  1. Chris - you are a very good salesman. You just can't produce what you promise. My friend placed his order over 8 months ago. He gave you a significant amount of money at that time. He got nothing but empty promises and unanswered e-mails. Until your associate started this "Ad Thread" (which is against the rules, see the sticky at the top). I'm glad you are finally going to produce what was ordered. But I'm not "posting negative in this forum on his behalf." I'm posting on the behalf of anyone else out there who is foolish enough to fall for your promises and promotion. And you didn't answer "all of the above." There were 2 others who are still waiting. (posts 6 & 13). I wonder how many others that don't post on here are waiting too. And there's still the question of the pic on your facebook page. Is it plagiarized? Or is it simply a stock image that you are both using. As I said a few posts back - Weaverd started this thread Feb 21. It took you a month to ask me who I was talking about. It took another week for Weavered to respond to the thread that he started. And it's been over 2 weeks since then. Your (collective) replies to the criticisms in this thread are a far more telling example of your customer service than any glib promises that you have made. 2. There's a big (and I mean really big) difference between talking straight or being honest and expressing bigotry and ignorance. To state that gays can only get children through adoption or "unnatural methods" is both. "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." Lucky McSwervy "~ya don't GET old by being weak & stupid!" - Airtwardo
  3. Sangi said almost the exact same thing. He was getting aggressive under canopy, doing everything the "Old Guys" told him not to. But he was 'different.' He was part of the "New Generation," who 'learned faster' and didn't need to be held back by those "Old Guy" rules. He learned that he was wrong. Unfortunately the price he paid for the lesson was pretty damned high. "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." 4. Hi skymama, oh I'm not a skydiver. I'm so afraid of heights. hahaha :D So what? A lot of skydivers don't like heights. But once you are up that high, it's no longer "height", it's "altitude." And besides, you are so scared about jumping out of the plane, that the height is a minor concern So why then are you here, if you don't jump? 5. How about "frame of reference"? The only one that matters is the canopy (or airplane) relative to the airmass. It doesn't matter which direction or how fast (presuming steady state movement - steady winds, not gusty) the airmass is moving. That's all the airfoil cares about. The air travelling over it. It doesn't matter if you are under canopy with a steady wind blowing at 10 mph or inside a 747 going 500+ mph. (toy glider in the bigger plane analogy). The idea that you are going faster downwind or slower upwind is an illusion, based on using the ground as a frame of reference. It's true from that point of view, but the airfoil (canopy) doesn't care about the ground. It only cares about the air it's moving through. 6. No. It won't affect anything but groundspeed. You are flying through the airmass. Your airspeed is the speed relative to the airmass. That will be the same no matter what the wind is doing (presuming the wind is steady). So your descent rate or stall speed or potential for canopy collapse will not change as your direction relative to the wind direction changes. The easiest analogy I know: If you throw a toy glider inside a larger airplane, will it matter if you throw it towards the front of the plane or the back? Edit to add (because you added stuff): Gusts affect how the canopy feels because your momentum keeps the speed from changing as fast as the gust changes the windspeed. It's more turbulence than actual "gusts" once you are off the ground. The wind is changing direction and speed (think of eddies in a river). Those will bounce you around a bit. 7. This. Put a '59 Impala against a new Civic, the Civic will be more survivable. Put that same Civic into a crash with a new Caddy? Bit different outcome. "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." Lucky McSwervy "~ya don't GET old by being weak & stupid!" - Airtwardo
  8. I've often said: "I really want to jump today. But the winds are more than I'm comfortable with, and I'd prefer to not jump today than insist on jumping today and then not be able to jump the rest of the season." "A man's got to know his limits." 9. Well, come on. The Bundy ranch must be where they mined the materials to make the "nano-thermite." THAT"S why the feds want the land. They need to hide all the evidence. Or make more nano-thermite for the next "terrorist attack" that they are planning. Or maybe it's so that the Chinese can make nano-thermite for their next "terrorist attack." 10. Greater? Or smaller? The 35k figure quoted in the OP is of people who were registered in NC, but recorded a vote elsewhere. The actual number of people who were recorded voting in NC and voting elsewhere was... 765. Not 35,000. Not 155,000 765. I have been registered to vote in more than one place several times in my life. After moving back to my hometown, I went to re-register to vote in an upcoming election. I had lived in a nearby town for a few years. I was still registered at my old address. When I moved back to the nearby town (where I still live), I found that I had never "unregistered" there either. In both cases, a simple address change updated my registration. I'm probably still registered in my hometown. I never took any steps to "unregister" there. I have never cast more than one vote in an election. 