More than likely this was Klez. That particular 'virus' has some interesting stealth habits that might be confusing you. Klez APPEARS to be sent by someone other than the person who actually is infected. It grabs two names from the victim's mailboxes then sends to one of them from the other. No, this isn't a laundering scheme. It's much simpler than that. It's a standard con: They entice you with potential riches, but unfortunatly need just a small amount, say, about the size of your life savings, to initiate the transaction. That's why most of the emails include something like "40% for you and 40% for us and the remaining 20% will cover incidental expenses incurred by both parties." A friend of mine went through with the entire thing while wired and observed by the FBI. In the end he handed $15,000 over to the Nigerians while armed agents watched through a fake mirror. The Nigerians left with the money with promises to be "right back with the millions, really!" The FBI took them away. My friend's story was written up in Money magazine, if you want the full text. Sure. You can do one of two things: 1) Execute your rights under their guarantee. That means you call their guarantee line. Listen to the comforting message and soothing music for fourteen minutes. Tell the flunky who answers what happened. They'll ship you a guarantee form. Three days later when it arrives, fill it out. I recommend hiring a transportation consultant to help you decipher the form. Send it in. Six to eight weeks later you'll receive a response indicating that your claim has been denied. Apply again with more explanation. In twelve weeks they'll approve your claim. Six weeks later they'll send you a check for $1.28 which is the difference in price between 2-day and 3-day shipment.
