Which is more dangerous: Rock Climbing or Skydiving?
beowulf replied to lewmonst's topic in The Bonfire
That can never be said of skydiving. A first time tandem passenger can and has died. -
I think that when you reduce each sport to its most minimal risk. Skydiving is definitely the most dangerous. You can do really easy low key rock climbing. You can also do really easy low key scuba diving. But you can't exactly do really low risk skydive. The minimal risk skydive is way more risky then the most minimal risk rockclimb or scuba dive.

Which is more dangerous: Rock Climbing or Skydiving?
beowulf replied to lewmonst's topic in The Bonfire
I don't think it really compares. If you are only toproping and not doing trad then rockclimbing is very safe. If you are doing some serious multi pitch trad climbing then I think that it could be more dangerous then your average skydive, but probably just as dangerous as swooping. -
Yeah thats one reason why it just doesn't compare. Driving on a dirt road in the middle of nowhere doing 20mph is hardly dangerous. But if you want danger you can drive 120mph on a 5 lane freeway in a big city. There is no "dirt road" scenario in skydiving.

"Skydivers once they realise skydiving is safer than driving" This is the biggest line of bullshit in skydiving. I think it is totally inaccurate, driving a car in no way compares to the risks taken while skydiving. There are plenty of arguments for and against it here in Dropzone.com.

What is the best way to wash the rig (container)!
beowulf replied to matereti's topic in Gear and Rigging
The best way is to pay someone else to do it. Preferably a rigger. -
I have no problem with that. They could torture rapists for months on end before killing them and I would not have a problem with that. There should be no mercy given to rapists and child molesters.

I think it would be worth the money if I actually needed the extra features that a pda phone offers. It is a great phone. It is just much more then I need.
-
I have a 650. It is a company phone. I probably would never buy one myself. I don't think they are worth the money for how much I use the extra features.

Jumping from a Plane in an Emergency
beowulf replied to Andre1's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I am in no way saying it is rational for me to feel better landing my parachute. Just the way I feel. I have landed with the plane a few times just never translated nervousness into fear or considering airplanes as death traps. I just figured they were control freeks like me. I would feel better being the pilot then being the passenger. Same as driving a car. I prefer being the driver then the passenger. But I am not an airplane pilot so I just relax and enjoy the ride. -
Jumping from a Plane in an Emergency

huh I was unaware that many skydivers consider airplanes as death traps. I personally feel better landing my parachute, but that is mostly because I prefer being in control. I think that even asking to be let out of a commercial plane with a parachute would probably get you tied up and gagged. Better off keeping your mouth shut and riding it out. The odds would be against your surviving jumping out of a commercial jet over heavily populated area at high speed. But it is a cool day dream. Can't say it didn't cross my mind. -
Yeah Billy Bob's is a trip. They call it the worlds biggest honky tonk and they aren't kidding. The place is huge. They have live bull riding inside.

Grapevine Mills Mall, not sure exactly what would be going on tonight around Dallas. I don't usually do much on Sun evenings. How long are you going to be in Dallas?

oh use the quotations to deal with the special characters. The quotations will allow you to copy files and directories with spaces. For some reason I looked at "_" and saw quotations only. It's been a long day. example xcopy /D /Z /Y "K:\Memorial_North_Hospital\Constructs\Plumbing_&_Piping\Med_Gas\00MG.dwg" "C:\Documents_and_Settings\ericj.HPE\Desktop\Memorial_North_Hospital\Constructs\Plumbing_&_Piping\Med_Gas\00MG.dwg"
-
it makes life easier if you avoid using too many special characters
-
sent you a pm
-
Like Streetscooby said you sure can put this in .bat file.
-
Use xcopy. With the appropriate settings it will do exactly what you want. Type in xcopy /? to get the help information. example xcopy /E /Z /Y c:\source\* d:\destination This will copy all files and directories including empty directories into the destination. Not exactly what you want but you can modify it to do what you need.
