Bushmaster are ok. Original colt are ok. The old Adventure Line are pretty good. None are real expensive. The most important thing I have found is to not put 30 rounds in a 30rnd mag. If you only put in 28, even the cheap ones will last quite a while. If you fill them to 30, the lips start to bend fairly fast. "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." It depends on what you consider "milita arms" and what you consider a milita. The SC upheld the 1934NFA (highly regulating machine guns, silencers and "short-barreled" rifles and shotguns) because they weren't weapons the military would use, therefore not protected by the 2nd. Known as the Miller decision. Of course, since then most armies have adopted all of those. And as stated above, police and military are often allowed to possess switchblades. Oddly enough, switchblades are not illegal in South Dakota. No joke, they have them for sale in the truckstops alongside the other knives. Butterfly knives OTOH are illegal in Wisconsin. And in Tennessee, any knife with a blade over 4" (I think) can be considered a "concealed weapon" if not carried openly. A carry permit would make having it in your pocket legal. Go figure. Edit to add: Also because there is no "NKA" (National Knife Associaton). "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." Steveorino - It needed to be a picture of a flying squirrel. A friend sent me the vid of the guys doing the Wingsuit BASE in Norway (the one where the guy flies real close to the road) and she called them "squirrel suits" DSE - I'm glad to hear you're on the road to recovery. THANK YOU! I looked at his profile (a while ago) and was absolutely amazed at his accomplishments. USPA yanking his ratings effectively ended his career. The FAA isn't going to approve any jumps after that. But the cryptic comments and riddles are getting old. USPA probably won't release any details for privacy reasons. For me it's a lot like reading Lewis Carroll (but not quite as well written) For those who don't know, Alice in Wonderland, Through the Looking Glass and several other works of his were very biting political satire aimed at the British government. When I read through some of it, I was very tempted to do a little research on Brit politics of the time to understand what and who he was talking about. Cool for you. I remember your posts about your dad. A while (12yrs)ago I got sick and tired of my mill job and decided to go back to school. Before taking the placement tests, I got a Trig textbook from the library (highest math I did in H.S.) After about 8hrs of study over a week or so, most of it came back. I ended up getting placed in Pre-calculus. College chem and Physics was a lot more fun than H.S. But the math was a bit more challenging. Reserve malfunctions – how common are they?
wolfriverjoe replied to OlympiaStoica's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
You shouldn't have to pay for an extra one. I would hope he's willing to let you watch when he packs someone else's. I would be. The closing sequence varies some, but they are all similar enough for what you want. "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." Knowledge is power. I'm a very junior Senior Rigger. I took the class at Para-Concepts last month. The rating was nice, but secondary to the amount of knowledge I got. (Thanks Guys -
Golden Knights Plan Presidential Birthday Jump
wolfriverjoe replied to 3331's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
No. I watched most of it too. I saw one wind dummy land, then her tandem, then the three camera fliers that vid'd Bush, then Bush's tandem. I didn't see any camera fliers land before her tandem. The only vid I saw of her (other than the landing) was in the plane sucking O2 and talking with Bush. I thought the video of Bush's jump wasn't all that great. The only footage I saw started at the drouge toss. NO door or exit footage. That's the best part! The freefall footage was excellent, though. Not to rip on the Golden Knights. It may have been CNN's editing. "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." Lucky McSwervy "~ya don't GET old by being weak & stupid!" - Airtwardo -
Well, yes it is that simple. The problem is that you are going to have to discount it heavily to sell it because of the unusual size and colors. The only real use is as student gear (BIG student gear). I'd think there are DZs that would purchase it if it was well below retail cost. A much higher deposit (50-75% perhaps?) would be perfectly reasonable in this situation, IMO. Explain to the customer that you aren't willing to accept that kind of exposure if he backs out. Maybe part of it on order, the remainder before start of construction. That would prevent "I'm not putting that much down with that long of a wait". Note: I'm not a dealer, nor do I know much about ordering custom gear. I'm just stating what I see as reasonable behavior on the part of the dealer. And I don't see a whole lot you can do now, these are just suggestions for the future. "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." Had to write a "Day in the Life" essay for English class
wolfriverjoe replied to NickEMT702's topic in The Bonfire
Nicely written. I don't see any grammatical, spelling, punctuation or other technical errors (I'm not a teacher though). Good flow, not a lot of fluff or too many adverbs. The ending is a little ambiguous. Are you going again? Last thing: Change the Title. BSBD is way too cliched, especially for a routine tandem. suggestions: I did What? An experience like no other A whole new look at life Focus more on the positive. Yes there is risk, but it should be mostly about the rewards not the "facing death" part. I've seen his posts. Why did he get kicked out? And what the fuck is eDo onward? Taurochomy isn't the answer I'm looking for. You have to go back to the first Thread in this whole soap opera. If you jump to Post #54 you can see he was investigated by the FBI for apparent threats against the FAA. Post #54 includes his (claimed) signed statement to the FBI. The whole mess got less and less coherent from there. Although the Alice's Restaurant references were kinda cool. "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." Reserve malfunctions – how common are they?

