AZ Immigration Bill Invites Racial Profiling of US Citizens

Might have to give-p 'rainbow stew' and free Bubble-Up, too. It appears, I'm not the only one who sees a problem on our border. The border state governors are now, trying to get our U.s. government to assign National Guard Troops on our Southwest border to help Border Patrol Agents. Chuck -

I know it's not your intent, but the net effect of what you say is to condone institutionalized racism. Plain and simple. In the criminal justice world, it's an open secret that people are stopped for "DWB violations" - DWB meaning "Driving While Black". I guess in the southern border states the "B" stands for "Brown" and is official policy. If the US Constitution is to mean a damn, it must be honored in practice, all the time. Selectively honoring it in the breach is not honoring it at all. Maybe some want the United States to be that way, but I do not. I live in a County where the population is a majority of Hispanic people. We have several 'old' families who settled this area. We all get along great. I've talked with these folks about the situation on our border and they want something done about it, too. They aren't a bunch of radicals, just hard working folks who are tired of the problem. They get their homes and ranches broken into just like the white folks. They are interested in how the Arizona law 'shakes-out'. Chuck -

Lots of the illegals are Polish, Irish, Croatian, English, Scottish, Latvian, Ukranian etc, who, being Caucasian, are never stopped anyway. I'm trying to use a little 'common sense' here in regard to a problem we have with a large number of people coming to or already in this country who do not have the best intentions for this country and they all just happen to be of another 'color'. I'm sorry that it's come to this but the reality of it is, it's become a problem. We're getting U.S. citizens murdered on our soil by illegals. I'm not a racist and have no intention of being one. When I hear directly from Hispanics who are legally here, complaining about the problem... we've got a problem. I'm not making this stuff up, it's happening and a lot of folks are getting pretty nervous about it. Chuck -

Unfortunately, over 12-million illegals have made it tough on legals. To me, the legals should be madder than hell at them. Doesn't seem to work that way. Chuck -

Sometimes in life, you find you might have to give something up for a greater goal. Till the problem is solved we may have to go along with some things we may not like. One problem with a good portion of our society is, we're spoiled. Think about it! Would you rather sit-back with a false feeling of security and just let violent gangs and drug cartels (just an example) slowly take-over this country just so you don't have to show a particular document? Every time I register my vehicles, I have to show proof of insurance. Whenever I vote, I have to show proof of who I am. In one way or another, I've had to do that at some time or another, all my life. No big deal, to me. Also, I don't foresee a time I'd be 'detained'... I've got nothing to hide. Chuck Chuck -

This country has a real problem... a drug problem and it's causing cartels in Mexico to wage war over smuggling routes and it's spilling over into the U.S. Yeah, I know! This is going to get the 'pro-legalizing dope' crowd all worked-up. We have to do something about it. As a result, Arizona took a stand. It's unfortunate that some folks might be inconvenienced by it but maybe a little 18th. or 19th. century thinking might be just what it takes. Chuck -

You bet! The Mexican government issues information to 'potential' illegals on what to take with them, best times of travel and etc. to help them on their journey to the U.S. Chuck -

No, it's already here, some stretches of freway you drive 5 miles and see 3 photo-cameras. So we're here, now we're just expanding our protocol. But piggies willbe stopping more people for driving while brown. I do and we'll see how the state courts rule, as well as the SCOTUS in following years. Right, we're a fascist dirty fucking corporate-loving nation; we hate to penalize what we cater to. If teh jobs dry up, the illegals go home or elsewhere. I'm not advocating illegal immigration and not advocating Nazi practice either, justthat illegalizing and over-enforcing issues makes them worse, as with 1920's prohibition. Who are you saying is being greedy? So we should start with civil rights deprivations for Mexican-Americans and other people of color? Dude, I live in Phoenox, not a border town but may as well be. I worl with a lot of Mexican-Americans, so might be illegals for all I know, but it's not my job to turn them in and I don't want legislation making me a cop or a criminal if I don't become one. Tell ya what, patrol teh border, build a wall if ya want, stop being such fascist good little Republicans and actually hold businesses accountable. That's my start, yours involves civil rights depravations of Mexican-Americans and others. From the party who gives us tea-bagging constitutional bla, bla, bla, ladies and gentlemen, we have hypocrisy and constitutional ignorance. Well, for one thing, I am not a facist nor am I a republican. I will agree with you about holding 'all' employers of illegals accountable. I don't agree with your bunching-up legals and illegals as one group. I do resent ANYONE entering this country illegally and benefitting from this country of ours, while actual U.S. citizens are footing the bill for them. Anyone wanting to enter this country can do it legally or stay the hell out. Establishing some kind of work program where they can come here and work but can't stay wouldn't be a bad idea. I'm sure, this new law in Arizona will be tested but I'm also curious to see how it works-out. Chuck -

Greedy comes to mind, too. We have to start somewhere. Those people in this country who don't live along our border either don't or won't see the problem or just choose to ignore it. It's not happening in their neighborhood so what's the deal. I'll tell you what. How about, we ALL ignore the problem, just let it go and see what happens. Would that suit you? Chuck -

There's the 'knee-jerk' reaction I'm referring to. You seem to feel that all of a sudden, there is going to be some form of nazi, police state take-over. You read what Shotgun posted. To me, it doesn't give law enforcement too much 'wiggle room'. I do think, you have a valid point in regard to penalizing employers... all of them, for hiring illegals. Hit employers who hire them and hit them in the wallet hard. Chuck -

