There is a cost for everything.
diablopilot replied to diablopilot's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I'm just frustrated with the type of person that comes up and expects you to make a copy of a video you shot of them when they don't even know you, and then gets upset because you ask for 10 bucks or even for them to bring you a VHS tape. Or the jumper that jumper that calls you a dick behind your back because you won't do a "quick repair" because "it'll only take five minutes" when they don't even know enough to turn a sewing machine on, and then get's pissed when you charge more than $5 for 30 minutes of work. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. "TANSTAAFL" said Mr. Heinlein, meaning "There ain't no such thing as a free lunch". Jumpers who complain about the costs of skydiving usually get little sympathy from me as they seem to be the "entitlement generation" types. For example. There are a couple ways to learn how to pack. 1. Make friends, they will probably help you out. But it will take time and effort, and you might have to listen carefuly and be interested in learning. Maybe practice and do some studying, and be willing to accept some critique. 2. Pay someone $50 to $100 to spend 4 to 8 hours with you. Nothing is EVER free. Just because it doesn't take money doesn't mean you are not paying for it. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously. -

Sounds a bit more like what it costs to get to an "A" licence. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously. -
Unfortunately, yes. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.

When people say student gear is "detuned" it usually means that the brake lines have been intentionally lengthened by a few inches, this making a stall harder to archive. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.

A good duffel bag costs about $20. They work well, but I still love my Square1 Deluxe gearbag the most, it's been around the world now.

Which EP Method is taught at your DZ?
diablopilot replied to Thanatos340's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I have issue with that. If I were going to teach that method (and the way I happen to conduct my own EP's) it would HAVE to be: "look, locate, peel, cutaway,CHECK reserve, arch" What happens when you operate with the rhythm with which you train and the cutaway handle hangs up, or the pull is harder than you thought, or you grabbed a bunch of harness as well as the handle? ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. I disagree. There is no reason with the designs available today to sacrifice openings. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.

Teaching 1 hand per handle on an SOS system is a much different thing than a non SOS system. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously. -
PT-6 UNSUITABLE for Skydiving!?!?! WHAT!?!?

Yep, and for anyone who remembers what was RWS's full name? ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously. -
How DO you see around those giant brass balls of yours? The show must go on, eh?

PT-6 UNSUITABLE for Skydiving!?!?! WHAT!?!?

Again, bingo. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously. -
I find diving towards the front of the aircraft, but letting the relative wind turn my down the hill and pitching the drogue shortly there after has a similar effect. The student thinks we were "upside down" since we were pointed head towards the planet thought still belly to the relative wind, and on video it looks like a giant cartwheel. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. If there was any doubt, there isn't anymore :) I was amazed at how quickly the reserve inflated.

So do you have the RSL/Skyhook hooked up when you jump camera? ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.

PT-6 UNSUITABLE for Skydiving!?!?! WHAT!?!?
diablopilot replied to Unstable's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Bingo. If put in the same position, I would expect Cessna, Continental, or Lycoming to say that none of their products are suitable for skydiving. The dirtbag ambulance chaser is the one to be upset with here. I hope a cat shits on his briefcase. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Guess what powers the PAC750XL? -
Hopefully there are no clips of it on YouTube, and anyone who has a clip of an aircraft doing such maneuvers keeps it to themselves. It's most likely an activity that would get the pilot in hot water with the FAA. Part of the approval for flight with a door removed means a restriction in bank angles and max airspeeds for most aircraft. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are.