11. I suppose if you want to drop skydivers you can't just stencil 'EXPERIMENTAL' on the side. Bummer. Actually, I think you can't do any commercial ops in an experimental. Now, if it wasn't a commercial operation and nobody was paying for the jump, may actually be legal. Not exactly. We've had this discussion before. I don't know the specifics, but some people who do made comments in THIS thread. Apparently, experimentals have a list of approved operations on the cert. If skydiving isn't listed on there, it's not legal. Not that it can't be done. Or hasn't been done. "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." 12. I read through the blog you linked (first link, didn't go back from where you started it). Something that caught my eye is how everything isn't his fault. It's always an 'external problem' or "someone else's fault." Riiiiight. "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." 13. SDC does a really good job with it. I covered a few things about the load organizers in your "Intro & Greets" post, here are a few more: When you check in, there's a ~5min video that covers landing areas, outs (DON"T land at the horse farm), overall stuff. Note: It's a fake beard. Get your tickets at the window, not in the office. The manifest ladies are very nice, but their patience gets tested. Don't be an idiot. Belly fliers and their organizers are in the southeast corner of the hangar. Be honest about your experience and you will be put in an appropriate group. Be at the loading area at the 5 min call. Make sure you understand loading/exit order. It's usually communicated very well among the groups. They follow "standard" exit order. Know the pattern and landing direction before you get on the plane. Like loading/exit order, it's usually well communicated. FOLLOW THE LANDING DIRECTION!! They have "watchers" in the landing area. If you do something stupid, Donavan will "discuss" it with you. Doing it a second time generates a "bit different" discussion. There are plenty of outs, and if you land out they will come get you. The regular landing area is huge, if you aren't comfortable in heavy traffic, land further out and walk back. That's what I do. Other stuff: Alan is a fabulous chef, get to the Tiki Bar early if you don't want to wait forever in line. Wear pants at the Tiki Bar. Don't get into a drinking contest with Vader. You will lose. Bring a toga. Or something that will function as one. Wally World is just down the road. If you find you need something, someone is usually making a run "soon" and you can tag along. If you plan on sleeping at night, camp at the far end (north end) of the campground. If you are within a couple hundred yards of the Tiki Bar, you will not sleep. If you plan on partying, camp close to the Tiki Bar, but beware of finding strangers passed out in your tent. Don't "borrow" a golf cart just because it's sitting there. Ask first. 14. There's lots of great coaching there. It's part of the boogie. The sponsored members of the Rhythm team (and others too) do a lot of load organizing. The dirt dive and then the debrief after are full of helpful stuff, and always presented "nicely" (Steve has a way of saying "There was a lot of opportunity there" meaning "opportunity to do it better"). I've been going for the last 5 years. It's a ton of fun, and a lot of learning too. Edit to add: Last year, JaNette took a couple of different newer jumpers and did really small stuff (3 way with her, the new one and another that she trusted). It was cool to see, even if it did mean she kicked me to the curb for the newcomers. "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." 15. Did the Bundy family own it? Or did they just use it? There's a pretty distinct difference. Owning it means filing the paperwork, holding title and paying taxes. Way back in the frontier days, it wasn't hard to do. Homesteading was pretty common. But if they just used it for their cattle, without having title or (more importantly) without paying any taxes on it, then they were subject to the rules changing and getting booted the entire time. Lot of people use a lot of BLM land for a lot of things. And they tend to get mad when the rules change and their ability to use the land is changed (usually not for the better). That's part of the thing about public land. It's usually free to use, but the rules for it's use can be changed by the politicians or the bureaucrats at any time. 16. welcome. Summerfest is a blast. They have something for everyone, even the low experience jumpers. I'll be there for the 2nd half. I usually do organized belly stuff with Rhythm. 