    I find getting older ain't hard, you just have to do a lot of waiting around! One year older, not noticeably wiser. Started as one of the most stressful birthdays I've had on record. Has my FAA Private Pilot oral exam and check ride scheduled today, and between studying and stressing about it, I've been very short on sleep the past couple of days. But the oral exam went well this morning, and the check ride is postponed till Wed due to weather, so all is well again, and I'm taking a well earned birthday nap!!! ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are.     While I can't condone the officer's actions, as they are not above the law, I wonder would reaction be the same if it had been civilians exacting "street justice". Dirtbags with a careless disreguard for human life. Unfortunately the officer's actions began to slip into this realm as well. But not by your dirtbag son's actions?     Yes. They can. That's why we are permitted to sign off the card, administer the "A" license test and stamp the card, granting the applicant an "A" license.     That's what some of us are trying to change, the mind set that it's ok to sell tandems as a "ride". Some of the best tandem instructors I've ever met are from NZ and OZ, and they ARE "instructors". ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.

    You've received some great advice in this thread, and I can't say much more, but this: Try to always think of yourself as a Tandem INSTRUCTOR (not master) and always refer to them as STUDENTS (not passengers) and you'll keep the right mindset about this. Oh and remember to always have fun!

    A deadly one. Its almost as cool as jumping without any altimeter.... That's a little dramatic. Granted the OP has a limited number of jumps, and you are quite correct in saying that the sunglasses and LCD don't mix, however, "deadly"? Please, if that were the case, then that person might reconsider jumping at all.     The cancellation of WFFC is a pretty poor indicator of the Skydiving industry's health. There are more boogies than ever with turbine and specialty aircraft, and load organizers all around the country. The fact that WFFC had less and less of the "special things" to offer, and those that they did could be easily found at local DZ's is what spelled the death of WFFC. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are.     Not weird at all. A DZO and I talked about a theory of his quite a few years back and I think it has merit. When times are good and people have LARGE amounts of money to play with, they buy very expensive things. $5000 vacations, $10000 for a couple of Quads, $20000 for a new ski boat, etc. When times are bad, people still want to play and have fun, but $200 to $300 for a skydive is easier to choke down. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are.
