  1. Actually I agree but as I said a more modern canopy a ZP 230 isn't out of the question when and if he gets to the point that he and his instructors think he has the skill to handle it. I started in the 80s when the PD 9 cell was the hot canopy I wouldn't recommend a full f-111 canopy these days, to many other and better options. imho Also a 230 still puts him slightly under 1.2 wl so in answer to his question he is only stuck on a 270 if he is comfortable with that size and performance, nothing wrong with that either ,fly what you are comfortable with and can handle in all situations. No need to downsize I haven't and don't really intend to I like nice cushy landings ATTACK LIFE ! IT'S GOING TO KILL YOU ANYWAY!!!!
  2. Wasn't recommending anything if you read my post. That is what I did. Not saying he should do what I did. ATTACK LIFE ! IT'S GOING TO KILL YOU ANYWAY!!!!
  3. I came off of student status jumping a PD230 at a weight of 240 plus gear for years. This is an older canopy "F-111" type fabric, so I wouldn't see a modern ZP 230 being a problem. Just my 2 cents Not saying you should do what I did. Just showing an example that if your instructors and you think you are ready a 230 isn't totally unreasonable ATTACK LIFE ! 4. Does anyone have any idea who the manufacturer of this suit would be? Thanks ATTACK LIFE ! IT'S GOING TO KILL YOU ANYWAY!!!!
  5. Yes I did see that update. However this could have easily happened in a AAD fire 2 out situation. As of today it seems to me that it is really just a game of odds. Are my odds of being knocked out, or having a loss of altitude awareness and needing an AAD to save me better than the odds of having an AAD fire at an inopportune time injuring or killing me. I personally don't know haven't had ether happen to me as of yet. I do feel like a smarter AAD could swing the odds more in the favor of the AAD doing no harm, therefore making an unforeseen event much more livable ATTACK LIFE ! IT'S GOING TO KILL YOU ANYWAY!!!!
  6. There's an incident report from today that shows how much we need an improved AAD. Two out to a downplane leading to a fatality. I personally am glad you are taking on this challenge and wish you all the best with your product. If you meet your claims Your system will be on my back. ATTACK LIFE ! 7. Are you sure the 1400cc harley engines are less than 70hp? The buell xb I ride I thought was around 100hp. Just looked it up to double check. Stock 96 cu in 1584 cc Harley engine max HP is 68. As far as picking the bike up, if she is taught the correct way to pick it up should be no problem. I have seen a 130 lb girl pick up a 900 lb Ultraglide by herself. It's all in the technique. 8. When I went from Tn. to FL. all I had to do was take the written for both and the driving test for the car and got both endorsements, no biggie. Never left the parking lot in the car either. ATTACK LIFE ! IT'S GOING TO KILL YOU ANYWAY!!!!
  9. I've had everything from dirtbikes to Hayabusas to Harleys. The Sportster is a very common first bike, the 883 or the 1200 really doesn't matter theres not that much of a weight differance. As far as the power you have to remember that Harleys are V-twins and the power is early in the rpm range. They are very low on horsepower compared to the other (rice burner) bikes and will not get her into as much trouble as quickly. A 1450cc HD engine in stock trim is only about 68 horsepower. The HD Dyna series is a good choice for beginners as it isn't as top heavy and handles well. For shorter riders it is easily lowered. My buddy is 5'8" tall and the dyna line fits him the best of all the HD products. my current ride (It is for sale) 2008 Screaming Eagle road King ATTACK LIFE ! IT'S GOING TO KILL YOU ANYWAY!!!!
  10. Since you are smart enough to admit that you don't know all that much about gear. I like your plan to have it inspected before putting it up for sale. It will give you an idea of what you've got and if it's a safe canopy for someone to jump. Plus an experienced rigger might be able to help you to price it and very well could know someone looking for exactly that type of canopy. Ebay and the DZ.com classifieds are the two places I watched daily when looking for my new to me gear. As said earlier the local DZ can be a great place to sell it also. PS. My new rig was inspected and modified buy the manufacturer and you better bet I had it inspected again by my local rigger just to be sure. Overkill? maybie but I am trusting my life to this stuff and for me peace of mind makes it worth the added expense. ATTACK LIFE ! IT'S GOING TO KILL YOU ANYWAY!!!!

