  1. V = I x R, thats all u need to know
  2. Ive gotta admit when im doing team 4 way jumps I raely used my wrist alti, just relied on my Pro-Dytter whihc I know is wrong. But im getting to the stage when I can sense the amount of time ive been in the air so I can tell when we get to 4000 (roughly). And like you said theres 3 other guys in the air with me, so if I see them track off im outa there
  3. I would say to go with AFF to if you can afford it, I originally did about 20 jumps on SL took a 2 year break then came back to do AFF. When I was doing SL I had to force myself to get down to the DZ, I came up with any excuse not to go but since I did AFF I couldnt get enough of it,...but again thats just me
  4. If you aer really tight on cach, you dont necessarily have to do a tandem if you know this is what u really want to do. For some reason I always knew I wanted to skydive so I never bothered witha tandem, just got straight into it and never looked back...but then again thats just me

  6. Is it possible to update the poll on the home page a bit more often (asumming u have enough time to do it HH
  7. 0 in 250 jumps...Had tweo where I shoulda probably chopped..one on student gear...had line twists down to my risers...couldnt even look up and see the bloody canopy! still managed to kick out of them. 2nd was first hop n pop on my new rig, kill line had shrunk over time and a non terminal deployment wasnt enough for it to open...lets just say it took its sweet time, good thing i was at 6000 for that jump
  8. That was a great read Bill! thanx for the post
  9. Oh yeah forgot the website: http://www.rmwjumpsuits.com
  10. I ant talk about freefly suit but I bought a FS "fast" suit off them almost a year ago...I was very impressed with the quality of it nothing has ripped or is comming apart (despite a few dodgy landings a while ago ). Has extra padding on the knees which has held up well. The only problem is some stiching has come undone on the bottom of the boosters but I supose thats normal since its such a high wear area.... Ill be buying another suit off these guys (FS slow suit) as soon as I get the chance
  11. if you're paying $80 a repack you are getting ripped off...$50 is generally the max you shoould pay for a repack (AU). PM me the name of the rigger who repacked it for you...
  12. Hey Dave what would you say are your fav clips from skydivingmovies.com? (gotta do a bit of d/l again once it comes back up )
  13. I had the same thing happen to me a couple of months ago, my Sabre 150 slammed open and im almost certain is was due to packing...my back still hurts sometimes...really should see someone about that
  14. I had the same problem with my first set of gear.. the toggle would sit really flat against the riser which made it a bitch to get my hands thru so after each jump I would put a fold in the botom of the toggle so it would stick out and eventually the toggles became set in this shape (hope that made sense
  15. Nice work dave..cheers!
  16. BOC isnt necessarily safer..especially for a student. BOC has less chance of being caught in the 'dead' air but for this to happen it must be aggresively thrown into the air. Who knows what a student (especially a first time jumper) might do with a BOC? Firstly because it is on the bottom of the container they might have trouble finding it, the student may freak out and only pull the PC out without letting go or not throw it out properly and have it wrap around their hand or arm. With a ripcord all a student has to do is pull that rip cord and doesnt have to worry about anything else apart from that. So while a BOC may be a better system thats only if its done correctly. Id rather see a student fuck up when deploying with a ripcord rather then BOC cause a lot less can go wrong. (hope that made sense. i need mre sleep )
  17. Pakenham is South east of Melbourne about 50 min..it will be at Tooradin in 2 months or so but thats pretty much in the same direction. Nagmabie is Central Vic (about 1 and a half hours from the city) and Barwon is about 1 hr from the city past Geelong (on the west side of Vic). Theres also Taralgon skydivers, but thats just a tiny one cessna DZ about 2 hours sth east of Melbounre.
  18. Hey, there's pretty much 3 main DZs in Vic. Commandos in Pakenham (soon to be tooradin) is a club DZ which is running a cesna and GA8 (think of a 8 seater cessna...in other words..very slow ) and a nomad that doesnt see the light of day much. I like it there but I find people who didnt start jumping there dont like it. Nagambie is a nice DZ (good place for big way flat fly) with a caravan but a bitch to drive to. Lastly theres Barwon with a 10 place cresco...awesome plane, great atmosphere too and a good mix of flat and freefly. Hope that helps cheers
  19. Think about always presenting the front of your body to the relative wind (ie prop blast) on exit and if its a dive out exit kick your legs up ya arse.. easy
  20. I cant remember what triggered em to want to go skydiving, I remember I always wanted to do it when I was about 16 but my parents talked me out of it (they must fo thought it was a phase I was going through and would forget about it ) and for a while I forgot about it, but one day 2 years later I was at home bored shitless and thought..."might go for a jump" and booked in for SL that w/e. I did S/L for the next nine months...every time Id dive down to the DZ id be wishing it wouldm start raining for the wind will pick up so I wouldnt have to jump..Id be abosoutely scared shitless! I ended up giving up after a few scary jumps and did 2 tandems over the next 2 years. In Janurary I came back and did AFF and been going hard ever since

  22. Hey, just out of curiosity what does it means by using direct control on the slider? Cheers
  23. Ive got a Woomera (1998). Its a good rig for the price you pay but it doesnt look as flash as a Mirage or Jav. Mine has velcro riser covers, no bridle cover but good solid main and reserve pin flaps. It doesnt have any hip or chest rings either so it probably wont be as comfy as a more expensive rig. Ive had it for a year now and havent had any big problems with it so far...

  25. Yeah it is possible to have a 2-3 seconds delay then have the canopy deploy normally...On my first canopy I bought I did a hop n Pop but didnt realise that the kill line attached to the PC had shrunk over time...still ok for terminal deployments though. Anyway on that jump nothing happened for about 5 seconds (the PC was partially collapsed) before I felt the canopy begin to open (in hindsight technically I should of cutaway and gone for the reserve...I waited way too long )
