Somali Christians Beheaded for Converting from Islam
jclalor replied to warpedskydiver's topic in Speakers Corner
[ The Catholics ( Croats) blew up the bridge at Mostar during a cease fire. 90% percent of the civilian deaths were "ethnic Bosnians" or Muslims. Serbians = Orthodox Christians Croatians = Catholics Ethnic Bosnians = Muslim Many Orthodox Christian volunteers came to fight for the Serbs, they camefrom Russia, Europe the US, and in particular Greece. Some of the worse atrocities were committed by the greek under the blessing of the Greek Orthodox church. I know this was not 100% war of religion but most of the atrocities were and religion did play a part. We will have to just agree to disagree on the extent that religion played, -
It seems Obama has answered questions from the right at his meetings as opposed to Bush who screened all of the people at his town hall meetings and would remove anyone they deemed "a threat to be disruptive during the meeting" can you imagine the nerve of people trying to disrupt a townhall meeting. The Great AFF Experiment has been an Abject Failure . . .
jclalor replied to NickDG's topic in Instructors
I went thru S/L training in 1982 and made about 40 jumps and then took a brief 26 year break and then did AFF last year. From a srudents perspective I thought AFF was safer and much more instructive over S/L. The student progression of doing 5 S/L'S from 2800 and then the 5,10 15 second delays from 4k with no altimiter or AAD now seems crazy. AFF from 13k seemed like forever in FF. This is just my opinion and I know for the most part I still don't know shit. -
Somali Christians Beheaded for Converting from Islam

Having experienced the Bosnian conflict first hand, it was obvious to me that religion had little or nothing to do with it. The vast majority of Bosnian men had never been to a mosque prior to the outbreak of the war. The sides never ralied under the religious banner. The media and others found it easy to group them into Catholic, Muslim and Orthodox. Although the roots that could be traced back hundreds of years did have religulous ties, the issue in this conflict was a about weak men who could at believed them. These were not religious people, rather those saw an opportunity to control others and seized it. It is easy to group them by religion as this is what the war in Bosnia was about, The Orthodox Christian Serbs after the breakup of Yugoslovia wanted the Muslims out of Bosnia or dead. The 8,000 dead Muslims in Scebenica mass graves was not by accident. If 8,000 Christians ended up in mass graves at the hand of muslims, you know the response from the west would have been much different. The press seldom mentioned religion in this war except when it came to muslims. I remember seeing many large orthodox crosses on serb tanks and crosses and orthodox saints on the stocks of AK-47's. -
Somali Christians Beheaded for Converting from Islam

The atrocities comitted by Christians in the former Yugoslovia, Tha massacre of women and children in refugee camps in Beirut by Christians, The role of Catholics in the genocide in Rwanda. The list goes on and on, and dont forget the MD just shot in the head while at chuch by the Jesus freak. Hope you get a chuckle. -
I am just curious as why you would need to fly planes into the buildings and then still blow them up. Would not the planes or explosives do enough damage by themselves? When the goverment can not even keep the simplest of secrets how would hundreds if not thousands of conspiritors keep this secret? Listing the credentials of some of your supporters means nothing. Look at some of those who say we never landed on the moon. Education does not make one immune from idiotic ideas. Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence.

Hollister has a plan for a million feet for a thousand dollars prepaid, most loads are to 15k out of a PAC, and that works out to 15 bucks, you cant go wrong. I think this is the cheapest in the USA -
Parents Have Public Brawl Over Which Gang Their Toddler Should Join

And this toddler was not removed from the custody of his parents? Foster care would be much better for this child. -
Ever just lose interest in jumping?
jclalor replied to hackish's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I find myself asking why I still do this, I love the sport but have had the unfortunate experience of sitting next to 2 fatalities on the ride up since january. -
... The fact is atheist do not need to beleive in anything other than reality, in the end thats all we have. Since it really does not matter what happenes in the end, what happenes now does and we believe in living our lives to the fullest. Atheist do not do good under the blackmail of hell, we do it because it's the right thing to do.

So what did this cartoon get right?
jclalor replied to ntrprnr's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I beleive he asked both. -
I contend that we are both atheists. I just believe in one fewer god than you do. When you understand why you dismiss all the other possible gods, you will understand why I dismiss yours. – Stephen Roberts

The best thing you can do is just listen yo your affi and try and relax. With that being said, 15 or 20 minutes in a tunnell is a great way to learn body position and such. A quick trip to the bay area could cost a lot less than multiple failed aff levels.

