but it's not a sickness that the patient will recover from. I hadn't considered the medicare angle, either, though this sort of rationale detachment may not have a place in a good marriage. That's true. That was the best I could do, in regards to the wedding vows. Which don't seem to carry much weight these days. Anyhow, what Robertson said just seems to go against what he's preached in the past. The guy has really lost it and why anyone pays any attention to him is beyond me. Chuck

TThat's O.K. I can respect that. Chuck

Such a caring Christian. Since this is a kind of death does that mean euthanasia is okay for alzheimer's patients? "In sickness and in health!" I guess, Those are just words. I certainly don't look to Pat Robertson for advice. Chuck

I always heard : Cut off his horns, wipe his ass, and walk 'em by the fire Jon That'll work! Chuck

Some of that cheap crap that SHOULD have been ground up into burger might need seasoning..... a LOT of seasoning... but a good rib eye.....I could never ....nor would I want.... to change any of that flavor of the meat itself. Far too many people like to get rid of all the flavor of the meat.... and in someplace like an outdoor market in friggin Africa with "bush meat" hangin and getting rancid.... the spices certainly help with keeping you from gagging from that rancid meat smell and flavor.. but good bovine.. from a good butcher... NO WAY are spices needed.. EVER. That's right! Wipe it's ass... run it over the grill and serve it! Chuck

Forget the NFL, who's excited about College Football?

It's all about college football in the South! Chuck -
I don't care who marries who, either... I'm too busy leaving everyone else alone. Chuck

Completely invisible. It's all about Perry, with a little bit o' Romney tossed into the mix. Even Fox News (both TV and web) seems to be ignoring Paul. But frankly it seems he's never mentioned in any of the various news outlets' stories, whether broadcast or print. Even the day after the debate, I saw snippets of Perry and Romney being played, but none of Paul. The latest Fox News poll is pretty grim for Paul, too: http://www.foxnews.com/interactive/politics/2011/09/01/perry-overtakes-romney-as-top-gop-2012-pick-most-say-palin-should-stay-out-race/ I saw an excerpt from the most recent debate and at one point, Bachman confronted Perry about his connection with a certain pharmeceutical company. She referenced the said company 'donating' $5,000.00 to Perry's campaign fund. Perry responded with; "Do ypou really think I can be bought for $5,000.00?" Which begs the question... 'What is your price, Mr. Governor?" Chuck

Just goes to show... we have freedom of speech but we can still, be held accountable for what we say. As it should be. That rapper accomplished just what he wanted to do and now, he'll just sit-back and rake-in the money. Chuck

Feds warn of small airplane terror threats
masterrig replied to wayneflorida's topic in Speakers Corner
I heard this story on the news the other day and a small airport owner was interviewed in regard to the small aircraft/terrorist subject. The airport owner stated that his place was just too small for anything like that. In 1998, I was rigging for a small DZ at a small Panhandle airport in a cotton farming community. One Saturday, I was at the DZ and noticed five young men, obviously, not from Texas. I got to talking with the airport owner and he told me that the five young men were student pilots from Egypt and that he was 'well compensated' for his instruction. I didn't think much of it until the airport owner told me that when they first showed-up, they explained that they had opportunities back in their home country to fly large passenger aircraft but they only needed to know how to fly one way! The airport owner just blew it off as their form of humor. Three years later, 9/11 occurred. Those planes were flown... one way. I would say, no small airport is immune. Chuck -
Don't mean to interrupt things here but I've been wanting to ask you for some time now... what kind of ape or gorrila is that in your avatar? ...back to the thread. Chuck

From the pictures you supplied, I wouldn't mess with it. It appears in fairly rough condition. I would contact a reputable gunsmith/dealer and let him appraise it. To me, it looks like something to be framed and hung over your mantle. Chuck

