  1. .......................................................................... So you have not read the manual for Precision's P-124A canopy? Hah! Hah! Reserves have manuals?? 2. I've got the canopies already, but I need a container and AAD to make Rig #2 complete. So, can you put my name on the 50% off Infinity or 30% of V3 or Vigil? Thanks! Nah, that Vigil is mine already. 3. Reserves are packed in a way that greatly reduces the chances of a line over forming. Using clamps is up to the rigger (unless they're packing I believe it's Precision FLIGHT CONCEPTS reserves, that I know of) some do, some don't, and some like me kind of just use them once in a while. (pro-packing or flat packing) I have seen one master rigger that used clamps while pro-packing a tandem main. Other than that, I don't recall ever seeing anyone pack a main with clamps. Edit to fix the reserves that ban the clamps. 6. PM Mark Lancaster, (masterrigger1). Smart money is that he has one, or knows exactly where to get them. "I may be a dirty pirate hooker...but I'm not about to go stand on the corner." iluvtofly DPH -7, TDS 578, Muff 5153, SCR 14890 I'm an asshole, and I approve this message
  7. I would think they would've chosen the rubber bands over the safety stows because rubber bands are freaking everywhere, you don't have to special order them, or find a rigger to make them. 9. Ive got a Sigma 10-20... thing is heavy as all hell, not terribly fast, but it takes some pretty damn pictures! 10. This came about after a discussion about taking harness grips in the first place. The person said chest strap grips were ok, but anywhere else on the harness were illegal. I had never heard of that, and wanted to clarify. Not specifically for a cat G or H, just in general. 11. That's a pretty typical question and concern. I have not seen any difference nor has my rigger who just started using them for himself this year. The designer added the cotton to the mouth of the flap after some concern about this very subject in the early stages of development and it seems to have taken care of any additional friction wear. And to my surprise, the cotton really shows no wear either. I thought that was Kevlar? Either way, with only 150ish jumps on mine, I haven't seen any wear on the flap, bag or lines. Time will tell! 12. You might be able to find a DZ that offeres Instructor Assisted Deployment (IAD). This is almost like static line, but with 'sport' student gear (doesn't use static lines, your instructor throws your pilot chute on your exit). Not saying that SL gear isn't modern, but there are plenty of DZ's out there that don't have a SL rig, who could in theory do IAD instead. (same gear could be used for AFF students) "I may be a dirty pirate hooker...but I'm not about to go stand on the corner." iluvtofly DPH -7, TDS 578, Muff 5153, SCR 14890 I'm an asshole, and I approve this message
  13. But it's not ILLEGAL. How many tandem STUDENTS have you seen jump without a jumpsuit? "I may be a dirty pirate hooker...but I'm not about to go stand on the corner." iluvtofly DPH -7, TDS 578, Muff 5153, SCR 14890 I'm an asshole, and I approve this message
  14. It also follows that Coaches can teach FJC except method specific parts...which include the harness hold. Guys, I'm NOT talking about doing an AFF jump, nor teaching the method specific portions of it. Either way, straight from the horses mouth, harness grips aren't illegal, they just cannot be used by a coach to prevent/stop a spin or do roll-overs (those are to be done only by AFF-I's). This was simply a yes/no type question. 15. Just had a conversation with a newly minted coach about this. Are coaches allowed to take a harness grip on a student (let's be clear, not a FJC student, someone cleared by an instructor to jump with a coach). They said it's in the SIM and/or IRM, I don't recall seeing it saying that other than coaches are allowed to make gripped exits with students. Discuss. 18. Well, think I figured out the thread fraying (haven't been fucking with it much for a while)... rookie mistake I ordered a bunch of parts for it, and never CHANGED THE NEEDLE. Works fine now, so far. I never changed the needle because I was having timing and space issues and didn't want to scuff up a new needle trying to figure it out... Apparently I forgot to put a new needle in... I noticed this when I looked at the needles I bought for the machine and saw that they were all still in the case. So far, only sewing a couple pieces of ty-8 to test, it seems to be running smooth, not skipping any stitches (which it was doing before in a zigzag) and not shredding the thread.
