  1. LOL that one with the puppy in the food can is hilarious! "Skydiving is a door" Happythoughts
  2. thanks! Yeah i was just so stoked how close he was i didn't even think to get lower down. It was hard, they were pretty tame, but sudden movements were making them edgy so i had to move slowly. Coupled with a huge bag of nuts and a coffee in my other hand/arm, it made it pretty hard to stay steady so i just fired away! I would like to be able to focus more on the head/tail stuff like that, but the cam only has x3 zoom (its a little Olympus Mju 400 http://images-eu.amazon.com/images/P/B000087QQ6.02.MZZZZZZZ., so i can't get too specific over what shot i can frame up close - well not on animals anyways as they tend to bolt when i get close. I was probably about 2-3ft from him or so. Yeah i like the idea to shoot from multiple angles - i'll do that more, and keping the sun ibehind me - good ideas thanks
  3. what do y'all think? I think i got the frame good, and nice and close, but what else? Any feedback appreciated. "Skydiving is a door" Happythoughts
  4. as in what breed? Anyone know? http://home8.inet.tele.dk/schjetne/Trygve_5_uker1.jpg "Skydiving is a door" Happythoughts
  5. got any specific spots? Sylvia's on Lennox is meant to be good, although not strictly a bbq joint. "Skydiving is a door" Happythoughts
  6. hi im in Manhattan/Queens for a couple of days next month. Where is the best BBQ in the city? I heard Pearson's on the East side is about the best that NYC has to offer. Anyone got any insider info? Also, hit me up with other recommends for other "locals" spots if you feel like it. Thanks "Skydiving is a door" Happythoughts
  7. LOL thanks, that's given me an idea to make the car a little more safe "Skydiving is a door" Happythoughts
  8. yeah i figured T cut wouldnt cut it really. There are no dents thankfully - i think i'm just going to (strange as this sounds) wait and hope someone drives into me and that way i can get new panels. Obviously injuring only the car and not myself. Point noted on the rust thing too - thanks nac. Anyhoo, such is life - there are WAY more people out there in WAY worse positions than i am. Got to keep perspective on this and remain calm. But man, I WOULD LOVE 10 SECONDS IN A ROOM WITH THE KID THAT DID THIS, JUST 10 SECONDS IS ALL I NEED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Seriously though, I'll try and get some filler and paint over it or something. At least i can still drive to the dz right!
  9. i dont know if its bare metal im looking at, but its a clear white gouge - the bonnet is history - the other 2 panels on the drivers side go from bad(where they dug the key in) to thin and not bad (obviously where they walked off and the key mark wasnt as deep, as they moved onto the next panel) Can't afford to do this through insurance - my protected No Claims is out of lives (thanks to the break in last month) so i lose 2 years worth - plus i would have to report i claimed twice when i come to reknew - all of that = massive new premium come reknewal time. I guess i'm stuck with the car now until it dies. No way anyone would buy it in this state. "Skydiving is a door" Happythoughts
  10. the way i'm going i'll be lucky if the car is still alive next month. Last month they did £800 worth of damage by breaking in and stealing nothing. Insurance covered all but £250 of it. Today, after having the car back for a week, i find out they have keyed the hood and all down the drivers side - 3 panels, approx £800 worth of damage again - which i cant afford - so that means the car stays in this worthless state. Ironically one of the panels that wasn't touched was the new door that was put on. What is the matter with people to make them do something lke this? It's not personal because i don't know anyone in the area - i know the people in my building (all 3 of them) and they are kind and good natured. It's parked outside my apartment and until now i have never had any trouble with it. WTF If anyone has any good ideas on getting rid of deep key marks, can you let me know? Is T Cut any good on stuff like this? "Skydiving is a door" Happythoughts
  11. ah ok i hear ya. "Skydiving is a door" Happythoughts
