Why is it that the more conservative one is in politicts and religion the more they complain about helping the poor through higher taxes? If Jesus were to appear today, do you think he would would be hanging out with Limbaugh or the homeless? Would Jesus be in favor of universal health care or health care only for those that could afford insurance? Please feel free to quote any scripture (new testament) in your response.

To many variables, First there are very few hospitals that could only handle one serious case at a time. Second is it a poor elderly American on borrowed time or 6 year old "illegal" child? The problems with hospitals and illegals is not the life threatining conditions but all the illegal people that come to the ER with the sniffles. For all these people that would deny life saving treatment to illegals, and on average are the right winger christian type, once again completly ignore the basic tenants of the teachings of their hero Jesus.

Bono has done more and spent more than most celebs for good causes, good on him if he can save a few bucks that enable him to support more charities. After all is this not what Jesus would do? My experience has been with the 'con' man and the perpetrator of the fraud. It is not uncommon for 'con' men to be generous with family, friends and charities. Perhaps they believe that their generosity will purchase love, respect or forgiveness. However, the time when the purchase of 'indulgences' was an acceptable method of seeking forgiveness died with the Reformation. No church, no charity, no organization should allow itself to be used as a salve for the conscience of the criminal. We all are grateful that forgiveness is available but we all, also, must perform our duty. That includes the Judge and the Jury. I remind myself of the biblical admonition of the Prophet Micah: 'O man, what is good and what does the Lord require of you. To do justice, love mercy and walk humbly.' We are urged to love mercy but we must do justice. You urge Judge Ito to look into his heart -- as he sentences Charles Keating -- and do what Jesus would do. I submit the same challenge to you. Ask yourself what Jesus would do if he were given the fruits of a crime; what Jesus would do if he were in possession of money that had been stolen; what Jesus would do if he were being exploited by a thief to ease his conscience? I submit that Jesus would promptly and unhesitatingly return the stolen property to its rightful owners. You should do the same. To be even fairer the 70 dollars an hour is, Hourly pay ( average pay is about 28 dollars an hour), bennies, health and pesion cost for people who have retired. To think an auto worker is making 70 an hour ( 150,000 a year) with bennifits is just silly.

The Catholics have done some good things, however.... They have done far more harm than good. Thier position on birth control continues to ensure suffering in third world countries for generations to come. Thier policy on divorice will keep women in loveless and abusive marriages until thier death. Thier view on stem cell recearch will hinder progress that could cure many of our worst diseases. I will be making my first jump today after the death of a jumper I had sat next to on the pac before her fatal jump. I never have had this much anxiety before a jump and I am hoping it goes away once i'm out the door. I have alweays accepted the risk with this sport but I never realized that the death of someone else could affect me so much. Just curious if anyone else has had this problem and how they deal with it.

I also work in a hospital for medically fragile children and it is fundwed by the state, If they dont pay us, we will have to ship all of our 36 kids to acute hospital PICU'S. 1000 bucks a day per kid with us VS 5000 in a PICU, Plus fill up all the PICU beds in the bay area This shit sucks

First couple jumps sheer terror from jumpming out of a plane, next couple of jumps, major performance anxiety from having to perform AFF shit. Next 10 jumps still kind of jittery, and now nothing much. Take your pulse on the way to altitude every few jumps and I am sure it will go down in time.

I was trying to find out if the car was on fire or at least smoking, if not I would think most people know not to touch anyone in this situation. The Judge rulde that the act of pulling her out of the car was not a medical act and therefore not covered under the GSL. Think if you went in hard on a landing and some idiot thougt they would carry you closer to the street to be closer when EMS arrived, and you ended up paralyzed do to this action. Do they derserve protection? it's a tough call but I think the intent of the law is good. But what a bitch for a friend.

I work as a nurse at a long term care facilty for children who have suffererd some of the most horrific accidents and illnesses, most will spend the rest of thier short lives here. For what ever reason, many of thier familys will never return to visit, its heartbraking. If anyone wanted to do something really special, they could find one of these facilities near them and donate a toy or some clothes. Most Christians just pick out the parts that fit well with thier life styl and dump the others ( no stonings, killing your children, refususing to follow kosher laws etc ect ect......) If Bush would have been this honest in 2000 he would have never been elected. ... Unique sistuation? There are tens of millions of people who do not have safe water to drink, food to eat or basic medicine. In the time it takes to read this post, hundreds of children in the third world will die a death we can not even imagine. I think the last thing on a starving child or thier parents mind at this time is finding your god.

I do respect your beleifs and I don't think any non-believer who has posted here would ever try and deny you that right. Believe it or not I read and listen to the bible on an almost daily basis, it fascinates me. I mostlty listen to secular audio lectures (The teaching company mostly) on the NT. I work as a nurse in a long term care facility for children who have suffered some of the most terrible accidents you can imagine. Every year at this time we have church groups with the best of intentions come in to sing carols and remind the children to thank god for all they have and put thier faith in god, who can work miracles for them, It makes me sick, No miracles happen where I work, just sick and dying children on a daily basis. You speak of medical miracles, the day I see a severed limb grow back from prayer is the day I mite become a believer, but we both know that will never happen. If you believe that god is: 1, All powerful 2, Merciful and kind Then how can you explain suffering?
