  1. HAHAHA...that's disturbingly hilarious....or hilariously disturbing. I'm not sure which yet.
  2. Things darken up some when women get pregnant (not always, but it's not uncommon). They tend to lighten up for some (but again...not always) after the pregnancy is over.
  3. My daughter will be 2 next week, so she's never really unsupervised. She does accompany me to the DZ, but I always have someone there so I don't have to leave her alone while I jump. She loves watching the planes and the people falling from the sky! We make sure she's out of everyone's way and don't just let her run around like a maniac. The one time that she did start to get grumpy, my husband took her out for some food and came back and got me when they were done.
  4. This is pretty much how I imagined it would be. Since I don't have ADHD or anything myself, I can only base my thoughts on knowing my cousin, who does have it. The only time she doesn't seem like she's thinking about a billion things at a time is when she is really into something. When I was reading the initial post in this thread, all I was thinking was that it seemed to be the opposite of what I would expect!
  5. Reading through this made me think of a clip from Mr. Show. I wish that damn show was still on. Anyway, here it is. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lFo8NGO4nTA
  6. I've used it with a checking account and with a credit card and I haven't really had any problems. I use Ebay from time to time, and it sure makes things easier when you get scammed. They will generally fix things unless there is some huge reason not to...at least in my experience, they have.
  7. Wheaton IL is also a dry city/town. Not anymore, but it was for a long time. Can't sell booze before noon on Sunday though.
  8. I saw Graham, and I thought of Charlotte, NC which at one point had the most churches AND strip clubs per capita... I don't think there's a single strip club in Wheaton, IL. Wheaton College didn't even allow dancing until 2003, and it was a huge deal when they had a dance ending that. http://edition.cnn.com/2003/EDUCATION/11/14/wheaton.dance.ap/
  9. Why would you use scripture to explain why all us heathens should behave a certain way? Also, I wasn't being judgmental. I was just observing what was already posted.
  10. My dog tried to mount my cat. BLASPHEMER!
  11. Ever seen, "I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry?" This made me think of their gay Jewish wedding ceremony. It's pretty funny.
  12. That's nothing! I heard a televangelist on the 700 club proclaim that legalizing gay marriage is a pre-cursor to legalizing sex with pre-pubescent children! I heard that NAMBLA has a float in the gay pride parade, funded exclusively by the Vatican. *another joke
  13. Well, thanks! I think there are subsets of society that try to undermine ANYTHING that doesn't coincide with their views. While I'm not a religious person by any stretch of the imagination, I can't comprehend how anyone could use religious tenets as a basis for passing judgment on others. I get that it happens...a lot. I just don't see how they think it's justified. What I also don't understand is how, if someone's beliefs are so strong, anything that any other person does could have such an impact on them. Your beliefs are exactly that...YOURS. They aren't mine, or hers, or his. I guess the concept of "live and let live" was lost on some people.
  14. Are you serious? You can find studies to back up any view you happen to have, so I'm not going to waste my time finding something that says the exact opposite of your last paragraph. The implication that people are narrow-minded and ignorant and must not have been educated in the ways of religion if they believe that you are 100% ridiculously wrong is pretty ignorant and egocentric in and of itself. I was raised in one of the most Christian towns in the country (Billy Graham Center, Wheaton College, more churches per capita than any other town in the US, etc). I went to church for as long as I can remember or, in the words of George Carlin, "until I reached the age of reason." If "the real issue regarding gay marriage is that it is a fight against christianity and nothing more" is true, then why do so many Christians waste time and money of the court system filing the paperwork for a legal marriage and, eventually, the divorce paperwork? If it's all about Christian doctrine, shouldn't simply devoting yourselves to one another before God be enough? No. You want the paperwork too. If it's for insurance purposes or anything else that comes with marriage, that would imply that it isn't a purely religious thing, negating much of what is in your post. I know all of those evil anti-christian gay people are out there purely for the purpose of breaking down religion, but what about all of the people that say things like what you said here? Gay people choose to be gay? What person would CHOOSE a lifestyle that has the potential to cause so many difficulties? I could say the exact same thing here. The religious right CHOOSES to be religious and can be reformed to perfectly balanced, non-judgmental citizens just like the rest of us. I could say a few choice things here, but everything else that is popping into my head would really piss off too many people and be generally insulting, obscene, crass, etc.
  15. Theoretically, nice guy...but I always pick the bad boys so I voted for them.
  16. Wow! That had to be one of the most ignorant comment I have ever read in a while. Hi. I'm Cari. In the spirit of the thread, I thought I'd make a funny. Apparently, some people didn't get it. Oops I am sorry. The sad thing is that are people on here that actually talk like that seriously. My bad. Lol. I certainly don't want anyone to think I'm a bigot. I find the arguments that people have against gay marriages (or unions or whatever the appropriate term is this week) to be pretty silly. I just don't get why so many people have such an interest in the private lives of others.
  17. I wasn't aware of that, but I can't say I'm opposed. A friend homeschools his kids (he says they are "un-schooled). I think they are done a disservice, that will haunt them all of their life. I found this on the quick, but I've read and heard consistently that home schooled kids produce far superior results than the public school system. From my own observations, the kids of friends of mine that are home schooled, seem to be far more well-rounded as well. http://ezinearticles.com/?The-Results-of-Home-Schooling-vs-Public-Schools&id=583831 I agree that home-schooled kids can POTENTIALLY do really well. The unfortunate issue with it is those kids whose parents think that school is an optional thing that they may or may not deal with that day. When parents do it because they genuinely have the ability to do a better job than the local school system could do, fantastic! The fact that so many idiots decide that they want to be "anti-establishment" or whatever and don't want their kids in school to make some kind of ridiculous statement is what really irks me. FYI, I've been contemplating home-schooling my daughter once she's of school age, but it's because we live in an area with shitty schools and can't afford to move or send her somewhere fancy. From what I've been reading though, they're doing better than they have in past years. If they keep it up for the next few years, I might actually feel like she's getting a worthwhile education by the time she's old enough for school!
  18. I think it's kind of like giving the kid that rides the short bus an easier grading scale because...well, I'll just leave it at that.
  19. You haven't really spelled out much at all. He had some shitty things thrown his way and proceeded to deal with them in a shitty manner. He's awful and flat-out saying that people who don't realize what he has (not) done are ignorant is pretty ridiculous. The only good thing that he's done is incite quite a few people to involve themselves in the democratic process instead of sitting idly by while the "ignorant" proceed to vote another GWB into office. You havent answered my question???? Lincoln had to deal with the nation in the state it was left by Buchanan and took the country through its biggest internal strife EVER. FDR had to deal with WWII and the Great Depression and still managed to bring about the New Deal (SEC, FDIC, SSA), the UN, eliminated prohibition, FLSA, the Wagner Act, and a variety of other accomplishments. Kennedy had to deal with the ramifications of the Cold War, Cuba (Bay of Pigs, CMC), Vietnam, and the civil rights movement. Through all of this, he still managed to have a prolific, albeit short, career. Being President of the US generally involves dealing with a lot of pretty big situations simultaneously. It's how you react to those situations that ultimately determines your legacy. Bush's legacy is not going to be well-regarded, if you ask me. I'm still waiting for you to enlighten us ignorant masses....
  20. Wow! That had to be one of the most ignorant comment I have ever read in a while. Hi. I'm Cari. In the spirit of the thread, I thought I'd make a funny. Apparently, some people didn't get it.

  22. But what happens when those dogs try to raise kids? The kids will totally be ripped apart once they start school. Don't they ever think of how it will affect the children?! Edited out typo.
