Newbie with a question, should you always cutaway?
skymick replied to andybr6's topic in Safety and Training
See what the BPA recommend in regards whether to always cut away or not. I know in Australia the APF recommend that you always cut away first (time permitting). Also think about this: what if you have a hard pull (or dont grab the handle properly) and end up with your PC almost all the way out of the pouch when you go for silver? You wouldnt want it falling out on deployment and having it pull your Dbag out.... Cheers -
Is it just me or does it seem wrong that so many newbies have their own packers? While packers can be a good idea for more experienced people I think novices should be packing themselves (at least some of the time) as this will help them understand the deployment process and this way they can experiment with different techniques when packing in order to correct any problems they are having rather then just getting their packer to fix it for them.

Well what if you change those 10 Iraqi kids into 10 American kids? Would you still take him out?

Have You Ever Gone Low INTENTIONALLY?
skymick replied to murrays's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Never gone low intentionally, but i have heard the 1500' alarm on my Dytter go off about 3-4 times (under canopy or during deployment, not in freefall) All of them were pretty much on larger jumps with unfamiliar jumpers that funelled, I would rather go a bit low if I cant see everyone rather then risk a collision. -
I was wondering how long it would take you to mention you new rig on DZ.com michael Have you slept with it yet? (everyone sleeps with their first rig dont they???_

Dont use the door of the plane as a guide as the plane may be climbing or banking. Make sure you stick your head right out and look at the horizon then rotate your head 90 degrees towards the ground.

I have a Sabre 150 and never have rolled the nose. I find rolling the tail about 10 times or so give me the best openings..they are brisk but not hard. Anymore then 10 times I can get it to snivel a bit but it seems to give more off heading openings

Well I figure if L&B are willing to replace lost Dytters why not ask? I could of easily tried to scam them by saying I lost a Pro-Track instead . Anyway I was under no illusion that I should receive anything from them. If he said piss off its your own bloody fault then that would of been perfectly fine as well. As a matter of interest ive heard that Dytters only cost $20-$30 to manufacture (not including R&D of course)
-
Well none actually, I did offer to scan my receipt and email it to them but they didnt seem to worry about that. They do have to put a lot of trust in people, it wouldnt suprise me if they have been ripped off a few times because of this.

I know this has been posted before but just wanted to say how great L&B is. I lost my pro-Dytter on sunday after an 18 way...must of been riser slap even though i didnt notice anything was wrong until i got down. Anyway I emailed Mads at L&B about it about 6 hours ago and Ive already got a response from him saying he'll be sending a new one over free of charge!
-
I had a pro-dytter mounted on the outside of a gath until sunday when after a jump i lost it on opening ...didnt even realise it until i went up for the next jump! The risers must of just brushed the mounting clip yet it was enough to break it off...make sure you AT LEAST use cable ties around the audible. Oh well might try sending L&B an email soon

RMW is based at Nagambie DZ in Victoria, Australia.

Actually this w/e ajumper at my DZ lost his D-bag/PC because the loop which goes around the connector ring on the canopy snapped! Luckily someone saw it float down. The jumper didnt even know he had lost it until we realised that it wasnt a freebag that was floating down (as everyone orginally thought)

Hey I noticed you jump at Tully...do you know a guy called Finch up there?
-
I hope someone told you about the one slab per jump rule!...Shouldmt ever have to buy more then a slab for the one jump (I almost found that out the hard way )

I find it funny that a few people are saying that they wouldnt go over a month past the 3month (or is it 4 in the US?) reserve repack cycle when in australia the reserve repack is every 6 months and we dont seem to be having any problems with it

Ive got one, its very nice. I had only gotten off student gear when i bought one (so in other words i had a lot of dork-ins :) and the extra padding in the knees saved a few scars hehe. The grippers on it are very good to, very thick, not those skinny ones you see on cheap, old jumpsuits. Also a velcro pocket on the inside helps as well
