What are the Dangers of underloading a HP Canopy?

Well its kinda hard for me to explain what is different seeing I have never flown a heavily loaded one What I can tell you, is there is a lot more responsiveness between a semi and a fully elliptical canopy at any wing loading (duh ). I do have issues with endcell closure, not that that is a big issue to fix. Just takes a quick flare. However you have to keep in mind that endcell closure on one side (which I have had happen several times) can cause you to go into a turn. Not a big deal, however you need to deal with it when it happens, and realize what is causing the turn. No brainer. Most of the issues I have with my canopy or more related to it being a Stiletto er should I say SPINletto but controlled body position during opening fixes that. If anyone is interested, here is the link to the SDC webpage with the general overview of the AFP program. It gives you an idea of what is expected of the students on each dive. click on AFP, then click next to got the program information. Now keep in mind this is started after the student has done 2 acceptable tandems. The TM has to pass the student on to AFP. Give Skydive Chicago a call and ask their experience with that loading on that canopy, they used to use them in light loadings in their canopy progression. *** Um we do not use Stiletto's during AFP!!! We use Saber 2's loaded lightly. Some not all of the students will transition to a slightly loaded Stiletto. It depends on the jumper. Heh, thats interesting seeing that I have been at SDC for over a year, most of the Major injuries or fatalitys were jumpers not trained at SDC. Maybe a slight sprain of an ankle here and there, but that happens at any dropzone. I will use myself as an example....I trained at SDC... When I started AFP I was 140, so you take 140 add 40 lbs = 180. Threre is no Saber 2 180, so they moved me up to a 190 (as they move you up a canopy size if you fall in the middle). As I was finishing AFP I downsized to a Saber 2 170 After a few more jumps off student status I moved over to a Stilleto 170. Then downsized to a Stiletto 150 which is what I bought in my first rig. I do know that at my DZ here in the US offered $14 jumps all year if you put down $1400. That covers your first 100 jumps, then you contiune to have $14 jumps the rest of the season. How many jumps? DOM on the main? How many rides has the reserve had? DOM on the reserve? how old is the cypress? Lots of questions...Keep in mind the container alone new is $1500 or better.... One thing....some women (and men with manboob's ) will not be able to see their handles.. I do not look, I check them on the ground and I check them under canopy to feel where they are...In almost all cases they handles will be directly below your chest strap attached to the main liftweb. Ah yes...but who knows who started WFFC? I do agree that it would be more productive to work out some sort of arrangement. You can look at it this way, WFFC is for people who want to party hardcore and Jump. Summerfest is more Jump and have a good time meeting people and slaming a few beers on the double decks...