While I did not know Ken I was with him those final minutes, I wish I could have done more. My deepest sympathy to all of his family and friends.

This did happen to me and I am not in any way trying to make light of the situation, It fucking sucks like you will hopefully never have to know. Please don't presume to think I have not gone over every detail of those jumps a million times in my mind to see what could have been done different or how it could of been me. I am not a superstitious person and was just wondering the odds.
-
I have never been to good at math and was just wondering the odds or probability of this situation: A jumper with about 100 jumps since the first of the year. That same jumper sitting next to a jumper who would become a fatality on that jump. Then have it happen again on another jump, all since the first of the year. Thanks, John

From Christopher Hitchens: "I pose a hypothetical question. As a man of some fifty-seven years of age, I am discovered sucking the penis of a baby boy. I ask you to picture your own outrage and revulsion. Ah, but I have my explanation all ready. I am a Mohel: an appointed circumciser and foreskin remover. My authority comes from an ancient text, which commands me to take a baby boy's penis in my hand, cut around the prepuce and complete the action by taking his penis in my mouth, sucking off the foreskin and spitting out the amputated flap along with a mouthful of blood and saliva. This practice has been abandoned by most Jews, either because of its unhygienic nature or its disturbing associations, but it still persist among the sort of Hasidic fundamentalist who hope for the second temple to be rebuilt in Jerusalem. To them, the primitive rite of the peri'ah metsitsah is part of the original and unbreakable covenant with god. In New York City in the year 2005, the ritual as performed by a fifty-seven- year-old Mohe, was found to have given genital herpes to several small boys, and to have caused the death of at least two of them. In normal circumstances the disclosure would have led the public health department to forbid the practice and the mayor to denounce it. But in the capital of the modern world, in the first decade of the twenty-first century, such was not the case. Instead, Mayor Bloomberg overrode the reports by distinguished Jewish Physicians who had warned of the danger of the custom, and told his health department to postpone any verdict. The crucial thing, he said , was to be sure that the free exercise of religion was not being infringed" It's so great when parents are allowed to make choices for their children when it involves religion. And for everyone that says parents have the right to choose for their children, I guess somewhere there is a line that should never be crossed, but Little girls should not be told they are less than anyone and forced to hide their identity from a young age. Don't like it, then they should move back to the desert.

Ah, I see. Since the current law isn't being enforced, we need to...make more laws? How does that follow? To be honest, I am very conflicted with some of my post, I have usally always had an absolute hatred for a group that will beat women as they do. Is this all Muslims? obviously not, just the ones that believe in arranged marriages, honor killings, and one of the worst acts, Female circumcision, that is still performed in Europe. There are large Muslim sections just outside Paris that the police will not even enter. WE don't need to make any new laws since it is a sovereign nation. I am excited to watch the progress that will come to France with this new law. One can not stop the march of rationalism that has been growing as the world (Western part) becomes more and more secular.

l I bet the french police do just as good a job at protecting Islamic women as the Police department in Arizona city, Co. does in protecting 13 year old girls from being forced to marry 60 year old men. PS: Perhaps you have missed that the Koran states it is not only OK but required to beat or stone a disobedient women. I wonder how many beat to a pulp women call the police in France. I'm gonna go out on a limb and say not many.

I do believe the right to raise your child as you see fit is a fundamental right, to a point. I also believe as I have stated that religion only propagates because it is inoculated into the very young. With out this, religion will falter and the world will be much better off when decisions are based on science and rational thought, and not the superstitious beliefs of the middle ages.
-
The Islamic movement in France is just not about practicing their faith, it's about changing the country they have chosen to relocate too. From demanding the three little pigs be removed from children's textbooks to demanding the implementation of sharia law, France and it's surrounding countries are growing weary of their new residents and their inability to ASSIMILATE. look at what happened to Denmark over a couple of cartoons.

I do see your point, what about outlawing the burqa until the age of 18? France did outlaw religious headwear for school children a few years back. I just believe that the place to stop superstitious behavior is with children. If children were left to adulthood to choose or deny religion we would be living in a different world.