  12. Just got my new to me gear for $3700.00 the rig is 5 years old with only 12 jumps on the whole thing and it included a cypres II that already had the 4 year done. Great gear is out there if you search for it. BTW I came across this deal when doing the research on another rig I was looking at. You never know where you'll find something. ATTACK LIFE ! 14. Loved my Unit III. ...pull at 4 grand, turn a couple more points, in the saddle by 1500! That was my first canopy! Mine was modified so it was open in only 1200'. A buddy of mine jumped it one day and almost cut away a perfectly good snivel, He never asked to borrow my gear again for some reason. ATTACK LIFE ! IT'S GOING TO KILL YOU ANYWAY!!!!
  15. I've got one here now same thing. had some container mods done fresh repack of reserve and main. I looked over the mods, checked all the pins, checked the bridle routing. I can't wait to jump it. As said earlier why waste a good pack job? I feel that ANY certified rigger can pack at least as good as I can or better. ATTACK LIFE ! IT'S GOING TO KILL YOU ANYWAY!!!!
  16. The answer I give to this question is. In order to "lose your stomach" you need a combination of two or more movements as in the up and sudden down of a roller coaster. When the movement doesn't constitute a sudden reversal as in skydiving or going off of a diving board you don't get that feeling. Most people can relate to this as most have at least jumped from a diving board or the side of a pool. If your pilot is in a climb and suddenly pitches down you can get that feeling, but when jumping the general change in direction is just downward, like running and jumping from a diving board. I personally think that feeling is the result of negative g's which aren't experienced in a jump whether from a plane of a cliff. ATTACK LIFE ! IT'S GOING TO KILL YOU ANYWAY!!!!
  17. Is ther some way to rig her cage so that you could put a mouse in there so she could get in but "dinner" can't get out? ATTACK LIFE ! IT'S GOING TO KILL YOU ANYWAY!!!!
  18. My rig was shipped UPS today. Now I scared. Sorry to hear this. Thieves just chap my ass. Bravo Bev Suits. ATTACK LIFE ! IT'S GOING TO KILL YOU ANYWAY!!!!
  19. From my previous waterbeds, Look near the wall under the headboard where the bottom frame doesn't meet the wall. If there is no "blocker panel" in there between the two pieces she could be between the bottom support frame and the frame the mattress actually sits in. They can get into and behind almost anything good luck in the search. I'm sure she'll show up. She's bound to get hungry sometime. ATTACK LIFE ! IT'S GOING TO KILL YOU ANYWAY!!!!

  21. I think what you are doing is a great way to invest in our sport. Two thumbs up to you sir. ATTACK LIFE ! IT'S GOING TO KILL YOU ANYWAY!!!!
  22. Dave, I think you bring up a very probible issue. I like the fact stateI earlier that you could potentially use the same container throughout several main sizes. i have also always believed that the larger the reserve the better. I want a nice big fluffy canopy over my head when things have gone to sh*t. So the optima in larger sizes is to me the best thing PD has done in quite some time. I just hope that the ST&A's and the DZO's will step up and when some jumper shows up with a reserve that is way too small for there size and skill, they DON'T let them jump it. This single act if done uniformly throughout our community would be the only thing that I can think of to prevent people from doing exactly what you have pionted out. There are alot of ways to save money, lets not get into the habit of jumping a reserve too small to save a few hundred bucks! Our lives are worth more than that. ATTACK LIFE ! Whether you like Racers or not, as far as service Jumpshack ROCKS!! I am not technically there customer but Suzie knew of a rig that was a great choice for me, that One of her customers was selling. She went out of her way to help us put this deal together. I can't say enough about the service and what a pleasure everyone there was to deal with. I can't wait to jump my New To ME racer. It's just too bad that this level of service and caring is rare these days. Suzie you ROCK!! Thank You. Mike ATTACK LIFE ! IT'S GOING TO KILL YOU ANYWAY!!!!
  24. I jumped a ripcord main for my entire student status. I never once looked at the main ripcord before pulling, now the reserve ripcord is another story. Have a long talk with your instructors they should be able to spot the reason for your instability. ATTACK LIFE ! IT'S GOING TO KILL YOU ANYWAY!!!!