  12. i agree with what you said, but i don't think im "committing suicide everytime i jump unless i do something". That would imply i'm trying to kill myself - or - i like the idea of death. I'm doing something that makes me feel more alive. Serious injury/death is the outcome if you don't do what you have been trained, or by Murphy showing up, but is the one thing we all want to avoid at all costs right? 13. as a non BASE jumper and a newbie skydiver, i don't exactly have time as something to benchmark my thoughts against, but ever since i was young, i've always wanted to climb up tall things and jump off them, flying off and safely descending. I've always thought that it's too damn scary though, and i'm not really a big one for taking risks as it is, so i can honestly say i won't ever base. What i was wondering was, is anyone jumping now who like me, always said they never would, but then changed their mind? If so, how comes you decided to? Just curious
  14. hi i have just finished my first project - a 11 min or so long promo of Giles Fabris' camera skills, and my editing work. Anyone know where i can upload it? It's 345 mb and it's a Quicktime movie. Many thanks "Skydiving is a door" Happythoughts
  15. i know bill is, who else is headed out there? Man what a way to kick off the new year - good luck everyone, have a great trip (like that will be an issue ) and look out for each other! "Skydiving is a door" Happythoughts
  16. QuoteMind set. I'd have to say I know several freefyers that fly on their belly. I call them Cameramen. I've watched some extremely talented and creative camera men that fly very freely all over the place. They come up with some very dynamic video. reply] i agree with hookitt. Who was it that said free flying came out of just wanting to free your mind to fly how you wanted in any way without limits? I can't remember but anyway that about sums it up for me. I don't think you can give something like that a textbook definition, it's more a way. Damn that sounds like some fortune cookie material right there. "Skydiving is a door" Happythoughts
  17. thanks again Slayer, will work on this tonight and let you know. Thanks for the info on the key frame rate - that had me boggled for a while too! "Skydiving is a door" Happythoughts
  18. cool video, thanks Kevin! "Skydiving is a door" Happythoughts
  19. How is that possible?? Can you post the vid? Sounds nuts. "Skydiving is a door" Happythoughts
  20. who has been on a plane when the pilot did a little zero g just for the fun of it? Got it for a few seconds in Spain last year and it was scary initially - but fun as hell! "Skydiving is a door" Happythoughts
  21. thanks for that "Skydiving is a door" Happythoughts
  22. how do you adjust your timing? Add more time to a count, or watch the ground or what? And by how much? "Skydiving is a door" Happythoughts
  23. hi Slayer - a few questions. Most of your settings work great - the audio codec (QDesign2) made the entire audio sound like it had been run through a phaser effect though, so i ditched that and went straight for a standard 24 bit codec. Also, the video in the QT .mov is blocky, pixellated and interlaced. Do you know why this is? How can i get the video to output properly, do i have to use a different video codec? Many thanks "Skydiving is a door" Happythoughts
  24. everytime i think i have this sorted out, i read more stuff on here, that get's pretty indepth and heavy and i have to think about this again, which is hard as im pretty stupid when it comes to physics. I know the ideal is to try and leave 1000ft of ground distance travel between exiting groups, but as this is not always easy to do, especially if a JM is stopping you from getting too close to the door because they think you will just dive straight out, i usually do a combination of a count while watching the previous jumper(s), and the ground - obviously increasing the length of count when uppers are stronger. However, can someone please tell me how i should be adjusting my count for different disciplines/group sizes that go before i go please? I know that the flatter groups have more drift than the freeflyers due to being in the air longer, and at my home dz, flat flyers go first, then the freeflyers, big to large groups, to account for this (and extra climbout time needed) - what happens if im a solo/2 way freeflyer out after a 2 or 4 way flat group? Is there a way to say, "well uppers are fairly strong so i know there will be some significant drift, and they are a 4 way, so maybe i should add on x more seconds to my count" or something? I KNOW you should look to see distance covered on the ground, i know this, but not always being able to see straight down out the plane makes this difficult, and also my inexperience means i'm still not 100% what 1000ft across the ground will look like at different points along different run ins on jump run. Am i making any sense? Thanks "Skydiving is a door" Happythoughts
