ive tried loading windows xp on a computer with some bad ram on more than a dozen occassions, and every single time, it failled installation at some point. its really a pain in the ass. yeah, im thinking its the HDD, if its POSTing, and can boot a CD, then money is on the HDD. If the computer was running and the heads werent parked, it could have caused physical damage to the drive, not repairable, but may still work. eh, possibly a driver issue... most likely if its gonna work, formatting it and reloading may work... it could be physical damage to any of the moving peices (hard drive) or something knocked out, or possibly off thier solder points.
