  1. so what are the most popular current sludiving colours? I was looking at a picture of a recent 32 way that I was on and noticed it was mostly black with blue comming in second, red also noticable then some yellow pinstriping and grips standing out. so what do you find to be the most popular current colour in skydiving? I still am in favour of that strange polish guy on the big ways wearing yellow and pink! makes for a good reference point amongst all the black and red Have you seen my pants? it"s a rough life, Livin' the dream >:)
  2. I've watched this video at least 20 times since I made it last night. It still gives me goosebumps... so many great experiences, so many great people, so many awesome memories. I had to overcome a few hardtimes in 2010, life was REAALLY shitty there for a while, but we don't make year end videos about the hard times. Its the good times that stay with us forever. Life may be hard one day, but the best day of your life may be tomorrow. There is a reason I have "Livin' The dream" tattoed on my chest.
  3. i think I've been to over 30 DZ's in 4 years of jumping
  4. like the title says here is my 2010 year end video. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HweZoNPhu-g Check it out, if you know me your probably in it! 253 jumps, 19 dropzones, around a dozen boogies, Coach 1 and jumpmaster rating. Provincial, state and national competitions. Jumps in Canada, USA and Australia. Fuck yeah 2010 turned out to be an amazing year! Post your year end videos here! 5. Having another go at it. I didn't update this thread, but after I quit smoking for about a week i was in a bad car accident. After about a month of being laid up on the couch being broken I started smoking again out of bordom and quickly got back up to smoking a pack+ a day. I am back on champix again, about a week into the program. should be not smoking at all in the next week. It's amazing how well this drug works to stop your desire to have a cigarette. It pretty much totally removes the cravings for a smoke. It has some fucked up side effects like vivid dreams and severe nausea if you dont take it with fluids but its so worth it. I have some pretty big goals in place to reward myself for quitting... and I do like to achieve my goals so hopefully in the next week or so I will be totally smoke free and not to irritable and angry Have you seen my pants? it"s a rough life, Livin' the dream >:)

    Dreams

I'm on a medication to help me quit smoking. One of the side effects is very vivid dreams. not nightmares or anything like that. It's like dreaming in 3D lol. Sometimes its hard to remember what is real and what was just a dream. Yeah I'm probly going crazy but all you anti smoking assholes are going to have to deal with me being crazy if you want me to quit Have you seen my pants? it"s a rough life, Livin' the dream >:)
  7. ine was also in a Mirage G4. The Cypres was used and was being installed in my rig when the cutter broke. I don't know what rig it had been installed in prior. Have you seen my pants? it"s a rough life, Livin' the dream >:)
  8. If you are looking for a used one you can do a search for "parafoil" in the classified section. Have you seen my pants? it"s a rough life, Livin' the dream >:)
  9. I just had a cypres fail in the same way. Cutter broke completely off the wires. Have been able to kind of put it back together and start the unit up again and let it go thru its checks. once it has gone thru its checks I have disconnected the cutter where the cable was broken and the display still shows a "0" I guess it really does not matter whether the cutter is unplugged, disconnected or broken, once the start up check has been done it does not seem that the cypres checks to see is the cutter is still there or not. Even tired to "short circut" the exsposed wires and nothing happened. Out of curiousity I did the same test with an Argus. turned it on and disconnected the cutter and it still showed "standard" and the display. Would be curious to do the same with a Vigil but don't have one available. Maybe someone could do the test for us. turn it on, disconnect cutter and see what happens. Both units have been left on overnight with the cutters unplugged to see if anything changes. We plan to do some chamber and in air testing with units turned on and cutters removed to see if there is any communication between the cutter and control unit after the initial start up tests are completed... or maybe a manufacturer could step in and let us know what these AAD's are programmed to do. Dexter

Kind of disappointed to be honest. The end of last season was a heart stopper. This season left everything neatly wrapped up... Kind of looks like the end of the series the way they left nothing to be desired. Have you seen my pants? it"s a rough life, Livin' the dream >:)

  12. Ya, a one piece baggy or loose fitting coveralls would be a cheap alternative to help slow you down. They are typically made of a rough material that can sometimes be similar to cordura. They are cheap and durable. If the DZ is tight for money they can be an alternative to buying expensive "skydiving" jumpsuits. I know we have a couple we use for the bigger and taller guys. I had a hard time finding an appropriate jumpsuit when I started out. Im 6'4 and 180lbs or about 195cm and 75kg i think. all the jumpsuits that fit me were for heavier guys so I fell REALLY slow in them. A tight pair of coveralls made for a tall guy really helped out. You can literally get coveralls for any body style as they are mass produced. Have you seen my pants? it"s a rough life, Livin' the dream >:)

    Dexter

I just got caught up on season 5, finally found a place to watch it online and have a decent enough internet connection to watch it (internet in australia sucks!) I'm holdinh high hopes for the season finally. It's going to be very hard to top last season. Something very big is going to have to happen. I have a feeling Deb is going to find out what Dexter really is. There seems to be alot of foreshadowing leading up to this. Of course that could just be misdirection to blow our minds in another way. Have you seen my pants? it"s a rough life, Livin' the dream >:)

