After I got my A license stamp I went over to the gear store and bought mine. It's almost always on... even under my stacks of pearl necklaces.. it kinda peaks out...

You don't have a case. The penny adjusts deployment altitude. The on/off is the one on the side. The one that says jump or off. "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." Lucky McSwervy "~ya don't GET old by being weak & stupid!" - Airtwardo

Well, I nominate the junior smutsketeer, jumpingjunkie81. She's started a lot of naughty threads, played in Name That Rack, and contributed quite positively to the fuckery around here.

Ok, I don't understand it there either. Both of the example studies use a very low "N" which raises serious questions on the possibility of selection bias. Meaning that jf I only need to have 80 people in my study, I can pick any 80 people that will support my theory - which doesn't necessarily PROVE my hypothosis. Ok, thanks. I can also see both as a "reverse conclusion" - people with low self esteem are more likely to have guns and tatoos, but guns or tatoos don't necessarily mean low self-esteem. I'm not a diver, but I know there is a lot of technical stuff (depth times, decompression tables, ect) that need to be used on a regular basis. Mistakes are dangerous. The only real number skydivers care about is pull altitude. (or the amount of beer in the fridge). Most of it is learned skills, not technical knowledge. You can't learn body flight or canopy control out of a book. You have to do it. And I hope you don't think skydiving is not going to cost most of your disposable income "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." Ok, I don't understand it there either. Guns mean power. (paraphrasing Chairman Mao) Poeple who have no power can get it with a gun. That power may be desired by a small woman who might have to face a large male assailant, a homeowner who may face a gang of home invaders, or a cop who may have to face a number of suspects. Quade - are you seriously suggesting AggieDave suffers from low self-esteem (and yes I got that it was a joke) "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." Ask that question in England or Australia. First it was the "scary" guns, then it was the less scary, then it was all the guns. Interesting. If that is the case in England and Australia, I would say it is very relevant and might go a very long way to changing the way I view the situation. How about THIS or THIS? The fact that "slippery slope" is a logical fallacy in most cases doesn't mean it isn't true with regard to gun control. And Mayor Ray Nagin had the cops confiscate ALL the guns in the wake of hurricane Katrina. Even though courts have ruled it was illegal, most people haven't gotten them back. And many that have found that the guns are a single chunk of rust due to poor storage "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." Do you happen to know what the deal is with assault rifles (or standard capacity mags) that are still in the state, and were legally purchased by California residents prior to the current law? I'm pretty sure that someone in my family in California (and probably someone who knows zero about guns) is still in possession of some firearms my grandfather owned before his death, which probably qualify. Are they breaching current California law just by ignorance? If they didn't register it during the now closed "Grace Period" then yes. NRA-ILA It's about halfway down the page under "Assault Weapons". If I understand it correctly, the only thing they can legally do is turn it over to the cops. Or they can try to smuggle it out of state to sell, give away or store it. But don't get caught. "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." I'm not aware of the law, but suspect compliance on that front would save a person far more than they'd gain from non-compliance (as seen in this case). That being said, if one were to establish a case of search without reasonable cause, should they lock the doors, exit the vehicle, and if asked, maintain that they do not give the LEOs permission to search their vehicle? .jim That would clearly establish non-consent. Probable cause would be determined later by the court (when your lawyer tries to get the search suppressed or during the lawsuit for violating your civil rights). If they place you under arrest, they can search incident to arrest (if the arrest took place because of something that happened while you were in the car) If the dog "signals", that establishes probable cause. There are other things that establish P/C but search law was a long time ago and I can't remember any of them. If they want to be jerks, they will put you up against the car, pull the keys out of your pocket. If you have keyless and locked the keys in the car, they usually know how to pop the locks. Cops are pretty good at B+E. "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." Lucky McSwervy "~ya don't GET old by being weak & stupid!" - Airtwardo

Truth or Dare, Skymamma's son acting like Bolas and Gonzo, Nataly hurt herself, and a larger than normal quota of fuckery. I've been laughing almost constantly since breakfast. There's a thread about it in General Skydiving. Beat me to it by about 2 minutes. I'm an organ donor and my family know about it. And they also know that if they are ever contaced by any recipients of any of my organs, I want them to offer a tandem. Even if I can't jump again, maybe part of me could. Well, the Attorney General of Wisconsin issued an opinion that municipalities shouldn't arrest people for open carry (usually cited for disorderly conduct). http://www.wisn.com/politics/19235901/detail.html "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." Yeah, a lot of good sheltering them from the dz did me, huh? You have said in the past that he doesn't jump, but that's a clear indicator of skydiver genes. Are you too old to have fun, take risks, push boundaries - all in the company of friends you trust to take you a little farther than you would go yourself, but not too far?? If not, then what are you doing skydiving? Besides, Truth or Dare is probably safer than the drunk "Hokey-Pokey"(the song and dance-get your minds out of the gutter) Let me get this straight - the "Official Naughty Thread Idea Giver #2" needs ideas for suggestive questions How about any or all of the polls that iluvtofly has started recently? Keep in mind, the rules say you can refuse any question or dare, but if you do you have to leave the game. "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." If they want to search your vehicle, they are going to search your vehicle. In that position, I would make it clear that any search would be executed without my permission, but the place to fight the officers' actions is in court, not on the side of the road. There is no need to make a stop more stressful to officers than it need be (nor is doing so in anyone's best interest). One can be polite and reasonably cooperative with officers while still exercising rights guaranteed by the Constitution. The framers established a judicial branch separate from the executive branch for a reason. Yep. Arguing and screaming will not win you points with the cops. It usually gets you cuffed and stuffed. I got to watch that last week. The cops showed up with an arrest warrant for a neighbor, and when his brother refused to let them in, refused to show an ID, and got loud and obnoxious - well, he got the tacky bracelets and a "time out" in the back seat of the car. He was released (after I told the cops he wasn't the one they were looking for), but he didn't change the outcome one bit. And everyone has to realize the "expectation of privacy" for a motor vehicle is a lot lower than that for a residence. The cops are required to do a lot less work to look through your car. Since people are being open, I'll go. I hadn't yet because I didn't like the anonymous part. ANY of the Three Smutsketeers: Lucky, Dsquared or Iluvtofly. Or the Junior Smutsketeer: jumpingjunkie81 They all have an attitude I really enjoy.

Cessna 401/402 as jump plane
wolfriverjoe replied to Kmiecek's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Okay, thanks. That makes sense - the autogas STC doesn't involve any modificaion, but I remember how much work went into getting the first ones. I just saw on the list that some models were approved for flight with the door removed, and others listed a STC. "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." Cessna 401/402 as jump plane
wolfriverjoe replied to Kmiecek's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I don't see the 401 on the list. And the 402 has an STC. I may be wrong, but doesn't the STC mean that extra stuff is added (like an exterior step) or certified equipment has to be removed (more than the door)? And if the 401 isn't on the list, it can't be legally flown with the door removed. The same airframe doesn't mean the same plane. They have different certifications, they are different planes. Yes the FAA is that picky. I know an arial photographer who got yelled at by the FAA for removing the little bar on the door window. He wanted to be able to swing it all the way open, but when the FAA dude saw him unscrewing it, he informed the pilot that it was an unapproved modification. Really.
