Exactly. The point is that although bonehead mistakes like setting the wrong mode shouldn't happen, they can. With only one mode it eliminates that possibility. Yes you could set up the wrong field elevation correction but that is with both systems so that cancels that out as a differance. I never said that the Vigil wasn't a great product. The OP asked for an OPINION and I gave mine and the reasons for it. Nobody has to agree with me. Opinions vary that's why we have so many choices. To the Op use all the information that you can get and choose the system you feel would be right for you. I started when nobody except students jumped any kind of AAD. As we all got more information and "educated" in the use and advantages of them most of us have changed our minds on the subject. If there is enough factual evidence that the vigil has become the top choice when I am ready to buy again then that is what I would go with. For now I just haven't seen that evidence, so I'll stick with my cypres. Cypres or Vigil lets all hope that if any of us ever need it to work ,it does. As far as I'm concearned that's all that really matters. ATTACK LIFE ! IT'S GOING TO KILL YOU ANYWAY!!!!

Sounds like a plan and If the people doing the conversion do it well then we'll have that part done already. ATTACK LIFE ! IT'S GOING TO KILL YOU ANYWAY!!!!

I dig it. I'm going for the Evil look. Black and smoke rig with skulls and the cool looking Vector 3 logo. ATTACK LIFE ! IT'S GOING TO KILL YOU ANYWAY!!!!

Don't let your injuries stop you. By the sound of things you're in better shap than I am. The one thing you must do is learn how to PLF well. I don't always flare at the right time but I can roll my fat ass on the ground really well and get up laughing. Not to pretty but not painfull either. ATTACK LIFE ! IT'S GOING TO KILL YOU ANYWAY!!!!

cool idea I know racers used to have alot of things silkscreened on the pop top. I have a place doing the digitizing for me now. They said I'll keep most of the detail and that it should look good. We'll see next week how it comes out ATTACK LIFE ! IT'S GOING TO KILL YOU ANYWAY!!!!

Also, the vigil very clearly says, student, pro or tandem on the display. So if you turn it on then you will know how it's set. You do look at the display after you turn it on don't you? If you're concerned about accidentally changing settings then you're just as likely to accidentally change the ground offset on either device. Of course I look at the display. I guess since you are obviously so much smarter than me you have never locked your keys in the car. My point is there are things distracting us all day long. Maybie your trying to catch a load last minute, maybie some hot chick walks by, or someone asks you some kind of question. It would be easy to mess-up. Not saying or implying (as you are) that anyone is an idiot but mistakes can and will happen. I like the simplicity of the cypres. You are no dobt pro Vigil and thats cool. either will work I prefer cypres. ATTACK LIFE ! IT'S GOING TO KILL YOU ANYWAY!!!!

For me it's Cypress. Not for emotional reasons or for scientific reasons but instead for simplicity reasons. I believe in the KISS rule. (keep it simple stupid) that being said with cypress you turn it on and forget it. With Vigil however it can be switched between modes therefore changing the firing height. I hope that I wouldn't accidently put the thing into tandem mode and have a two out but It is possible. I also like the fact that something that is supposed to save my ass is being inspected at the factory every so often, just like my rigger inspecting my reserve every so often, but thats just me. Looks cool. At my age this will most likely be my last rig so it would be worth up about $500.00 to me. B.W. Thanks again I think even loosing a good bit of the shading this would look better than the standard Skull and Crossbones. I'll have to find someone to convert it and see what it would look like. I went by UPT and dropped of some images to get a price on the embroidery, they said my images were to complex. Lets see what you've got on your rigs. I can't believe the attached image can't be done. I think it would look cool as Hell on a rig. ATTACK LIFE ! IT'S GOING TO KILL YOU ANYWAY!!!!

I lived in Clewiston in the mid-eighties. Fishing is good there year round. Do get a guide and you'll have a great time. You'll most likely see some big ass aligators too. Have fun wish I could be there. ATTACK LIFE ! IT'S GOING TO KILL YOU ANYWAY!!!! -

The rigger could be a total ass but who cares. Why don't you ask on here if anyone knows him? He is surely known by someone and if it helps you sell your gear what do you have to loose? Cash is cash I don't care what the other persons personality is as long as I get my money. ATTACK LIFE ! IT'S GOING TO KILL YOU ANYWAY!!!!

