Get $$$ for driving me to the DZ..
eightate8at8 replied to eightate8at8's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
You guys are just so funny! -
If that makes all of you sleep at night, sure, I'll be that guy for all the rest of you to use as an example. Too bad I'm smart and won't be getting hurt.
-
I understand dude, I don't think you have to take it that far. Relax..
-
Ever since first learning about this sport I've always come to realize it's one of those that you never know anything. I totally understand and know what you guys mean about always learning, I'm not denying that! In addition, I was very encouraged by the landing area at my dz, it wasn't a huge ass open field, instead a small square surrounded by corn that you sure as hell don't want to land in; trust me, I never landed in the corn I'm sorry you guys took my voice the wrong way. I assure you I'm safe, and I assure you that whatever I end up with between a sabre 150, pilot, or similar, that I will be on it for quite some time. Sorry I got all of your panties in a bunch
-
Do you guys not understand that this is exactly what I'm doing? Yes, I'm staying 150, not going any smaller. And yes, I'm staying on the more conservative canopies. Did I say stiletto in my title? Yep, did I want reinforcement to help me choose not to go that way? Yep.
-
Really? Just shut up I didn't mean it in the sense that I've mastered it, know it in and out, swoop with it.. I simply mean that for the time being, aka landing straight and nothing high performance, I can handle it. Meaning there is room for me to improve, which is what I want.
-
Trust me, I've been learning before I was able to do my tandem. I appreciate advice; anything else is ignored. See ya guys in the air
-
Haha, k.. I'm not stupid. Thanks though! Alot of you guys have great advice, how about you give it in a less-asshole of a way? Every single one of you was in my same exact position, especially if you listen to yourself saying that all new jumpers are idiots. Just sayin.. we aren't all the same. I apologize for trying to learn. Sorry my thread title had a mistake in it using the term stiletto..
-
I understand that for sure. But as a fact I know I am more into this sport than alotttt others. Not saying that I'm awesome or whatever, I'm just saying that I know from experience both at the dz's, and even from posts on here from others just starting that I am more knowledgeable. Which hey, means hopefully they'll break a leg before me right?

Alright, it's coming to the point where I really need to get things figured out so I can purchase airfare at a reasonable price. Short and sweet here are the facts.. I'm from the midwest and am looking to go somewhere for about a week in mid-early January. I'm open to anywhere such as eloy, perris, anywhere in texas or florida. Basically the only requirement is that they have cheap bunks for me to stay in (if worst comes to worst I can tent) I really don't want to pay $200+ to rent a car so I would need someone to pick me up from the airport and then drive me back. If anyone is available, houston, dallas, zhills, sebastian, eloy, etc. Let me know.. I know some are father from airports than others that's why I'm open.. Thanks guys -
Need a ride, January, Phoenix to Eloy
eightate8at8 replied to eightate8at8's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Anyone!? I know there's people that go between Phoenix and Eloy! $$$$$ involved! -
Thanks for the advice guys. I don't want to seem cocky, I don't mean to be nor am I, I guess I just am trying to explain that I know I am capable of handling more. It's hard to put this but basically I'm trying to find the safe canopy that will allow me to progess quite a bit. Like I said, hard to explain.. but I appreciate all the input
-
Alright so maybe you're a proud chute shop owner, you list all the pros to keeping it, but would there be any cons to trading it for the sabre 150? I understand you and your points, and like I said I'll stay on the Sabre for a while, but are there any negatives to making the switch? I can't really think of any
-
I just feel like grabbing the PD Sabre and devoting time with that is a better match than this unknown SA 155 ha. In addition, it'll pack way better which is always a plus. Maybe better resale value? I'm sure there's a few more decent reasons
-
My current plan is to move from my SA 155 to a Sabre1 150.. Not to anything else. Yes, I plan to stay on the Sabre 150 for a lenghty. And no, no incidents here.

Definitely.. I didn't see anything in freefall so it must have been as I opened; that's when I noticed the little speck -
The biggest reason I post asking questions is simply because I don't know all the canopies and their flight characteristics. I do as much reading and research as I can but that doesn't suffice. I take your guys' advice, trust me; I'm not going to be jumping to a nitro or stiletto 150. Why did I ask in the first place? Because I don't know the canopies! I'm just trying to get all the information I can. And for whoever mentioned having trouble getting the 155 in my container, it's been discussed that it's south african material and packs like a 170. So let's look at some options; Safire 1/2 Silhouette Pilot Sabre 1/2 ?
-
Try a 170? No thank you. I jumped a 170 after my 4th jump on AFF. I can handle a 150 perfectly, it's just the different canopies and their characteristics I'm trying to learn about. Yes, my instructors are ok with this, yes I talked to them when purchasing my rig. So if you don't know the situation, don't comment thinking you know everything? In addition, my instructors wouldn't have put me on a 150 finishing my aff. Thanks for those with positive comments.
-
I appreciate the reinforcement not to make this move.. I plan on making the switch from a Chute shop 155 ZP to a Sabre 150.. Not much difference, but I'm sure the sabre flies a little nicer, and one major plus will be the pack volume; seeing as how the 155 is south african material and packs like a bitch in my I33

I've heard of vaseline just never got around to it. And the funny story about cauterizing it is that we went to see a physician years ago when I was younger.. 1) I was scared and 2) He was so foreign you couldn't understand a word. We opted out of that situation -
Haha, just trying to get some extra information.. If I went to a safire, then 149 would be the winner?
-
Yeah, I've been looking at say a storm, pulse, or maybe spectre.. Are the safire and safire 2 similar? (Unlike Sabre1 vs 2..)
-
I understand it's a huge step.. I'm just trying to figure out if there's a way to fly it super conservatively for a while. I have heard others jumping on one at roughly 40 jumps; not saying that's ok just saying. In addition, my exit weight is about 150, so it would be basically 1:1, maybe 1.1:1
-
Do you think this is a safe transition to make while in the 30-60 jump range? I've flown a Sabre2 150, really liked it as it didn't seem like too much. Currently I have a 155 that is probably more related to a more square Sabre1. Obviously the Stiletto is a hp canopy, but if used with more caution for the first 50 or so jumps before gradually testing it, do you think it would be alright?

I have bloody noses all the time, I have a vein super close to the surface skin in my nose. Usually get them in the winter/dryer months do to it being dry.. I've always wondered how bad it would suck to get a bloody nose under canopy or whatnot.. it happened once but luckily it must have stopped really quick, I only had a small speck of blood inside my Z1 visor. I've thought about carrying a hankercheif with me, or possibly those cylinder shaped plugs that sports players use.. who knows
