    On all aircraft? On all Vigil modes? Isn't there some rule about seatbelts and 1000 feet? Wouldn't the door have to open AFTER everyone gets their seatbelts off? So like, 1000 feet, then seatbelts, then doors? The door doesnt usually fully open till 1000-1500 feet, but someone generally sticks their foot under the door to let a little air in until then.     I hold like that nearly all of the time, especially with gloves on (no chance of getting my hand stuck in the loop).. Yep. Some people really jam their hands in the loops so tight that they can't get them back out easy and quick. I've always had a problem with that technique. I just put three fingers in my loops, so that there's a loose fit, and I can quickly pull them out if necessary in order to do something else. AND it gives you a few inches extra at flare time... Not everyone needs a few extra inches to get the job done.     Maybe controllability? If the inner part of the canopy deflected first, I would expect the canopy to want to turn one way or the other, but having the outter parts keeps the middle cells inflated longer, and stay straighter?