Once again the media whips everyone into a frenzy...
masterrig replied to airdvr's topic in Speakers Corner
And what would your reaction have been had the storm not lost strength, the media had not given it nearly as much attention, and dozens of people had died? My reaction would have been that it's a hurricane. You have the ability to decide for yourself whether you should leave without the media hyping the situation. You seem to think that it's someone else's responsibility to make that decision for you. No, I don't think it is someone else's decision to make. I do think it is the responsibility of the media to inform the public of potentially life threatening situations such as this. The average person does not have the resources the media has access to such as satellite imagery, skilled meterologists, etc. Oh wait...we do have access to them. It is called "news media". There no way of telling how strong the storm would be once it made it's way to NYC. Had it remained a 2 or even escalated to a 3 you would be bitching that they didn't give enough attention to it. If, they would give periodic reports and notices, that's one thing. The news media milks every little tid-bit to keep the story going. Such as someone said earlier...a tree branch landing on a car or a beer can blowing across a street. It all gets to the point of nausea and pretty soon... noone is watching. Chuck -

I'm afraid of people that say they have no fear. They are truly dangerous. yep! They are either lying or dumber than a bag of hammers. True story! Everyone's afraid of something. Chuck It's all part of evolution. Those who truly have no fear are eliminated from the gene pool very quickly, usually by their own stupid blunders. Those who let their fears control them are also eliminated but at a much slower rate. Those who have fears but learn quickly to control those fears and use them to their advantage are the most likely to survive and produce offspring who have the same trait. I have often read publications proclaiming how to eliminate fear. Well, that entire idea is a bunch of bullshit. We can no more eliminate the emotion of fear than we can any other emotion. But we can learn to control it. That makes a lot of sense. Chuck

Are you actually being serious? You get the drift... You are being serious? Because honestly, if you actually think the only thing happening worldwide in the fight against illegal logging is that Gibson has had some fretboards confiscated by a federal agency acting on the whim of some vindictive anti-guitar environmentalist groups then I don't think it's even worth attempting a conversation. No! I do not think that Gibson is the only thing on their agenda. I just feel that having Gibson on their agenda is ridiculous. I think too, they are picking on Gibson to get $$$$. They have to fund their activities some way. OK... so you don't think that environmentalist groups aren't trying to police things in Madagascar and you don't think they are just centered on a big U.S. musical instrument manufacturer. You're not making it easy for anyone to understand your point of view. I believe, I have stated my view and asked questions to which I recieved no response. It's your twisting what I say that makes my point of view difficult to understand. What questions? The only ones I can see are impossible to answer as they're based on false assumptions (as you've admitted). My question to you would be how the 'enviros' will be getting funding from Gibson when it's the Feds prosecuting them? And as for twisting what you say? I just used your exact words! If they weren't what you meant then you should express yourself more clearly, or stop throwing around accusations you don't think are accurate. Allow me to re-process all this through my pea-sized brain and I'll get back with you. Chuck
-
Well, that's unfortunate, and probably overkill. It's no more accurate to paint environmentalists with a negative broad brush than it is to do that with, say, Texans. That was just one example. I could relate many more . I know, they aren't all alike and to generalise isn't good and I'm not trying to. I'm all in favor of saving our environment and feel that we should. It's the zealots that seem to stand out. I think that we need to save, protect or whatever, our environment but with some common sense. Chuck

(Note: I'm a guitar player and a huge Gibson fan) I support unbiased, even-handed and fair enforcement of the law. If Gibson is being treated like anyone else, so be it. If Gibson's being unduly singled-out, I'd like to know why. Same here! I've been a big fan of Gibson guitars since I was a kid. The oldest Gibson I have is a 1965 B-25. A few years after getting it, I had the plastic bridge replaced with an ebony bridge by a luthier in Mesquite... what a difference! I just can't imagine Gibson, purchasing 'illegal' wood. Chuck

The feds wouldn't have moved on it had the goody-goody environmentalists not bitched!!! Where does it say that? That's the 'usual' way it works. Is it? It's an old adage that you shouldn't attribute to malice what can be explained by incompetence, and government agencies don't usually need to be pressured into being pedantic arseholes. I don't think the Fish and Wildlife service have much jurisdiction over Madagascan and Indian rainforests. Makes perfect sense to me that they'd be policing what they can actually police. Aren't the enviros all over the world? Why aren't they 'policing' things in Madagasgar or wherever? Why are they just centered on a big U.S. musical instrument manufacturer? The whole thing stinks to high heaven. Chuck
