Discussed over and over. Last Time it was brought up Search "Bandit Jumps" for more. Short answer: Yes. File the NOTAM and permission from the landowner. Read AC105 for more. Ya know... I have way too much stuff in my wallet. So when I am in a situation where it would get in the way I take it out of my pocket and put it in a safe place. I know a few folks that have adopted, or given up for adoption. Take it slow. If the woman has no other kids, this will be overwhelming. Even if she has other kids, this will be overwhelming. Let her set the pace and level. Let her know you are grateful and are willing to show and tell how wonderful her daughter is and how much she has meant to you, but let her decide how much and how fast. Trying to shove 30 years of her baby's life into a day, week or even a month would be too much. So take it slow. "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." The investigation wasn't "botched". It just didn't happen. Because once they found out that the most likely suspect was the son of a judge, they stopped looking. The stories of the level of corruption/protection in Aruba that came out after the Holloway girl disappeared were widespread, consistent and very, very disturbing. We bitch pretty hard about how unfair the courts can be here in the US, but we are head and shoulders above a lot of the rest of the world. And off to SC we go. I see cars (and semi trucks) with Canadian plates all the time in the US. Mexican less often, but occasionally. I've seen Panama, Belize and (I think) Brazilian once each. I think a valid license, current registration in his home country and insurance valid in the US is all he needs. "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." Right. But they don't have to. You have the right. You have to assert that right. You have to specifically say "I don't want to answer any more questions". By signing and initialing all the spaces on the form they have, you are clearly stating that you understand your rights. They usually ask a question along the lines of "With these rights in mind, do you wish to answer any questions?" If you don't say "NO", then they can ask you the questions. Not answering the question isn't the same as saying "NO". "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." Lucky McSwervy "~ya don't GET old by being weak & stupid!" - Airtwardo

Point Break? How about this one?: "It's not my goddamn planet. Understand, monkey boy?" Buckaroo Banzai, Across the 8th Dimension. He probably thought "Hexagon" means curing a magical curse. laugh] That is a very good way to remove a curse . . . polygonically speaking of course. Polygonically? You support plural marriage? Absolutely not . . . Marriage to ONE woman is quite enough . . . My head would explode if I married two at the same time. Would that make you a "Headagon"? Ok. I don't vouch for the perfect accuracy of my quotes. I may have a word or two wrong. But that thwarts the "Googlers" "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." Lucky McSwervy "~ya don't GET old by being weak & stupid!" - Airtwardo

Dirty Laundry aired in z-hills

Ok, I knew about category (Private privilges in Glider, commercial in Airplanes), but I didn't realize that translated to class too. I went the standard route, Private (Single), then instrument, then commercial, then CFI, then multi (which included instrument and commercial standards). Very few people learn to fly multi without first learning in a single. I guess I thought that a commercial multi automatically included commercial single privilges. I've never seen someone have a commercial multi without commercial single privilges. Thanks for the explanation. "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." Ya man...Just having fun, unfortunately. That Tigers "Perfect Game" last night musta got the best of me, I guess. Good to hear. The Metallica lyrics are cool (amazing how relevant they can be), but I was a bit worried you were going "Slyde" on us. "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." However, the fact that he's actually a dirtbag is irrelevant. Really. While it's more satisfying (and it is), from a legal standpoint the guilty are entitled to just as much justice as the innocent. BTW -- I'm not trying to pick on you. Wendy P. White-collar criminals, for example, tend to bathe quite regularly. It's how they, you know, keep their collars white. Andy 9. But they are still dirtbags. They just keep the outside of the bag the dirt is in cleaner. "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." OK, let's cut to the chase. Let's assume he's not, and that he's chosen to retain his UK citizenship while, for the past 30 years as a legal resident of the US, being a productive member of the US society and economy, spending a generation educating budding engineers in the US, paying taxes into the US treasury, raising a family in the US, paying his children's college tuition in the US, and worrying as a father while his son, a member of the US Army Airborne, was deployed to Iraq. So, everybody's posturing aside, would you kindly now answer the previously-asked question about what relevance John's citizenship has to this thread, or to his posts on the issue? Perhaps as an alien living here, he would have a different set of ideas than a person who has gone through the process to legally become a citizen. An "outsider" willing to stay that way (out of loyalty to his own country or an unwillingness to go through all the bureaucratic hassle) would be coming from a different viewpoint than someone who wants to be a completely integrated part of this country. I don't see one as better than the other, nor does his citizenship or lack of affect the validity of his views, but it would be nice to know where his views are originating from if he is willing to share that. --> corrected spelling Point Break Nah. Bill Paxton as Fred Haise in Apollo 13, but according to the Jim & Marilyn Lovell DVD commentary track, the real Haise said no such thing. mh . I don't know about Apollo 13 (I don't remember it, but it may well be there) but it was definitely in Point Break. The stakeout scene where Gary Busey misses the gang going into the bank that then turns into the long ass foot chase. "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." I do recall his post when he finally got his twin engine comm rating, and was flying loads in the Otter. I would have to imagine that he had more than enough time in a single engine Cessna to qualify for a single engine comm rating by the time he had earned a twin engine pilot, and twin engine comm rating, and amassed enough twin time to check out in an otter, and make an insurance company happy enough to allow him to fly jumpers for money. This is confusing me. The Airman Certificate is the Private or Commercial. The Class Rating is single or multi engine (land in this case, sea is also available in single or multi) There's also category, but that's airplane, rotorcraft, glider, balloon and airship so it doesn't apply in this case. I don't see anywhere in FAR 61 that someone can have a commercial and private certificate at the same time. Nor do I understand how someone could have a more restrictive certificate (private) in a lesser class (single) than the commercial in the multi. This would be the rough equivalent of being a senior rigger for back type parachutes and a master rigger for chest. It doesn't make sense to me. If someone could point out where this is possible I would be very grateful. "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." Nothing. Really. I got a container that fits me almost perfectly (a little wide in the yoke, but not bad), a canopy loaded at 1:1, an appropriately sized reserve and a cypress1 with a good amount of life left. All for a fair price (not a steal of a deal, but not overpriced either) from a guy at my DZ who was getting out of the sport. I may be getting a different canopy this year, and I'll probably get a different container to go with it. If I got a "new" reserve, I can leave my current rig intact and sell it to a new up-and-coming jumper who it is appropriate for. I'd do so for a fair (not a steal, but not overpriced) price too.

