We can still learn from it, means it isn't beating a dead horse. As long as names/DZ's aren't mentioned, and they weren't, where is the harm? As for name calling, again, show me. People are not naming names, but people are getting defensive. Derek

I already replaced the spark plug wires and spark plugs. It is a 4 cyl with 2 ignition coils and 8 plugs. If one dropped out, it would still run ok, like an airplane on one magneto. Derek

No distrubutor, electronic ignition, so it's not the timing. Already checked, no codes. It is set right. There was no change before to after the TPS was replaced. I'll try Ford-Trucks.com. I got a tip to re-set the PCM. I'm also going to go loking for a vacuum leak with carb cleaner or something. I figure the Mystery oil and restore can't hurt and are cheap, so I'll try those too. I was also thinking the coolant temp sensor. I really think the EGR vavle is opening when it shouldn't sometimes. Derek

Did your check engine light come on? I got a code for that not too long ago and already replaced it anyway. Derek

I have replaced: Spark Plugs and Spark Plug Wires Mass Air Flow Sensor Throttle Position Sensor Oil/Oil Filter EGR Valve 2x O2 Sensors Purge Valve Canister Solenoid and Switch Assembly Air Filter Fuel Filter Idle Air Control Valve Checked the PCV valve, it's OK Still not fixed. Things to check: Timing Vacuum (not sure how I am going to do that. I looked at the vacuum lines and they all seem good. I pulled the vacuum line off the EGR Valve and put my finger over the end and it had vacuum.) EGR Vacuum Regulator Solenoid Engine Coolent Temperature Sensor Air Intake Temperature Sensor PCM Computer Derek

Ya, I tried that a while back, pulled it off, cleaned it up, and put it back on. Didn't change anything. I don't think it was broken in the first place. Derek

Do you know many jumps you have on your Cypres1 batteries
Hooknswoop replied to Hooknswoop's topic in Gear and Rigging
Then why 2 years? What if you only make a couple of jumps in that time? I have heard, but do not know if it is true, that the Cypres1 can turn on but lack enough power to fire. In aviation, you see a lot of hours/time/whichever comes first maintenance requirements. Derek -

The batteries drain from use (jumps) and over time. How else could they do it? Derek -
petition for exemption to the 120 day reserve repack cycle denied

Yep, 2 stickers, "Re-pack Due:" and "Maint Due: / Batts Due:" Derek -
My stamp has my cert # and seal code. I bought a stamp to prevent pencil packing and to make sure it was legible. As for my signature, sorry, but the space is too small and it has never really been legible. Packing data cards need to be revamped. 1 card for each major component and larger spaces for information on each line. The S/N block is too small for Cypres1 S/N's. Derek

OK, replaced the Idle Air Control Valve. Didn't fix it. Replaced the Fuel Filter and drove it for 1-mile stop and go, trying to get it to screw up again, no problems so far. I won't know for sure since it has run fine for miles at a time without a problem. I'll know for sure in a day or two. Thanks to everyone for their help. Hopefully it is fixed. Derek

Would a vacuum leak explain the surging/dieing to idle with the throttle wide open 3-8 times, then running normally from idle on up? Derek
-
Plugs were OK, but old. I waited too long to replace them. With 2 plugs/cyl, I got lazy. No oil/coolant mixing. Derek
-
Checked it, it was bad, replaced it, didn't fix the problem. Derek
-
Ya, fuel filter is on the list. Derek
-
I have replaced some of them. What makes this hard is it goes away for a while. I can walk out and it starts up and runs completely normal. Other times it throws a fit, then runs normal. This is driving me nuts. Derek
-
OK, will do. I got a PM that someone else had the same problem and it was the timing. They got it fixed for $50-ish. Seems like it could be so many things. I figure the stuff I am replacing was going to break soon anyway. I would rather replace parts that have a lot of miles on them than pay for diagnostics. Derek

What happened to the Instructors involved? Derek
-
I'll try that is the Idle Air Control Vavle I just bought doesn't fix it. Derek
-
Right, but it only does it sometimes. If it was the filter, it would always run poorly. Derek

Jumping Restrictions near Denver
Hooknswoop replied to DickMcMahon's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Maybe, but I bet the City of Brush talks about it even more, which is bad for you. Derek -

It's 2 years/ 500 jumps. Derek -
Ya, I think I'll try that next. Derek

If it was the fuel pump or ignition coil (it has 2 for 8 plugs), wouldn't it do it all the time? I hope it isn't the computer, $140.00 for a new one. Derek

The Chk eng light isn't on. I am trying to avoid taking it in to a dealership. Derek
