hmph just wait to you start doing integration. I would help but its been a few years since I last did any calculus and have never needed it. I could remember how to do even the simplest derivative with out having to break out my old text book first.

I don't see any options that fit me. As a teenager I tried the different tobacco products, but never made any of them into habits. I currently don't use any tobbaco products at all. I do drink on occaisons. I have never and will never try any illegal drugs such as cocaine and marijuana. I have taken drugs that were prescribed by doctors.

I never seem to speed much going to the DZ, but on the way back I generally seem to have my head in the clouds and forget that I a driving at times. I have caught myself speeding a few times on the way home. Guess the excitement just doesn't wear off that quickly.

dual screen is really nice. Matrox makes a decent dual screen video card and so does ATI. They run around $100. At work all of our designers have dual screen systems. Their video cards run about $700. It is convenient to have two monitors.

What do you mean "if it moves?" Where would Skyfest move to? J??? This isn't funny! Skyfest needs to stay right here in Dallas! Skyfest is a blast! -
My thought is thats his problem not mine. If he feels that way then so what!

hmm no one here has mentioned my favorite Heinlen book Have space suit will travel A teacher gave that to me when I was in 4th grade. Ever since then I was hooked on Heinlen. Great author.

Isaac Asimov wrote a short story entitled "Silly asses" or something like that. I can't remember exactly what the title was. but anyway it was about two aliens that were examining Earth culture and commenting on how they won't need to help bring earthlings into their modern age because they were going to blow themselves up in a nuclear holocaust. I just thought it fit into this topic. Interesting story.

If you believe that 'life' is bigger than just you, and the world is bigger than your lifetime - why wouldn't you think small changes could have great impact? Think about the woman you're married to. Think about how you met. If any of the things surrounding your meeting had changed, would you still have met? If I didn't go to an SSI Freefly Competition in Maine - and just had my heart broken - I might never have met and aggressively pursued the guy that I am now going to marry 5 years later. In other words, you might have won the world cup of canopy piloting if I hadn't met my fiancé.

Sometimes I write things a little to quickly. Some people, mostly the hardcore PETA people, tend to put animals lives and well being at the same level or even higher in priority then humans. This is, in my opinion, just plain nuts. I don't care how attached I am to that dog or cat it still doesn't come close to being more important or even just as important as a human. I don't think that it is OK to torture animals. I do think that many of these PETA people have an insane view as to what torture is. The cattle industry along with the other meat industries do their best to run things as efficiently as possible. They have no interest in wasting time torturing animals. Money is time. Just ask a plant manager how much money is lost for just one hour of down time.

You're just plain wrong. There is more to life than big sweeping change, radical overhauls and paradigm shifts. Life is subtle and long-lasting. Every single thing you and I do has an effect. I'm sorry you feel so insignificant but you're not. The power of a small act is overlooked only by those who choose not to see it. And the smallest acts of kindness are usually the ones with the greatest impact. I'm not trying to change you. I don't know you. Are YOU trying to change MY mind? If not, what are you all so upset about? I'll listen to any point anyone has to make except for "tastes great" and "I don't care". I am not upset I just think it is unusual for someone to think that by not eating meat that some how that will influence the rest of the people in the world to do the same. Its kind of like a religous person believing that they are right and everyone else is wrong and then trying to get everyone else to believe the same. It is an excercise in futility, never will there be a time when everyone will agree to to believe the same way. Just because you think its wrong to eat meat and you think that the meat industries are torturing the animals that are being slaughtered doesn't make it true. What do you consider torture? I have seen hogs being killed and butchered in mass quantitys. I would not say those hogs were tortured in any way. They electrocuted them. The hogs died quickly. That was only at one slaughter house, but I seriously doubt that it would be much different at others. They set things up to be as efficent as possible. They lose money if things don't get done quickly.

I couldn't care less whether or not the cow that my steak came from was mistreated or not. I think it is ridiculus for people to attribute human aspects to animals. They are animals. Some of those animals are food. If I am really starving then all of them qualify as food. Your not eating meat does nothing to stop me or anyone else from doing so and does nothing about farmers 'mistreating' cows. 'mistreatin' animals is subjective. Does killing a cow and eating it qualify?

Now that sounds like the best scenerio to me. Nothing like having a big well trained dog to let you know when some is around that isn't supposed to be there. A good dog can really do some damage and can hear and smell better then any human.

STEAK SAUCE we don't need no stinkin steack sauce if its a good steak it doesn't need steak sauce!

I once worked at Rochelle Foods Inc. in Rochelle, IL for a year. It is a hog slaughter house. They killed about 7,000 hogs a day. I had no trouble watching the hogs get killed and turned into hotdogs, ham and every thing else that most people eat. Its not that big of a deal. food is food. by the way I worked in the rendering dept. if any of you know what that is you know that I have a pretty strong stomach. Not a job I really want to do for the rest of my life.

I think you need a really good Texas Steak. Its damn good.

I am waiting for the lawyers to sue the sword manufacturors. It's gotta be their fault that people are using the swords. Right?

I did 12 CReW jumps at Skydive Dallas last year and if I had the money I would be putting together a dedicated CReW rig. It is a lot of fun and the best way to learn canopy control.

Who 'deserves' an ash release dive ?
beowulf replied to metalslug's topic in Skydiving History & Trivia
That is a really moving picture. -
Yeah I will definitely be polite. There is nothing for me to gain by pissing them off. I had the HR manager here write a letter explaining that I had been working full time here in Texas during the time that I was supposed to be working in CA. Hopefully they are in a good mood and are not going to want to dispute this. There isn't any way for me to lose this. I have plenty of people that have been working in my office with me since I have started here 3 years ago that could testify that I was really here in Texas and not in CA. I am guessing that the person using my SS# is probably an illegal mexican. This is just a real pain to deal with. No telling what is on my credit record now.

you wouldn't happen to have a number to call for that? I really don't want to screw up with Gov. never mind I found the Dallas number.

I need advice on what to do. I just received a letter from the IRS saying that I owe them $1400 for wages from a job that someone was using my social security number in CA to work illegally. The jobs that they show on this notice are jobs that I never had. During that time I only had one job. Any ideas? What would be the best thing to do first?

I am a Network Admin. So when I am not putting out fires and setting up new computers I check in on DZ.com every so often.
