First I can't believe I'm posting this. And it is with a sad heart I type this. While I didn't know Lee all that long, I can say without a doubt, he was, "one of the good ones"! We traded jab's in the fourms and shared many a PM about a lot of topics. Lee had been riding my ass about coming to the farm to visit, and I have been building a company from the ground up and cash flow had been tight as hell, Lee kept on ride'n me to come down to visit and offered to pay my way and give me all his videos to make sure I earned money while @ the farm. I told him would try to do a business deal with the owner and have a paid trip there to work and earn my keep. I landed the deal and a called Lee to tell him the good news, he said he couldn't be there that weekend but not to worry he would tell Hans to give me the key to his trailer and to make my self at home and that he would stock the fridge, and he did. Here was a guy willing to let someone he had never met have the run of his home away from home. I was lucky enough to get to return to the farm the first weekend in Nov. this year, I had only been on the field for about 5 mins. when this big old lug walked up and gave me a big hug and a how the hell are ya. He refused to let me buy dinner for him and the wife as a thank you for the place to stay on my early trip, so I had to go across the street and buy a case of beer and stash it in his trailer. While I didn't get to spend much time in person with Lee, I can tell those of you who didn't know him, you really missed out on one great person and as we go through life, we would be very lucky to have a guy like Lee to call a friend, for he truely would give you the shirt off his back to help another person in need. Well yes you would lose the dvd joe cool menu, but you can still have titles, there is a trade off to everything. If you really want to keep the best of both worlds then you need to have an editor you can pay 5 bucks a video so you can import footage, pack or grab a second rig and make the next load, this will allow you to keep the cool idvd menu and still do as many loads as the others and still have the best videos on the dz. Another super time saver is to set up canned shots of the take off, alti's,etc, so all you need to film in pre and post interviews, walk to AC, one or two face shots in the plane and the jump & landing, all that should burn up ONLY a few minutes of film, then drop in your new clips make the need small changes to titles, audio and music and go to burn. you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo

You used the right term, once you tell it to burn in iDVD it renders the video at that point and that is why it takes as long as it dose, it has to render. In order to skip the rendering part altogether and shave a few minutes off the total burn time you could do it as I said above and see if it is more to your liking, however it requires that you have use of a extrenal burner. you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo

If you didn't use idvd and sent the signal back (export) thru your camera to a external dvd recorder (lock your tape so it don't record) you be able to burn in "real time" or in other words however long your videos is, is how long the burn will be, not counting the finalize time. Other then that as DSE said, sounds like your tuned in. You may start to find that people would be willing to wait for your better product and request your services over other guys, seen it happen before a number of times. Faster turn around is not always better, sure you make more loads, unless there is a lot of other video people on the rotation and you have to wait till you name comes back around, if that is the case I would much rather take the time to make a better video and pack and rest up, besides my production companys name is on each video so it has to be done well. you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo

Where do you stand on the issues at hand like skyscam and sitting BOD members willing & knowingly violating the BSR's and MFG's requirements, and the LZ BSR fight. I would like to hear from you if you want my vote on these and any other fresh ideas you may have that you feel would help make our ORG. back to being about jumpers and not about lining the pockets of DZO's or turning a blind eye of GM DZ's because of who knows who. Also are you making a living in the sport, even PT. I'm sorry you took it that way, let me explain, what I mean is you have not been around long enough to know about some of the past actions and been able to see first hand the "good old boy" network at play, lucky you or you would be really disgusted. I didn't mean it as to say you don't have a clue or were not trying to learn what is up past, present or future. I think it would be good to see your name in the running for a BOD seat, I for one don't care that you have only been in the sport for 3 yrs, in fact your just the type of person I had in mind when I said "new blood" because you haven't been around long enough to be on the take or in someones pocket or run a DZ or be some big name hotshot team member seeking an ego stroke on the national level.