Bingo. I had my first brake fire a while back. Big canopy, lightly loaded, pulled at 3k. I dealt with it ok. 1 week later, another jumper had a brake fire. Smaller canopy, much higer loading, lower altitude. She chopped it. Nice safe reserve ride, found everything. The 2 incidents were discussed. The conclusion was that we both did the right thing. I've only been on about 9 months, but I've noticed that there's an ebb and flow. Some days I laugh my ass off, others not so much. But all you really have to do is look. I'm surprised none of you ladies picked up on This. And OlympiaStoica: You have the nerve to fling yourself from an airplane almost 2 miles above the ground, and you let this bunch of wingnuts intimidate you? 0,1,?? Only got 1 jump. 2 way from 10k. I spent the rest of the weekend at the controls of the plane. Both of the other regular pilots were unavailable, Fortunately, one of our old members came back to do a couple jumps, and he's a pilot too. Do I owe beer for flying my first tandem load? And for being at max gross for the first time? I was about 5 sec from chopping the throttle and jumping on the brakes when it finally popped off the runway "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." Quote I know what a power tool is. Quote Yes, I figured you would, but maybe not everyone else. I wanted to prevent: What's a packboy?- A powertool What's a powertool? - A pullup cord with a handle A pullup cord with a handle? How's that work? - And on and on and on.... Or if it has really unusual colors and you might only get $1000 for it, then the deposit should be $900. Thanks Billvon , that's exactly how I meant it.

Also known as a "powertool". Short stainless steel bar with a couple grooves in it. A line with 2 small loops in it hooks over it. Gives you more of a grip to close a contianer. The first time I heard the term, I thought the exact same thing Something like a cabana boy. 'Hey, packboy!! My rig is waiting!" "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." Yes. Kinda like businesses that put bad checks up right by the cash register for all to see, huh? I doubt that kind of forum would happen here, although it would be nice. Feedback on classified buyer/sellers would be nice too, but I understand the level of work for that sort of thing (double checking with both parties to ascertain the facts of a bad deal) makes it pretty impossible on a free site like this. I guess the only real way to cover yourself would be to get a deposit that would cover your losses in case the buyer backs out. Odd sizes/colors would require a higher deposit because of the lesser chance of selling later. And of there was a legit reason he couldn't buy after ordering- lost job or something, he could have at least been upfront about it. Cheap excuses and false promises are just insulting. FWIW, most parts for my Porsche have to be special ordered. Most auto parts stores require full payment before ordering. Non-refundable. Hypothetical rescue in the air

Probably not. A terminal opening with double the weight has a strong chance of blowing up your main. "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." Lucky McSwervy "~ya don't GET old by being weak & stupid!" - Airtwardo -
Yeah, the SEALS may go look for bad guys and/or blow shit up, but the para-rescue guys go anywhere anytime to get downed pilots back. Seriously badass. "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." Lucky McSwervy "~ya don't GET old by being weak & stupid!" - Airtwardo