Well, Para-Concepts has the "loft" located in the basement of Skydive Chicago. Betsy mentioned getting T-Shirts made that say "Rigging Underground" on them. "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." Lucky McSwervy "~ya don't GET old by being weak & stupid!" - Airtwardo

Read the sticky in the Photog and Video about being a camera flyer. It takes a hell of an investment in both time and money before you start earning income, let alone see a "return on investment". It sounds like you are separating from the military or something similar. It sounds like you have a chunk of money saved up and want to invest it in a skydiving career.(If I have the wrong impression. please correct me). You will go through that money in an insanely short time, and won't be able to earn enough to do much more than live in a tent and eat a lot of Ramen Noodles. One possible route is to become a rigger. The course isn't anywhere nearly as expensive as becoming a qualified professional skydiver, and there's always people who need packjobs (main and reserve). There's jobs out there, although not a whole lot, nor terribly lucrative ones. Some of it is seasonal. Realistically, finding a "job" in the industry that pays for your skydiving is doing better than most. My rigging and flying pays for my jumps at my home DZ, so my jumping there is essentially "free". I have a "real" job to pay the bills But it cost a good bit of money to get those "free" jumps, and I have to work hard for them. But I'm very happy with how it has worked out overall.

Have you talked about this? Does she know how you feel? Does she care? This last one is a very serious question, and probably the most important. If you need more space than she is willing to give then it isn't going to work. If you have said that you are going to spend more time at the DZ specifically because you need some "you" time and she says "great, I'll be there with you" then there's a big problem, because she isn't willing to respect your needs. Good luck. "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." Lucky McSwervy "~ya don't GET old by being weak & stupid!" - Airtwardo

A lot. http://www.finaid.org/calculators/costprojector.phtml. Those are a couple years old, and are averages. They also don't include any post-grad stuf. Perigrinerose is an eye-doc, IIRC, that will include a lot of extra time in school and money spent. "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." We've done it to North Korea in the past, although we stopped doing it by force http://www.nytimes.com/2009/06/17/world/asia/17korea.html According to this story, the US is/was going to ask permission to board and search suspect ships. And had boarded and searched in the past. Did/do we have that right? "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." Most people buy their own rig when the stuff available to them doesn't meet their need (or wants) anymore. If you have adequate gear available for free, there's no need. As you progress, you may want to get gear that is more advanced than available to you now. For me, at a DZ where the only student gear was 288 Mantas, it was shortly before getting my A. Check with your instructors about the use of full face helmets and audibles by students. Some places want students in open face helmets for communication purposes, or field of view issues. Some places don't allow students to use audibles because they want them to develop good altitude awareness without one. "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit."