Yes PAIN will make you think twice about your choices, but you have made a choice to skydive. DON'T let it beat you!! My suggestion is to get yourself a ladder, stand on it with your feet at about 12 feet high. Look around visualize coming in for landing, what does this height look like? How is your relationship to distant objects? Develope a general sight picture of this height and distance to the ground. Yes it will be slightly differant everywhere you jump but it should give you a good starting point. As for PLF's from same ladder over soft grass practice first from 2' then from 4' then from 6' if you can learn to PLF from 6' you shouldn't have to worry about it anymore. Remember as a kid jumping out of the swings at full speed and as high as you could get? How did you land? Basically as kids we instintively did good PLF's without even thinking about it. You can do it just relax and practice your PLF's. You'll get it if you don't give up. BSBD ATTACK LIFE ! IT'S GOING TO KILL YOU ANYWAY!!!!

Hopefully I never have to try it myself. I personally would chop a main but a reserve with a line over I'd try anything I could to fix it before experiencing sudden deceleration syndrome. ATTACK LIFE ! IT'S GOING TO KILL YOU ANYWAY!!!!

Never had a line over don't really want one. But aren't 99% of them the steering lines wrapped over ? Then cutting the line just above the toggle should be easy, right? Why waste time looking for a particular line when cutting just above the toggle will release all the steering lines on that side at once? Unless just one or two of the steering lines are over, but even then would cutting the brake line at the toggle release the pressure enough to allow the canopy to fully inflate? ATTACK LIFE ! What about the Storm? Seems if you get the full CF version and change the slider it would be the perfect split for both FF and CF? ATTACK LIFE ! IT'S GOING TO KILL YOU ANYWAY!!!!

Advice for faster than normal landings
BUBLHED replied to TerminatorSRT4's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
*** I think Scotts' advice is more appropriate for someone that is having "problems" with there flare and landings. Brians' advice I feel is for somebody that has consistantly decent landings and just wants to get alittle better. I really like Brians book but I feel that it is a little advanced for alot of young jumpers. They need to get the basics of flight, traffic awareness and decent landings before moving on. Seems that quite a few are in to damn much of a hurry these days to become "skygods". There is no hurry people have fun and don't get broken!!! Enough ranting sorry. ATTACK LIFE ! Hard Touchdown, Gimped for a day or so.
BUBLHED replied to Tuna-Salad's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Landing hard shocks the nervous system and most likely in your case it takes awhile for your system to recover. I have jumped some really old ass f111 canopies and the most important thing I found was, flare early enough and flare ALL THE WAY. I emphasize all the way because I would turn my hands down ( thumbs pointing down) at the bottom to get just that much more stroke. My best landings have been when I felt like I had stopped and had to actually wait to be sat down on the ground. If that makes any sense. I guess I'm saying to sink the canopy in the last foot or so. Might work for you might not? ATTACK LIFE ! IT'S GOING TO KILL YOU ANYWAY!!!! -
dislocated shoulder while in freefall
BUBLHED replied to oldschoolkyle's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
*** Don't get your panties in a wad. I personally know P.T.'s that don't know these exercises. There are alot of fitness trainers that don't know them either. Bottomline is if the P.T. or Fitness Trainer is any good they will know them. The op just needs to find a good trainer of either method to help him assure a satisfactory result. ATTACK LIFE ! dislocated shoulder while in freefall
BUBLHED replied to oldschoolkyle's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
That's true no amount of exercise is going to fix or make up for a tear. It is very possible for the shoulder to partially dislocate w/o having a tear. I in fact have a partial labral tear and keeping the surrounding muscles strong and flexible has controlled any dislocation problems. the op said he had followed up with a physician who implied he would be good to go soon. I only have to believe that his physician does not think that he has any significant tear. Therefore my original advice stands. This is based on 25 years of working closely with neuro and orthopedic physicians in surgical, trauma and out-patient situations. ATTACK LIFE ! IT'S GOING TO KILL YOU ANYWAY!!!!
