I am not very artistic so coming up with new moves is a stretch for me. I much prefer VRW. I would like to see 2 way Freefly stay around, but with out enough competitors I don't see how it will.
-
The problem here is what you consider negative comments are really helpful comments. Doing 100 more belly jumps is helpful and will benefit the OP more then freefly tips.
-
Belly flying is part of the learning process. Even for freeflying. People who get in a hurry in skydiving tend to get hurt more often.

Did you ever lose interest in Sky Diving?
beowulf replied to jigneshsoni's topic in Safety and Training
I really think how long you stay in the sport depends on what you want out of it. Some people achieve what they want quickly while others get disappointed by not reaching their goals as quickly as they would like. There are many reasons why people quit. I only need one reason to stay and that is enough for me. -
I have always said it is my goal to be an old skydiver. If I make to 70 I hope I am still jumping.

Television evangelist Falwell dies at 73
beowulf replied to masterblaster72's topic in Speakers Corner
Either that or just plain nothing. There is no evidence to suggest there is life after death. -
I hate to guess how old some one is, but I am certain he is older then 55. I am 34, if that gives you any perspective.

An older gentleman walked in to the packing area Sunday dressed in what looked like a brand new Firefly freefly suit. The contrast of his age and the new jumpsuit just struck me as profound. I want to be that guy one day. An old skydiver still enjoying a good skydive. When he got down from his jump, I asked him how is jump went and he proceeded to tell me in detail how he was working on his sitfly. The enthusiasim showed in his voice and eyes. I could have thought he was 18 years old if I weren't looking at him. That even more impressed me. He is who I want to be when I am old and grey haired. I hope he never quits skydiving.

After an evening at a bar I can still smell the cigarette smoke in my clothes the next day. Not untill I wash those clothes does the cigarette smoke go away. Farts generally don't last that long. I think you are wrong in thinking there is no health risks in second hand smoke.
-
I don't give a fuck who they say it's for. I am just telling you why I would want a ban on smoking in public places. Flatulance does not compare to cigarette smoke.

When you didn't cutaway and should have...

damn .... that is some scary shit there!!! Talk about dumb luck. -
Companies pay to have their products used in movies. It's almost subliminal advertising. I think children would respond to it more the adults.
-
I am not concerned with their safety. What does concern me is my being able to enjoy a meal or a beer with out having to inhale cigarette smoke. I am concerned about my comfort. It makes me uncomfortable to be around cigarette smoke. I don't give a shit if you or anyone else smokes as long as it doesn't affect me directly. If you die of lung cancer from smoke it doesn't bother me at all. That is your choice to smoke. I shouldn't have to put up with your cigarette smoke.
-
I don't think it is improbable that movies would influence children to smoke.

I have to have goals in skydiving. For me Freeflying is where it is at. It is so diffucult to be good at. I want to be on at least one successful world record freefly formation and to compete in VRW 4 way. Those will keep me interested in skydiving for a long time. When that gets old I can always compete in regular 4 way or CRW or try belly big ways ..... etc. Just jumping out of a plane can be really boring if you don't have anything to do. I won't hardly jump by myself anymore.

ALL people who drink have driven above the legal limit at some point in their lives. They are a much greater proven danger to the public than smoking. There is no proven connection between second hand smoke and cancer or cardiovascular disease. As for asthma, I can understand the problems there. Cigarrette smoke makes me sick. When I get home after spending an evening in a bar or club my throat is sore and I feel sick from the smoke. I don't care if there is proven connection with cancer or anything else. But it does stand to reason if smoking causes cancer in smokers then could cause cancer in second hand smokers.
-
Yeah, I agree - Keep them lungs healthy, but FUCK the liver! Drinking is a nasy habit too, bud, as is picking your nose, and some would argue, skydiving. Right I am not trying to say that I don't have any bad habits. Cigarrette smoke affects everyone around the smoker. Those examples of bad habits don't necessarily affect everyone around the person.
-
I really don't care one way or the other on this topic. Smoking is a nasty habit. I can't hardly stand being around people who are smoking and avoid going to bars any more because of it. It seems the older I get the less tolerant of cigarrette smoke I am.

When you didn't cutaway and should have...
beowulf replied to Glitch's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
hmm I think I would have cut that away, but what do I know. I have never had a situation where I should have cut away and also have never cut away a canopy. I just past 1000 jumps with no cut aways and no injuries requiring anything more then iodine and bandages. It was more luck then anything else. I have had situtations where I shouldn't have even got in the plane. Maybe I am smarter now, at least I can look back remember how stupid and lucky I was. Not let's see how close to 2000 I can get with no problems. -

They're hanging out with the low pull contest winners. -
BULL SHIT Most of those ghetto people are too fuckin lazy to get off their ass and learn something so that can get real jobs. There are way too many people coming here from other countries for perfectly good jobs for there to be people on welfare wasting there lives smoking crack or whatever the preference is. Just because there too lazy to do the jobs that mexicans are sneaking across the border to do is not my problem.

The hidden [monetary] costs of skydiving.
beowulf replied to gontleman's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
hmmm well I can give you a very low estimate of what I have spent. 1000 X 20 = $20,000. That doesn't included AFF, Gear, Travel expenses, Beer etc... Just remember it can also cost you the rest of your life. I think it is worth it and I don't show any signs of slowing down. In fact I am making more jumps then ever now.
