  1. Speaking of woodford, I just made myself a Manhattan with woodford and as much as I like the whiskey, it's not my first choice for the cocktail. First Class Citizen Twice Over
  2. Yes, but at least there's perpetual war to provide job security. First Class Citizen Twice Over
  3. What do you think about people who bleat about rationality but spend their day thinking about their invisible superhero friends? First Class Citizen Twice Over
  4. The Peanut Butter Proof is probably suffering a small credibility problem since the salmonella outbreak. First Class Citizen Twice Over
  5. A different explanation -- and slightly more generous -- is that these people have deadlines. And when the pressure is on, anything is better than dead air. First Class Citizen Twice Over
  6. You're having WAY more fun than most of us here. You inspire me to greater heights! First Class Citizen Twice Over
  7. Ooooh, excellent invitation. I'd LOVE to go around the merry-go-round of the last 5000 speaker's corner threads again. Let me go catalog all those topics and get RIGHT back to you. First Class Citizen Twice Over
  8. Doesn't seem to have stopped them -- or even slowed them down, really. It's far far too late for that. First Class Citizen Twice Over
  9. The Bush administration has quite thoroughly done away with such legalistic archaisms. An allegation is all that's necessary to destroy lives in the post 9-11 era. Are you saying we don't all get to live by these new modern standards? First Class Citizen Twice Over
  10. My take is that an individual who wants to stuff ballot boxes by walking into polling places and fraudulently marking ballots could possibly falsify two or three votes -- thereby achieving exactly nothing. If someone was truly ambitious they'd start an electronic voting machine company and get a near-monopoly contract for the nation. That's going to be a lot more effective. I sure hope nobody thinks of THAT idea! First Class Citizen Twice Over
  11. Last time I counted we had over 60 different bottles of whisk(e)y here. Hmmm. Maybe a tasting tonight. First Class Citizen Twice Over
  12. To be completely parallel with the OP's meaning, we should restrict this list to purely MORAL prohibitions enforced by the police: 14. You can't smoke marijuana for fun 15. You can't have sex with the wrong people 16. You can't have sex of the wrong type 17. You can't kill yourself 18. You can't sell your own body parts 19. You can't form voluntary contracts of many types and many more... First Class Citizen Twice Over
  13. You're right. In America it's a different list. First Class Citizen Twice Over
  14. I'm sure glad we have you around. First Class Citizen Twice Over
  15. Your optimism is part of your charm. First Class Citizen Twice Over
  16. Yes, weak-minded readers often read the number "1000" and think it means the number "1000". Yet another sign of the poor american educational system. God's punishment is WELL deserved. First Class Citizen Twice Over
  17. Chuteless always disappears as soon as people ask questions like "What does {your most recent vague and ominous prediction} mean?" Someone less charitable than me might suspect he doesn't have a clue what he means. First Class Citizen Twice Over
  18. Bush does NOT support the troops. Bush supports his personal war and the troops are the pawns he sacrifices to wage it. They're also the pawns he sacrifices to wage political war. Of course they're all volunteers so I don't feel to bad for them, but it's incredibly naive to think Bush actually gives a shit about them -- either individually or collectively. 19. Westboro Baptist Church is internally-consistent, strong-willed, committed to their beliefs, and unconcerned about the opinions of others. Their beliefs seem no more outlandish than any other interpretation of the bible. I don't see the problem. First Class Citizen Twice Over
  20. Ok, what's your prediction? Huh??? This sounds like another way of saying "They're motivated by principle rather than a desire to be re-elected." You'd call that a virtue if it were your own guys. First Class Citizen Twice Over
  21. Fascinating. Here's another: From "The Doubters Companion", pub. The Free Press (Simon and Schuster), 1994. First Class Citizen Twice Over
  22. But Bill, you do know that unless you repeat yourself endlessly to these deaf ears, the moment you stop they'll declare intellectual victory. First Class Citizen Twice Over
  23. Read the washington post article I POSTED . I read it. It makes the guy look like he bought a house then bought part of his neighbor's land. There is absolutely no indication that anyone did anything wrong. The article says that over and over I asked you to explain any indiscretion you see. You've avoided doing so. Are you just in a bad mood or do you actually have a complaint about this guy? First Class Citizen Twice Over
  24. I won't hate a politician just because a dropzone poster says "LYING THEIVING POLITICIAN". Not that I'm not eager to hate politicians, but give a fucking reason, ok? Or can you? First Class Citizen Twice Over
  25. I'm WHOLEHEARTEDLY in support of your distinction. Let's ALL be very careful about this clarification. If every pro- or anti-gun discussion kept it in mind, the conversations would be much more instructive than they have been. Same with all the others. First Class Citizen Twice Over
