  1. Watch it! Criticizing zillow.com is a personal attack on stoneycase. 9 and 2 now, I think. First Class Citizen Twice Over
  2. Here comes the personal attack... are you ready? HERE IT COMES...! Do you have a reference to this or shall we take your word for both the facts and your interpretation? First Class Citizen Twice Over
  3. Next time just start your thread with, "Positive reviews only, please." First Class Citizen Twice Over

  7. You're saying I'm bitter because I participate wholeheartedly in conversation about a subject that's close to my life? Should I restrain myself and only talk about things that don't matter to me? Or perhaps "bitter" just means "righteously angry" in which case you're right. Maybe Keith doesn't want to get married. Maybe Keith feels gay marriage is morally wrong. Or more likely, maybe Keith just knows something I don't: there's no future in trying to reason with "chuckle-heads". First Class Citizen Twice Over
  8. That's EXACTLY what I asked. You've delayed two days in answering now. It sounds like I must be an authority on these matters and I've never heard of ANY governmental gay rights ANYWHERE that weren't vague echoes of heterosexual rights that were otherwise denied. That's why I asked. And I'm still waiting. Yes. First Class Citizen Twice Over
  9. I understand margin of error quite well. This margin of error is too large to be of much use. Also, if THEY understood margin of error they wouldn't present their ROUGH estimates to 6 or 7 significant digits. Bad data in -> bad results out. So far it looks like 5 terrible estimates to 2 close ones. That might be a nice feature. I wonder how reasonable their answers will be to these pro forma situations, given that their answers seem wildly inaccurate elsewhere. Basically, yes. Free random numbers are worth every penny you paid for them. I've heard everything you've said. You haven't heard what I've said: I don't value free estimates that are this unreliable. Didn't you ask what people thought? First Class Citizen Twice Over
  10. They should hire you. You have the marketing patter down and you obviously feel personally attached to this website already. First Class Citizen Twice Over
  11. 4 stars. They claim about 75% are within 10%. Wow. Can you imagine anything more useless? Go to zillow.com and get a number that 1 out of 4 times is going to be off by more than 10%. For a $300,000 house, that means you've got a 25% chance of being off by more than $30,000. I'd hate to have shortchanged myself out of $30,000 or $40,000 or who knows how much. Again, zillow.com is supplying a HUGE quantity of nearly random numbers very quickly. And to make it worse, those numbers are presented with APPARENT accuracy. If it said, "Approximately $300,000" that's one thing but when it says, "$301,187" one is inclined to believe it came up with something significant. By the way, do you work for this website? 12. What's the value of a huge quantity of quickly delivered incorrect and unreliable numbers? First Class Citizen Twice Over
  13. Actually, yes. There used to be several websites that did this exact same thing (although there weren't as graphically fancy) about 5 years ago. They all shut down for some reason. It's nice that a new one's appeared, but its math is just as useless. Sometimes more information is NOT better -- when it's bad information. First Class Citizen Twice Over
  14. What you've written seems to boil down to the fact that this website gives terrible estimates because it gets flawed data. I'm sorry it doesn't have a better source of data but the bottom line is until it gets one the estimates are still terrible. First Class Citizen Twice Over
  15. Yes, but that'S 6 months later when appreciation is said to have been 22%. In other words, they're off by ~21% I mentioned the 1% figure only to show that APPARENT accuracy can actually result in HUGE errors. First Class Citizen Twice Over
  16. I sold a house (FSBO) 6 months ago. zillow.com reports that house's value within 1% of the price I sold it for. HOWEVER... * It thinks my house is 3br/1ba when it's really 4br/2ba. * It thinks my house is 1500 sq. ft when it's really 2000 sq. ft. * It says that 6 months ago my house was worth 22% LESS than I sold it for then. In other words, if I'd listened to zillow.com's valuation when I sold, I would have shortchanged myself by many tens of thousands of dollars. First Class Citizen Twice Over
  17. I do it because I have a strange mental pathology. I literally cannot bring myself to believe that there are people that can't see reason. First Class Citizen Twice Over
  18. I was just sitting around at home reading my new copy of The Joy of Mixology by Gary Regan so I mixed up my first Dreamy Dorini Smoking Martini and I'm in heaven. As soon as I'm done posting this I'm going to grab a cigar and put on some teary french love songs or something. Unfortunately I had to do some substitutions but I'm still really happy with it. The way it should be 2 oz Grey Goose Vodka 1/2 oz Laphraiog 10yr Scotch 2-3 drops Pernod lemon twist The way I made it 2 oz Ciroc Vodka 1/2 oz Lagavulin 10yr Scotch 2-3 drops Absinthe lemon twist Stir gently of crushed ice for 30 seconds then strain into a chilled cocktail glass. Top with a properly loved lemon twist. Gary Regan also recommends Ardbeg. Wow. That would really be something! First Class Citizen Twice Over
  19. Excellent question and respectfully posed. How refreshing :) So long as you understand I'm answering for myself ONLY, that solution sounds great to me. First Class Citizen Twice Over

  22. I have some righteous anger from being treated very poorly. When your state votes to cause your involuntary divorce from your loving spouse, I suspect you'll be peeved too. By the way, you got pissy when I ignored your question. I answered yours but now you're ignoring several of mine. I won't get pissy, but we can all guess what it means. First Class Citizen Twice Over
  23. Please show me where MC208B is "attacking you with violence or lawmaking" - I'd really like to see where you got that idea from his post. Rhonda Lea said: Her reasoning is dead on. When someone tells me, "I believe what you're doing is wrong," in the context of a vote to prevent me from doing it, it's a fair assumption. However, all presumptions are rebuttable. If he wants to say that he did NOT vote against gay marriage (or even better that he voted for it) I'll be happy to apologize for my error. I'll also be fascinated by his apparently inconsistent behavior and want to hear all about how he made that decision. First Class Citizen Twice Over
  24. Yes. I ignored it because it's a dumb little point. If there are actual examples of written governmental policies that grant actual rights only to homosexuals I'd be very interested to know about them. I can't think of any but I'm sure anything you come up with will be a vague echo of a right heterosexuals have in full. And this is tantamount to stealing my dollar and refunding a nickle then complaining that I get free nickles. And hell, I haven't even received my nickle yet! First Class Citizen Twice Over
  25. Do you really fail to see the difference between A) those who attack others with violence and lawmaking and B) those who disapprove of the attackers ? First Class Citizen Twice Over
