"Ask Walt": Have Etiquette Questions? I have Answers!
masterrig replied to waltappel's topic in The Bonfire
There are some things men learn very early in life. 1. We can pee anywhere, but taking a crap is an entirely different matter. We always look to see what we are sitting on. It's not just a matter of checking to see if the rim is down. Even if it is, someone may have pissed all over it. We also don't want someone else urine or feces splashing up our butts so we make sure the bowl is clean. 2. NEVER, NEVER, NEVER walk into a public men's restroom barefoot. Walt ______________________________________ I learned, years ago, to put the toilet seat down! I know, I know but, years ago, my first 'ex', got up during the night to go to the bathroom. Trying not to disturb me she didn't turn any lights on and went to the bathroom. Well, she DID disturb my sleep with a loud, horrible scream! I got out of bed like I'd been stuck in the ass by a cattle prod. I turned on the light and there she was... up to her middle in the toilet bowl. Trying to keep a straight face, took a lot of doing... trust me. Since then, I put the seat down when I'm done. Chuck -

You can be a really good guy and do as Walt suggested or, deny, deny, deny... and no pictures! I really like Walt's response... claim being drunk! Chuck -

You are definitely qualified as an arbiter of social rights and wrongs, do's and don'ts, and the finer points of proper etiquette. Feel free to field any questions! Walt __________________________________ Thanks, Man! Chuck -
What to do with kids speeding in my neighborhood? Creative minds needed!

We've had the same problem on our street. My wife and I went to all the neighbors on the block and got them to call in. We also got license numbers of 'violators'. There's, like manny streets, a lot of kids around. We told the neighbors to be sure and mention that when calling the police 'non' emergency number. We were amazed at the police response. Every so often, we've had to do that but, it works. I got to admit, some of the ideas presented here are pretty cool, though. Some of them will get YOU in trouble. Chuck -
To quote Forest Gump, “Stupid is as stupid does”. Sell em a new set.

Well! I'll be damned! Chuck

Makes you wonder how many other critical things were decided by vote and not the reality of the situation. _______________________________ The ones that get me, are those who sell their mains to buy a new main and sell the risers with the main! Chuck

All my prayers for your Dad, you and your family. I can understand. I went through similar with my Mom. Chuck

_____________________________________- I do see your point, about the media! Just read where Kerr was in Thailand to visit a clinic about a sex-change! He drank champagne, beer (he even crushed the beer can with his hand) and wine with his white tablecloth meal, on the flight back to the U.S. They said, they were 'trying to loosen him up, hoping he'd talk'. How stupid! It wouldn't hold up. The investigator who allowed that is an idiot. You are so right though. Chuck

It's not all "glitz." It does have some more flashy casinos (like Costners Midnight Star and Gold Dust ), but it also has smaller casinos with "rougher" interiors that aren't glamourized (April, those are the ones that I like too). And honestly those are the ones that I can sit at the table longest before loosing the $20 that I had allocated to that fun.... And I some times even win. The city itself is fantastic. I know 100 years isn't "Historic" to some of the non-US types, but it's cool looking at the (re-done) old buildings of Deadwood. And the culture of the town ... maybe not as much of a caricature as the show protrays, and maybe a little played toward the tourist but still rugged. It's also fun to walk up to the present Boot Hill (it's been moved a couple of times due to development and probably some landslide issues that the town has) And it surrounded by the Hills!!!! Hard to think of a better way to spend a day (besides skydiving) than to be relaxing in the Black Hills (yesterday, took some 4 wheelers out to some land of a friend of mine, trails through Spearfish Canyon, took the Tommy, an MP5

_______________________________ I'd like to see what Deadwood looks like today. As for gambline... I don't do it. I'm a sore loser! Chuck Thats why I told you to bring the guns I'd like to see Bill & Janes gravesites and see if any of the old saloons are there, unless they glamourized them...yuck.~~April _____________________________________ From any of the pictures I've seen, it's all 'glitz' and all about the gamblin'. ___________________________________ Thanks, for the words! My wife and I are getting frustrated. The market in our town is so 'great' yet, our house has been on the market for 6-weeks. We're in contract on another house and need to sell this one first, so we can buy the other house. It's really, not a whole lot of fun. Lots of anxiety and frustration. We just have to keep going, though. Thanks, again. By the way, I was kinda jerkin your string, a bit in my first post. Chuck

__________________________________ Karr might be guilty but, not for the murder of the Ramsey girl, I don't believe. I tend to agree with you. Especially after closely watching his interview and his body language. BUT, the police have to follow any possible lead. I do believe, Karr is crazy as a bed-bug. Chuck

In regard to the language on 'Deadwood', we don't really have any idea how people spoke in that time in our history. These were people of 'ill-repute' and every part of society. They were in search of gold and getting rich... quick. The words used in the show were around at that time and were used rather freely. Deadwood is not a 'slick' Hollyweird version of the American West. It is a well researched show with a lot of fact. It shows how people were in the gold-rush settlements. Chuck

Here in West Texas, I've seen mostly girls wearing them. Wouldn't be so bad if, they'd at least tuck the pockets back up. I've only seen one or two guys wearing them like that. They look really bad but... oh well. Chuck

Of course he was kidding, all of his Wranglers that he's cut up into shorts are cut well above the knee. Infact I think the pockets hang out of some of them. _____________________________ Bwa-hahahahaha... It's a good thing, I wasn't drinkin' coffee, when I opened that! Chuck
