I have been to Aruba. Got a great place to stay for free. All I had to pay was air fair and food. If I had the opportunity again (free place to stay) I wouldn’t take it. Nothing special about it. My point is that when your orders are "shoot to kill, then it makes no difference whether someone was a threat or not. The hypocrisy that I see is that many who support U.S. Civil rights for terrorists and treating them as criminals i.e. having their right read to them on the battlefield and tried in a Criminal Court are the same ones that have no problem with shoot to kill orders. I simply wanted to know how they square 2 diametrically opposed positions. It's very obvious they can't so they launch personal attacks and try and belittle somehow with the notion that an emotional outburst is approprite. I wonder how many ran out of their homes and danced in the streets upon hearing the news OBL was dead? Do you think water-boarding a suspected terrorist is wrong? Do you think that giving a shoot to kill order (if that is true) is/was wrong?

Ah thank you! No I don't mind coached jumps, just don't want to drop all my money on it. But I do see great value in it. Dave, Thank you for the advice I will talk with the coaches at my DZ. I'm sure I'm not doing something right. The best trackers at your DZ may not necessarily be "coaches". While that may be true I think he might need more info than that. At your jump numbers shah you don’t get an opportunity to see many others tracking off from a group. Ask the up-jumpers and others you respect at your dz who the best trackers are. Watch large groups from the ground. See who tracks off like a rocket. These are the people to ask for help.

It is something to remember the next time you see a celebration like that on the news. Maybe all of the people from that country/religion don’t feel the same as those who end up on the news. Didn't you see the news coverage of all those people quietly staying at home, with a sense of approval tempered by the sadness that this kind of mission is necessary for the good of all? It was on the same networks that showed worldwide examples of Muslims disgusted with the Trade Center attacks in a perverted twist of something they held dear. Hopefully, your reminder is not such a difficult item for the average person to 'get'. Sadly I don’t get that channel. .

I was disturbed by dancing and drunken celebration also the best way to acknowledge this was quiet approval of a distasteful job that HAD to be done - and that our people had the nerve and ability to do that job It is something to remember the next time you see a celebration like that on the news. Absolutely. Him AND all the terrorists who follow him. But only as one side of the solution. "We" can't simply look at what "they" are doing wrong... The whole notion that we need to blame/villify a single person is a scary concept. There is historical precedent of this (Hitler immediately comes to mind), when in fact the "machine" of destruction was the result of a complex web of systems/structures/hierarchy/psychology. We need to really look at all the many, many, many issues surrounding war/terrorism/poverty/exploitation if we want real progress to be made. Forgive me if I don't think this constitutes "real progress". ETA - I will grant that it does have symbolic significance. But again, this could be good (closure for the victims of 9/11) and bad (martyrdom according to the followers of Al Quaeda). Not real progress but something that needed to be done. Don’t misunderstand me I don’t think this ends anything either. My point is he was killed in an attempt to bring him in to custody. You called it murder. If they just wanted to kill him they could have done that with a missile strike. They would have preferred to take him alive. He took a “You’ll never take me alive attitude” and was killed resisting (with fire arms) arrest. Should we have just left when he didn’t want to go? As far as closure, I don’t believe you can have such a thing when a loved one dies. I do believe you can stop having the salt rubbed into the wound though. Osama being free was that salt.

I think it's ridiculous to villify one person for the acts of many. I think de-stabilising and stopping terrorism will take much more than the removal of one leader. I think praising the killing of a person based on our beliefs but denoucing the killing of someone else based on their beliefs is ridiculous. I think they have legitimate beefs against the West even though we don't approve of their ways of dealing with it - I think this act supports their hatred of the West. I think before we can truly hope to get rid of terrorism/war, The West needs to take a long hard look at its policies and reform from within. Yes. I don't believe it was a good job. Even if I agreed with killing him (and I don't), it took 10 YEARS. How can you explain that, given journalists have been interviewing him well beyond 9/11? Lots of people knew where he was. It doesn't fill me with confidence that all that US/international intelligence took 10 YEARS to accomplish it's "mission". Sorry.
