I don't know anyone that buys used sport gear and immediately contacts the manufacturers of all of the equipment and updates themselves as the registered owner. It's not a catch all, but with gear this new, it *MIGHT* work. The girlfriend is perfectly fine with me skydiving, flying and even building my own airplane that I will make the test flights on. But not with me getting a motorcycle. Cloud Storage for Collaborative Video Projects
theonlyski replied to TallGuy's topic in Photography and Video
Hmm, I just got an idea... Maybe I could build systems and sell them to the DZ that will just let people drop their cards in it, create copies of it the card and send the user on their way. Unfortunate for the person who has to go thru it all, as many a skydiver has forgotten about their 'home made' videos that are still on their memory cards. Cloud Storage for Collaborative Video Projects
theonlyski replied to TallGuy's topic in Photography and Video
+1 The (current) NAS I built has an i5 quad core 3.1ghz processor, 16gb ram and 2x3tb drives (not in RAID, just an exact copy of the primary). It serves as a web server, media server, backup my DVD collection with minimal work to me (I put the disk in and it ejects when it's done). Cost a bit more than a diskless system, but realistically with a bit of shell script experience, can do just about anything. It would be pretty easy to add just about any USB media card reader and have it automagically copy/sort/store anything from a card. Folder shares work great in Mac, Win and Linux systems. My DNS-323 now sits in my desk at work, in case for some reason we need a temporary network storage for moving files around at one of our remote sites. I'll NEVER go back to something that slow, most of the consumer/pro-sumer systems just don't compare. FUCK that. my curve is the best thing thats ever happened to me since extenze. If you have a Curv, you don't need Extenze... Just sayin... I guess it all depends where his curv is. +1, I had a couple things on my credit that said something along the lines of settled for less than the full amount. http://www.bills.com/settled-for-less-than-full-balance/ The pain in the ass was, I paid the full amount owed, just not the 20% they tried to stick on top. Loose chest strap/Cypres fire.
theonlyski replied to CSpenceFLY's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
(I don't see anyone responding to this) Ever wonder what the purpose for that fold over at the end of the chest strap is? Even if the strap were to work it's way loose, the fold over at the end does a pretty damn good job of keeping the strap in the hardware. I'm willing to bet that this guy had his chest strap misrouted when he geared up. New Tandem Rig Soon to Enter the Market
theonlyski replied to skydived19006's topic in Tandem Skydiving
Tandem student wearing dark goggles, on a sunset tandem. http://www.plexustandem.com/images/article_images/about/about-sh-350.gif Something about maintaining a dual harness, dual parachute system that doesn't require a rigger? I can't wait to see the shit someone comes up with to 'fix' something. Intresting Malfunction procedure's / Student Cam
theonlyski replied to crashtested's topic in Tandem Skydiving
I joked about letting students wear their go-pros on the little elastic head band only with a waiver that says we're not responsible if it comes off. On exit, ready, set, goooooo and I take the camera off their head, shove it in a jumpsuit pocket and say 'Dude, that camera flew RIGHT OFF!' You could contact a manufacturer that has it, generally they're willing to help out with small orders like that. You could even say you're repairing a few rigs with that material and want it directly from the gear mfgr. Not like most skydivers could read/decode a METAR/TAF nor bother to do so anyways. Blue sky = jump. "I may be a dirty pirate hooker...but I'm not about to go stand on the corner." iluvtofly DPH -7, TDS 578, Muff 5153, SCR 14890 I'm an asshole, and I approve this message

How is this faster than going straight to ADDS and entering the exact airport code? Seems easier to do it directly, as you then don't have to go down the list or search for the correct airport code. I bought both of my current canopies online without downloading an order form. Also, I don't have to renew my membership. I've got my gold card. There could also be a couple other reasons the lines are getting damaged. In my case, it was a sharp hot knifed end of the binding tape they used for the excess stows and the fact that the grommet would jam the line very tightly against the risers when I pulled it behind my head. The fix for both of them was to re-work the risers which moved the stow loops to the space between the toggle and the riser. No issue with this configuration.
