  1. Never, other than on tandems. I just don't have the time on other skydives, and I drill in the plane on every ride to altitude. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.
  2. I like that much better. It's a good rule to live by. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.
  3. Bonehead offers a wide plate as well. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.
  4. Stay aways from mounting the HC series of cameras, they really are too wide and long for that. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.
  5. The way mine is set up, I can access the screws holding the cameras in place without removing the plate. There is a thin pad that goes between the top of your head and the bottom of the plate, but I've found this to be unnecessary so I've left it out. I've never seen a top mount helmet that had the "floor" as you describe. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.
  6. I dunno.....I can think of two times that is may be..... One. In self defense, only enough to remove ones self from the danger. Two. What's wrong with a good spanking? Is hair pulling out too? ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.
  7. Says who. IMO the problem lies in that people don't train themselves in what to look for. HMA does show wear. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.
  8. And IMO when it involves the life of a wuffo student, the rules are NEVER pushed aside. If an instructor finds themself saying "It's safe enough." then it's [robably too close of a margin. To the OP, bring it up to the DZM/DZO. Then to the S&TA. Then your RD. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.

    How to behave

I think the whole damn thing applied to 99.9% of everyone who posts here, granted there are not many if any teenagers that post here, but some people sure do act infantile.... Pot, meet kettle. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.
  10. I know it means more drag, but the line is relativly low drag, and we are not talking about HP canopies. Besides, continuous sets have been shown to work even for HP canopies. I did just fine at the 2005 Nationals on one. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.
  11. I'd say the biggest reason is the wear properties of a cascaded HMA lineset. When you make cascades/finger traps in HMA they wear between 2 to 3 times faster than continuous linesets. As to why other manufacturer's haven't re-trimmed their canopies to be continuously lined and use HMA? I can't be sure, but based on my experience with HMA they'd probably loose out on some lineset sales, as I've had 900 to 1000 jumps on set's I've had before changing them with no more than 1/4" change in trim. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. 12. Yep, you're in a state with a moderately temperate climate, and you couldn't throw your pilot chute without hitting a DZ or an object to jump. Yep, life "sux". ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.
  13. Yes and no. No one should present an obstacle or danger to someone landing. And anyone who is within the landing area should be prepared to dive out of the way if a canopy pilot comes at them. That said, no one ever has the right to fly their parachute in a manner that is likely to cause injury to another. If the swoop lane has people in it, maybe then a person needs to make the decision to land elsewhere safely. If I were swooping a lane and there was a camera person standing to the edge of it, I'd hope for some good shots, but I wouldn't change my plan of swooping the lane, to swooping them, just for a geek shot. That sort of thing needs to be pre-arranged. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.
  14. So that's what you meant every time you said "thank you" to me??? I didn't say I believed it, and I say "Thanks" more than I say "Thank you."
  15. I'll start. DZ's NOT currently accepting Skyride certificates (2/19/08). Skydive Santa Barbara (CA) SkyDance SkyDiving (CA) ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.

  18. I could give that a go...... Whoa....just got busy.....UPS, the mail, and my pizza just arrived. I think I need a break. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.
  19. Soemone once told me, "When you're at work, and you want to say "Fuck you!", just smile and say "Thank you". They mean the same thing." ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.
  20. The weather stinks, there's no bookings at the DZ, and the Flight School I attend has their Office Assistant out sick, so I'm filling in for a few days. So for all you "real" job holders....... what the heck do I do all day?! I've adjusted the office chair like nine times, answered 7 phone calls, filled out 4 messages, and ordered a pizza. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.
  21. God is Alanis Morissette unfortunately. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.
  22. Meow? ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.
  23. Forgive me if I'm repeating myself, but I want to make sure I understand. In respects to the new Spectra based ripcord, is each newly manufactured unit tested to a specific test limit? i.e. each unit pull tested to 1000lbs. Or is a sample of a patch pulled and tested? I am under the impression that with a traditional ripcord, each is tested to a pull of 600lbs or 300lbs if not to be used with an RSL. I'd assume that the weak point (typical breaking point) in a Spectra ripcord is at a stitch or finger trap. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.
  24. Is each one still pull tested to the same limits as the traditional type cable? ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.
