  1. Theres lots happening in victoria as well if your looking to get away for a long weekend. Check out bridgewater, they have a caravan and one of the coolest DZO's Ive ever met. Nagambie puts on some pretty good events as well. Have you seen my pants? it"s a rough life, Livin' the dream >:)
  2. Don't think I'll be making it this year. But I will be there in spirit at the Boogie in Batchelor. Same dates as LP. Takes place in a remote area of northern australia. I've heard stories of this boogie ever since I arrived in Australia. have a look at this thread and check out the pics
  3. How could he have known there were issues with it last week when you paid for it? The issues (Im assuming you speaking about the unit being grouned by gear manufacturers) only came to be public knowledge this week. Have you seen my pants? it"s a rough life, Livin' the dream >:)
  4. Did you do your homework on this brand of AAD before you bought it? It's been grounded in poland for over a year, it was grounded in australia and britain in november of last year. It's not like these issues are just comming out now. The grounding was lifted By both the APF and BPA in a fairly short time and hopefully Argus will get these issues resolved soon. 7. I've had renters insurance ever since ive lived on my own. For around $100/yr I get $35000 in coverage with a $500 deductible. I bought it for the worst case scenario of a total loss due to fire or whatever. Had a break in about a year ago and lost a bunch of stuff. Laptops, cameras, video cameras, video games. pretty much any small electronics they could find. All my Liqour and some skydiving gear that was in a travelbag that they took as well. Total claim was for just over $10,000 once everything was replaced with new items. So ya that $100 a year was totally worth it. Have you seen my pants? it"s a rough life, Livin' the dream >:)
  8. The only stupid questions in skydiving are the ones you don'y ask. There is a whole discussion to be had here regarding what is actually happening during all stages of the flare. Go talk to your instructors, I'm sure they would be happy to answer any questions you have. Have you seen my pants? it"s a rough life, Livin' the dream >:)
  9. I grew up around skydiving. I started skydiving knowing that even if everything goes right I could still be seriously injured or killed. I think students should have a solid understanding of what this means by at least the time they have their A license, if not before their first jump. I agree that skydiving is a pretty safe sport, then again, sports are not that safe. I have seen ambulaces at the DZ on average of around once a month. Just like I see them at the ski hill or the motor cross track. I don't think that most people out for a tandom or their first AFF jump are fully aware of that risk. It's very unlikely that they will die, but there is a chance that they could leave with some broken bones. Have you seen my pants? it"s a rough life, Livin' the dream >:)
  10. I realized that although I have been doing alot of jumping the past year where minimum deployment altitudes are very often around 2500. I haven't once been told that deploying at this altitude may change my EPs. Honestly the thought never really occured to me. No one ever mentioned that if I spend an extra few seconds trying to clear my airspace that I could quickly find myself below my hard deck. There has been briefings about about break off procedures and what to after opening to avoid collisions etc but not once have I heard a LO talk about how EPs can change when pulling lower. Yes I know that this is basic stuff but I honestly never thought about it when I did a 40 way camp with airspeed last year when I had 180 jumps. I was asked if I was comfortable with pulling at 2500 and say, ya sure why not. No further discussion took place about canopy opening times and what altitude I might find myself under a malfunctioning canopy. Have you seen my pants? it"s a rough life, Livin' the dream >:)
  11. So are you saying that on those nice and cloudy days with cloud cover @ 2500 you don’t want to jump? JC Ha, Haven't been on a dropzppne recently that has the lift capacity for that. Have you seen my pants? it"s a rough life, Livin' the dream >:)
  12. I've heard from a few people that there may be a change in minimum deployment altitides. Changing things up to 3000' what are your thoughts on this? Myself, I think it is a good idea. I am mostly a bigway jumper where specified deployments are sometimes around sub 2500' with the canopy I jump, should I have any type of malfunction this could easily put me at sub 1500' before I have to make a decision. I agree that minimum deployment altitudes should be raised to 3000' The extra seconds to deal with shit could save lives. Have you seen my pants? it"s a rough life, Livin' the dream >:)

  22. Stability as in not turning or spinning, as in you are in control of what is happening. I said stability or body position because you could be stable in any body position, belly, back, HD, whatever. Discuss all possibly out comes and what you would do in each situation. Have you seen my pants? it"s a rough life, Livin' the dream >:)
  23. For those of you that jump without an RSL,with the idea that you want to regain stability before deploying your reserve. At what altitude do you find this to be a safe option? At what altitude would you want to deploy your reserve regardless of stability or body position? With that, what altitudes are you normally deploying your main at?
