Thanks for the help guys, ill try undoing my jumpsuit next time and practice my slow falling technique, I actually just found out about the sleeve you can get, they are pretty cheap so ill order a pair and try them out for a few jumps. Cheers, Mick

Over the last w/e i did 4 8-10 ways, im still a lowbie (100 jumps) and while ever since ive had my B ive been doin 4 ways and had no problems with fallrate hoever and every one of the jumps i did on the w/e I ended up falling WAY too fast. On all the jumps i was meant ot be first to dock on a 4 way base and even when trying slow falling str8 from exit I would fall right past it and cant get back up (except for 1 jump) my jumpsuit is fairly tight but like i said its perfect for 4 ways so apart from buy a baggier jumpsuit does anyone have any tips on staying level (or above) the formation. When slow falling my technique is to sick my bum out, point my feet outwards (i have boosters) and try not to look up at the formation.... Thanks, Mick

I set it in the plane on the previous jump and didnt have a problem with it then, i think ill do a few more jumps with it and if it happens again then ill give l&b a call. Thanx for the help guys. Mick

nah dont think so according to the manual the alarm should go off at 1000ft for 5 sec, not at 3000ft plus like i said before the low batt light didnt come on and the sound i heard was either the 1st or 2nd alarm (im assuming the low batt alarm the dyteer makes isnt the same as the 1st or 2nd alarms)
-
nah, its only a couple of months old plus the low batt light didnt come on...
-
hmmm...shit to be honest i cant remember, it was certainly not the 3rd warning though (the flatline alarm)

Last weekend my pro-dytter went off at 3'000 (I had it set to go off at 4000, 3000 and 1500) while climbing to altitude in a C-206. Should I worry about this or has this been known to happen with pro-dytters? (On the actual jump it seemed to work fine) Cheers, Mick

I have never jumped one but in my DZ (melb, oz) quite a few people have been buying them recdently and ive heard nothing but good things about them, apparently a really good (and cheap) no frills canopy (ie they dont have any x-bracing or stuff like that) with solid perfermance. But anyway thats what ive just heard from around the DZ so its no 'professional' opinion from a rigger or anything like that

Commando Skydivers, Victoria, Australia, 1 14 place nomad, 1 10 place islander and a 206. OH yeah and australias home to shitty weather (this year anyway :)
-
im at 1.15/1.0 at 99 jumps (would of been at least 100 if it wasnt for shitty weather last w/e :)
-
speak to the guys at commandos, I know Ian Dayble (hes one of the instructors) did one last year and we've got a few surplus roundies to jump.
-
Well melbourne is down the bottom part of australia so the weather isnt usually too crash hot in winter, however the last 2 w/e have been great so icant compalin i guess
-
yeah i should be getting my C licence signed off this w/e ass well so that'l be another slab...
-
Gday all does anyone have any ideas for a jump that i can do next w/e for my 100th? Id rather do something a bit different rather then just a rel jump or whatever, was thinking alond the lines of a nudie (but then again melbournes weather in early spring isnt the best time to do one) or a wagon wheel or something along those lines... Cheers Mick

join the club im up to the stage now where during the week im just daydreaming about skydiving at uni in lectures I know what you mean..sometimes i wish I was a whuffo again so i wouldnt be so depressed during the week..as they say 'ignorance is bliss'
-
Hey dont worry about freaking out, we have all been there (well most of us) as long as your safe in the air. When I was a student on jump run the only things I would think about is getting a good exit (which includes getting into a stable body position), maintain height awareness and have FUN (i know its easier said then done ) cause my theory was as long as I could achieve those goals every thing else that I needed to do on that jump would just fall into place..no pun intended
-
Hey congrats on your A license (thanks for the slab!), you're right u should certainly get a audible alti, u might want to consider getting it towards the end of your B-rels though, so you get better at maintaining height aweness and dont end up relying too much on it, thats what I was told anyway when I went to buy mine. Unless youve got the cash You probably dont need a pro track, sure keeping details on your skydives is pretty cool but it it is probably a bit of a gimmick at your stage right now. Anyway that was just my 2 cents... cya on the w/e

You'll notice that its from Sydney...they r a bunch of freaks up there anyway so that explains it

I'm a whuffo trapped in a skydiver's body. After 300 odd jumps I'm still scared, and I don't have a clue why I do it, but I become very depressed if I go without jumping for more than three weeks. I guess it has something to do with the hipothalamus. You get depressed if you dont jump in 3 weeks? Damn its more like 3 hours for me :)
