say they feel fine, but I suspect they are not objectively viewing their performance, or listening to their body. Have fun, see ya soon.
  25. I wouldn't jump it. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.
