I didn't see anything in this that didn't qualify as anything more then just whining bullshit.

Why skydivers are great! (the story of the lost ring)
beowulf replied to AggieDave's topic in The Bonfire
I am not surprised. I have found that over all most skydivers are honest people. -

The Elija Bailey books had a robot that killed someone. The story that I refered to in I Robot was the mining one where they locked the two guys in that room for their own good and safety. The robots determined that humans were not capable of doing anything better then robots. Therefore humans were endagering themselves by being in control. -

The story almost mirrors one of Isaac Asimov's short stories in the book I Robot. It was one of the more interesting stories. All of the stories are scenarios where robots would malfunction but still be within the three laws. Very good books. Well thought out. He was one smart S.O.B Just saw the movie. It was great. Followed the idea in the story very well. -
I would rather be surprised. It doesn't matter to me how I die, as long as I have lived life to it's fullest.

go see a doctor. A doctor would be able to give you real information about your problem. Anyone here would be guessing.

Are you a "goal oriented" skydiver?
beowulf replied to skybytch's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
my goal is to be a really old skydiver and die of old age. How is that for a goal -
I wouldnt jump with him again. I most likely would had some harsh words to say after landing.

I have always been considered odd. I guess it's mostly because I don't talk a lot and avoid groups of people. Even at the dropzone I tend to avoid groups of people larger then 3 and am very quiet in any group setting.

hmm I said Wrench and blue I don't see how any tool or color would have anything to do with this.

Ever been in a real knife fight and NOT been cut?
beowulf replied to Tonto's topic in Speakers Corner
the closest I ever came to being in a knife fight is my little brother was really frustrated while trying to fight me so he grabbed a kitchen knife and came running at me. So I threw a blanket that happened to be near by, over him and shoved him into a wall. He has always had a real bad temper. Other then that thankfully I have never been in a knife fight and hope I never have to. -
yea you tell them it is definetly PoP. At least that is what I grew up with.

Why would anyone think that the Gov. is obligated to tell the whole truth when that has never happened?

http://www.cnn.com/2004/US/07/01/cosby.comments.ap/index.html I have a lot of respect for Bill Cosby. He is saying things that really need to be said. Too many Blacks are not focusing on educating their kids and preparing them to be competitive in the market place. At some point everyone has to stop finding blame else where and look at themselves and say what am I doing to improve myself. Small steps are all it takes. This doesn't just apply to minorities, it applies to anyone that is blaming anything else but themselves for where they are in life. I like to say that I am where I am because that is where I am most comfortable. If I don't like where I am in life then I need to start pushing out into the unknown and getting out of my comfort zone. No excuses.

Religion, who, what and how do you believe/practice
beowulf replied to ChileRelleno's topic in Speakers Corner
I will be very surprised if there are any skydiving Jehovah's Witness's. Any sport that is considered high risk is strongly discouraged. -
Before I had my A licence I had already encountered having to land backing up. I don't recall anyone ever explaining to me what to do in that case. At the time I was going to land in a field with sprinkler heads that were set about 3 feet above ground and about 10 ft in a grid threw out the field. I was very concerned about hitting one of them and doing myself serious damage. Some how I realized that I would not have to flare as much as normal and continue to control the canopy after touching ground and directing it into the ground to avoid being dragged. I have recently noticed experienced skydivers that as soon as they touch ground immediately stop controlling their canopies and end up getting dragged. I don't have a lot of jumps so I have never said anything. I don't think that it would be well received from someone that doesn't have thousands of jumps. Students should be taught what to do if they ever find themselves having to land in high winds.

Anyone know the pairs to switch for an RJ45 local loopback?
beowulf replied to PhillyKev's topic in The Bonfire
I don't know who you would contact. But I doubt that they would give you that info. I had a laptop stolen that had ICQ set to log in at startup. I was able to get the ipaddress of the person that was using it. I gave the address to the police officer that was investigating and he was unable to get anything from AOL about the person using the laptop. ISP's are not very friendly when it comes to divulging info about their users. -

hmm sounds like you have the privilege of dealing with the company providing you your T1 line. We have SBC and it was real pain in the ass trying to convince them that the problem was in their hardware and not ours. That is once we tested everything up to the DMark. -

beowulf replied to PhillyKev's topic in The Bonfire
hmmm This doesn't make sense to me. loopback is for testing. example recently we were having trouble with errors in our T1 circuit and so we did a loopback test on our CSU/DSU to rule out any problems with it. Ok to perform a loopback test we disconnected it from the DMark which is located two feet behind the CSU/DSU. and plugged the cable into a loopback jack which is just a small ciruit board with a rj45 jack on it. sounds like your router has an internal CSU/DSU and you are wanting to connect it to your T1. Then you would need to use the T1 crossover cable. At least I think that is right. Ours was setup before I started. I never needed to look that info up. -

For a T1 1 > 5 2 > 4 3 > 3 4 > 2 5 > 1 6 > 6 7 > 7 8 > 8 Ohhh I see. don't deal much with routers. Have never needed to know that. -

I believe the pins that are in use are 1,2,3 and 6 if you switch 1,2 with 3,6 it will give you a crossover cable. Best to follow the color coding shown in the previous post. 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8 on one end and 3,6,1,4,5,2,7,8 on the other. Should give you a crossover cable