17. Part of the argument (at least a part that I see) is that far, far too many people have been taught to be passive. To "give them what they want so they won't hurt you" to "not fight back no matter what." How many schools have a "No violence what ever" policy? Where a student will be expelled for fighting back against a bully. There are a lot people who think that teaching a kid boxing, karate or some other form of unarmed combat is teaching them to be violent. Every state that has passed a concealed carry law has had to fight the "We will turn into the 'Wild West'" argument, made by people who won't fight back no matter what. People who have carefully considered all the factors and have decided to carry (admittedly not all carry permit holders think it through all the way) have decided to fight back if there is no alternative. I don't know what the actual situation was in the school, and accurately targeting an individual with a knife in a moving, confusing situation (which this almost certainly was), is very , very difficult. And going up against a knife is a very dangerous proposition. The fact that it is only dangerous at contact range makes taking down a person armed with a knife a tough decision. A guy with a gun can shoot you at a reasonable distance, so you aren't 'safe' anywhere in the room. As long as you stay out of arms reach, the guy with the knife can't hurt you. Tables, pillars, closed doors, and such are all "knife proof." But shouting "Drop it or I will shoot!!!" would have been an option. It wouldn't have stopped someone who didn't care if they lived through the situation, but it would give pause to everyone else. That would give the bystanders a chance to get clear (maybe). 18. Well, my friend was promised delivery in 2 weeks. That was 3 weeks ago. And nothing has shown up. More empty promises. Edit to add for clarity: Order was originally placed and paid for (2 of 3 items paid in full) on Aug 3 last year. the "2 week delivery" was a promise made 3 weeks ago. 19. Hmmm...I thought AR-15s were hunting rifles. I could swear people keep saying that. I'm going to guess that those are M-16s, not AR-15s. Very similar in appearance (and very similar period), but the M16 is select fire, capable of full automatic fire (or 3 round burst, depending on model). They fall under the National Firearms Act of 1934, and are very tightly regulated for civilians. Not so much with cops. "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." 20. The local reg situation is actually a lot simpler. There is enough precedent that the courts will pretty much rule the laws as unenforceable at the first court hearing. The locality can file an appeal, but unless they are particularly obstinate, their attorney will tell them that it's a losing proposition. And not even Lloyd's will provide DZ liability. It's been discussed. Post 99 of this thread (for some reason I can't link just the post): http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?do=post_view_flat;post=4605117;page=1;sb=post_latest_reply;so=ASC;mh=25; And I fully understand the concept of "Deep Pockets" and the "Shotgun Approach" to lawsuits. 21. Maybe in the radio world, but not in aviation. At least not in the US. There have been numerous court cases where a local entity tried to regulate an airport. Often in a "Airport Hater" situation where the idiot had pull at the local, county or even state level. Stupid, restrictive laws were passed, and were ruled unenforceable. The FAA doesn't allow local laws because it would create a patchwork of confusing and conflicting rules. It's been tested enough times that the court battles are usually pretty short. What "Liability Insurance" are you talking about? There's liability to cover the plane if it falls out of the sky and lands on someone's house. There's also "Trip And Fall" liability to cover stuff that happens on the property. But liability for the DZ? For jumpers? No such thing in the US. Not anywhere, at any price. We had this discussion a few weeks ago. Guy was a kayak instructor and was getting a quote from his agent. He was pretty sure he could get DZ liability. Gee, I wonder why he hasn't come back with that information yet? "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." 23. No. It's not for real. There is no FAR regarding floatation devices for skydivers. None at all. FAR 105 covers skydiving, nothing in it at all. There is a USPA BSR that covers them. But it only applies to jumpers with round canopies or solo students, not tandems. I don't know if there's a Mass DOT rule on it, but if the state was dumb enough to pass one, it's not enforceable. Skydiving is an "aeronautical activity." The FAA has full authority to regulate it. In order to prevent a confusing and conflicting patchwork of rules, and to prevent states from passing stupid or unduly restrictive rules, the FAA has the only authority to regulate it. Any state law that is passed is not enforceable. This has been tested many times in court. The FAA has always won. So, there is an answer to your question. Now, who are you? And why do you ask? We've seen "you" before. And a lot of others like you. Ambulance chasers hoping to get a big settlement, despite an ironclad waiver. Stupid and selfish people who bought a house right by the airport because it was cheap, who then decided that they didn't like the noise and want the airport to go away. Or someone with a different agenda. Very rarely is it simply someone who wants to know for the sake of knowing. "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit."
