Those Aggies... Make the rest of us look bad! "I may be a dirty pirate hooker...but I'm not about to go stand on the corner." iluvtofly DPH -7, TDS 578, Muff 5153, SCR 14890 I'm an asshole, and I approve this message

Nuff said. Thought so, but thought there may be some IOS out there that allows it that I've never come across. Good to know it's just the test software that got it wrong and not me. Thanks! Can one of yall help me out, I think this test software is screwed up. The "ip route" command should be: ip route (dest net) (dest mask) (next hop) Right? It's saying I missed part of this, but I didn't select it because there was no (dest mask) in the answer. I've never seen an ip route that didn't have this and I don't see where in the Cisco documentation that this is valid. Many drivers like to leave space in between cars; if they get rear-ended and pushed into the car in front on them, they are the ones who are going to be charged with the damage to the car in front. Also useful if you want to change lanes, you don't need to wait for them to move. Very good point Bill... My first couple dozen "camera jumps" were with a go pro on a mudflap that I had set up (and got the camera guys at the dz to approve/critique). Video turned out pretty good and it was easy to see if the camera was running or not. If the OP just want's the camera along for the ride and not to be filming *-way or whatnot, it would probably be just fine and a unique angle for the video (that's not commonly seen these days). I'd like to get started with Linux, anyone know about this?
theonlyski replied to SpeedRacer's topic in The Bonfire
Ubuntu is pretty easy to set up as a boot OS, if you're not attached to Windows (or want to become pretty good at Linux) then wipe it an install it on a clean hard drive. Problem with using a VMware image is, you eventually get tired of playing with it! I just installed Ubuntu server on a NAS I built for my media server, it just sits there, cranking away without even a hiccup. That's what it's designed for! Going from Windows to a CLI install of Linux would be a hell of a shock, but you can install the GUI and have the best of both worlds. It's a pretty popular OS and many of the bigger applications support it natively. If I buy it, will you teach me to swoop? It's only a 100ft² downsize for me! "I may be a dirty pirate hooker...but I'm not about to go stand on the corner." iluvtofly DPH -7, TDS 578, Muff 5153, SCR 14890 I'm an asshole, and I approve this message -
Farmer McNasty – Perris Area Balloon Jump
theonlyski replied to RMK's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
UP That is the difference here... Balloons are able to go up and land somewhere further off, skydivers and gliders don't have the ability to create any useful lift. A guy I worked with quite possibly inspired the testing to find that 'rule of thumb'. For most lines it's fine, but there are some out there that will slide right out with that short of a finger trap. Mostly a non-issue on the sport side of things (with the lines we use) but it CAN vary. I'd also suggest checking out skydive the farm, though it is a couple hours from VD drive. As far as the training goes, if you're going between DZ's thru your a-license progression, your logbook is VITAL... Make sure you have it filled out properly after every jump. Other than that, try to jump at least a few times a month, currency is very important, especially at the beginning stages of learning to jump. Ft. Benning has a hell of a first jump course by the way... 2 weeks of pullups and 5 jumps the following week. Scary Stuff.. misrouted reserve closing loop
theonlyski replied to shibu's topic in Safety and Training
AWESOME! You'll learn more than many people know about their gear. Make sure you coordinate with the rigger before you plan on watching it. It really sucks for someone to bring their rig and ask to watch me repack it, when I hadn't planned on packing it right away. Also, make sure you're able to stay awake thru it, I've let 3 people watch, one completely passed out, the other two were pretty close to it. It's not the most exciting part of many peoples days. Really long velcro on my altimeter wrist strap
theonlyski replied to lpstar's topic in Gear and Rigging
With my Neptune 3 that has the piece of velcro sewn to a piece of (I think 1" tape), I simply put it on, s-folded the excess back so that there is no exposed hook and it fits perfectly, then sewed the s-fold. Works well, I can still remove the stitching and it will be back to the same as when I got it. If it's JUST the velcro strip (I think that's 2-3" wide) you could probably just trim the excess off. Talk to a rigger and I'm sure you could get it fixed quicker than you could fetch them a beer. ETA: I also sewed the strap to the altimeter attachment (where it goes thru the tape that the altimeter is on). That keeps it so it goes on the exact same spot every time, and doesn't try to rotate nearly as much. So you would manufacture the bolt(s) of fabric and just send them off to be sewn? "I may be a dirty pirate hooker...but I'm not about to go stand on the corner." iluvtofly DPH -7, TDS 578, Muff 5153, SCR 14890 I'm an asshole, and I approve this message