Are you F'N kidding? Cops have sooooooo much lattitude it's sick. If they kill someone, they at most lose their badge in most cases. That's a prosecutorial issue, not LEO. And again, the courts, esp the trial courts in neck states are really right-leaning. As well, you kinda support my fascist argument in that the gov doesn't wanna charge business, esp large business = fascism / corporatism. It'snot their job, just as I have no duty to report unless a special relationship exists. That doesn't go as far as making it legal to give aid to illegals. Do you want to pass laws requiring people to turn other sin? Me thinks you don't. Apparently you're not reading well, let me make this perfectly clear: THE ISSUE IS THAT PEOPLE OF COLOR WHO ARE ALOS LEGAL US CITIZENS VIA BIRTH OR NATURALIZATION WILL BE TARGETED, STOPPED W/O PC/RS, AND HARRASSED. Did that clear it up for you? No one that I give credit to is defending the illegals, I'm sure some fnatical groups are, I just don't agree with them. So is your answer to state that brown = PC/RS? Please answer, is it your notion / assertion that if cops get a free-brown card, that is, anyone brown can be stopped whether on foot or in a car w/o any cause whatsoever and asked for papers? Please answer. Right, so one demonizes the otehr, but either way they are all one in the same, right? I just see how you can logically tie togther a 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th or higher generation Mexican-American to an illegal alien. I mean I see why people do it, but it just isn't logical. Many legal Mexican-Americans dislike illegal immigration, does that mean they should be required to turn in those they know of or be facing criminal charges themselves? Does that mean they shoudl be subject to harrassing stops because they happen to look like illegals? HYPOTHETICAL: Mexico discovers massive amounts of light sweet crude, they become vastly rich as a nation and no longer wnat to come to fascist-land. Now Canada encounters political/financial problems and they want assylum here and many sneak over the border. Do we go after those GD Canadian illegal immigrants, or is it ok since they're white? This question is rhetorical, I know the answer from most Americans, esp in neck states. OK, so teh problem here is one of statutory language or prosecutorial incompetence; let's fix the problem, not new ones. FUCK YES, AS THEY WISH. Which is what I said, many brown skinned people don't like illegals, but they don't want to be harrassed due to the gov being too incompetent, refusing to punish businesses, etc. We agree there is a problem, giving pigs free run to stop w/o PC/RS is very dangerous. It boils-down to one thing... Arizona found they had a very serious problem. The U.S. Govt. won't do anything about it because our bought-off politicians have their head so deep in the sand you have to pum air to them, won't do anything. Arizona is doing something about it. I think too, there's a great deal of 'knee-jerk reaction'right now. I know too, there are too many residents here in Texas who live along our border, who are sick and tired of their homes being broken-into by illegals. Where's their 'civil rights'? Chuck -

Finally, a little common sense from the right. I say employer sanctions are part of the answer. The problem is, here in the US, we're fascist/corporatist and we don't hold employers accountable nearly enough. If no jobs, many willleave. There are laws on the books to penalize employers who hire illegals. The penalties can be fairly stiff. Rather the same for the laws that penalize people for selling guns to felons. Laws are useless when huge loopholes in enforcement exist Very good point. I don't believe, those loopholes are just an 'over-sight'. Chuck -

Please answer. I understand what you are saying about 'color'. I referred to it when I said that 12-million+ illegals have brought that down on 'people of color'. The Border Patrol can bring charges on a business. How far they get is another story. Do you really feel that law enforcement officers are going to suddenly go nuts stopping any and every 'brown skinned person'? When I hear it from the very people who are 'brown skinned' that they don't like the illegal problem and want something done about it... that tells me something. Chuck -

There are laws on the books to penalize employers who hire illegals. The penalties can be fairly stiff. Our government ties the hands of those sworn to enforce our laws. They might get by with charging a small business but trying to charge a business like Wal-Mart, isn't accepted. Like I said earlier, well over 12,000,000 illegals have brought this down on those legally here. They aren't going to turn-in their own... they don't work that way. You as well as many others are screaming about 'their' civil rights and constitutional rights yet, those of us who live along the border have to put-up with what illegals do. Where are OUR rights to live free of intimidation and fear? I'm not just talking about Anglos, I'm talking about the hispanic folks also, who are also tired of the illegals and ask our congressmen, 'what are they going to do about it'. I've gotten that straight from them! Chuck -

Absolutely! How about supporting significant penalties for employers who fail to make reasonable efforts to check employee's social security numbers? Maybe a significant number of contractors or chicken plant CEOs serving long jail sentences after being bankrupted by fines would send a message. If there were no jobs for illegals, there wouldn't be nearly as many people trying to come here. No need to throw US citizens and legal immigrants in jail for forgetting to carry their "papers" when running out to pick up a 6-pack. It would also help if we stopped undercutting Mexican farmers by subsidizing American farmers to sell overseas at less than the cost of production. Don What alot of people don't seem to understand is that the jobs are just a small prt of what brings them to the US. to many come here to have free health care and other benifits. Once they have a kid they can stay here, collect food stamps, welfare, and free medical care. they do not even need a job to be better off than in mexico. While collecting these free benifits they can work for cash and be even better off. cut them off of any fed or state money and alot would never come here. From talking with Border Patrol Agents I know here in Texas, we are also getting large numbers of gang members looking to get in on the very lucrative drug trade, here. Also, large numbers 'looking to join' gangs. I checked it out and there is not one single state in the U.S. that does not have an hispanic gang. Small towns along our border are seeing more and more cartel presence. We've got school buses being followed by cartel members in Fort Hancock, Texas. They are making their presence known. Our government isn't doing much to help the situation much, either. 2-3 weeks ago, a rancher was killed in Arizona either by drug runners or illegals. That really prompted Arizona to pass their law. With all this going on, Washington's attitude is; 'we don't have a problem on our border!' They need to come down here and see for themselves. We do, have a problem! Chuck -