    Mirage Ad

Quite. Advertising works on multiple levels but I reckon that the part of the job of this kind of advertising is indirect. It's primary purpose is to insert the name of the company/product onto the viewers list, so that when they are in the market for a new 'product', the discerning buyer will take a closer look at that particular product.. If the advertiser has not managed to establish a presence on the buyers list - they have failed and in this case they clearly have not failed. Yup, you don't see many new dolphins out there, but I sure do see alot of new mirage rigs Have you seen my pants? it"s a rough life, Livin' the dream >:)
  15. This incident happened while an airplane was decending after a JM noticed that the screen on the argus had gone blank so he decided to take his student down in the plane. Have you seen my pants? it"s a rough life, Livin' the dream >:)
  16. That you should never do yourself. Tinting your cars windows yourself I've done this to quite a few of my vehicles. The result is usually ok with a few inperfections. This is ok by me because most of my vehicles are worthless POS cars. Everytime I do this it is a horribly frustrating process. I just bought a 93 toyota camry wagon and I wanted to tint the windows really dark for when I'm sleeping in it at the DZ. I bought 6M of window tint which should have been enough to cover all the side windows and the rear windscreen. Thats 7 windows. First window I somehow managed to cut the tint to short and sure enough I started on the shortest window so I couldnt reuse it on any of the others. So I cut another piece and went about applying the tint and totally fucked it up. If you get the slightest crease in the window tint it will leave a very visable line... this one was fucking full of them! So 3 attemps to get the first window done somewhat half decent. second window goes good, couple small imperfections but I'm okay with that. 3rd window goes pretty good, I think I'm getting better at this Cut out the tint for the 4th window and as I peel the plastic off the back I realize I cut it facing the wrong direction, as if the sticky side would be placed on the outside of the window... and since i had already done the window on the otherside I couldn't use it for that. So I've no wasted about 2M of tint fucking things up, the 4 rear windows are done and look ok. I've decided I'm not going to tint the front 2 as this tint is really dark and seeing at night could be an issue. I have enough tint left to cover the rear windscreen, so I cut it out knowig that it doesn't matter which way the film is facing and as I'm peeling the film off the back the sticky side of the tint made contact with my shirt sleeve when I moved my arm folding the tint over onto itself and sticking to itself kinda like cling wrap does... well that piece of tint is now also totally fucked... you can pull the stuff aprt but it leaves creases in the tint which will be very visable once its applied. So fuck it, the 4 back windows are tinted I have a sunshade for the front window and Im going to buy one for the rear window and 2 front windows for when Im sleeping in the wagon... Should have just bought sunshades for all the windows... there only 5 bucks each and come with suction cups to keep em stuck to the window. At 5 bucks each for I could have bought 8 shades for $40 instead of spending $50 on tint... half of which I totally fucked up So what do it yourself projects have you totally fucked up? 17. I didn't realize that rigs made today don't work correctly without an AAD. Not if you jump at a DZ with mandatory AAD's Have you seen my pants? it"s a rough life, Livin' the dream >:)
  18. I was just going to post that link. Yes the BPA has decided that the argus will not be grounded there. The APF (Australia) still has the Argus grounded. The APF didn't even notify Argus that they were having a meeting to discuss grounding the Argus. Have you seen my pants? it"s a rough life, Livin' the dream >:)
  19. Argus released this statement yesterday http://tools.emailgarage.com/Pub/KI9DGAAAAAA~/rK5I_IaErkSLi9B6lvbYnw~~/AwqDKFqmhU2jPNYueQL9Yg~~/ViewEmail.ashx pretty useless if you ask me. They don't seem to be doing anything to solve the issue and get Argus owners back in the air. Have you seen my pants? it"s a rough life, Livin' the dream >:)
  20. The coldest I've ever been in was -43C. That was in edmonton alberta canada last january or february. Its common for it to get to -30C there.... I recently moved to australia
  21. I posted this on the skysurfer.com.au/forum thread relating to the Argus grounding. So after reading the TD again I have some questions about what is being done to reslove this issue. ~ from the argus events letter The day before this was sent to Aviacom, Aviacom sent this to the APF So the APF responds to this reqeust by Aviacom with their theory on what happened in the Polish Fatality and asked what the course of action would be in light of the secong incident in portugal. What exactly was Aviacom asked to do by the APF? or were they just asking what Aviacom was doing about it? Is it true that both of these cutters were affected by the Argus SB and the new replacement cutter is Aviacoms response to these incidents? Did the APF and TAG request this information from Aviacom at anytime before issuing this TD and let them know that if this information wasn't recieved the Argus would be grounded. What is Aviacom doing to comply with the requests in the last quote and has Aviacom been advised of these requirements by the APF? "This should be a standard test requirement of all AAD manufacturers and equipment manufacturer who approve their fitting to their equipment." Has the APF required this of any other manufactuer of AAD yet? I've Emailed both the APF and Aviacom asking them similar questions. Should be interesting to see what, if any reply I recieve. Aviacoms website says they will be releasing documents next week as to why the Argus has been banned in australia as well as information regarding the Polish and Portugal Incidents. 22. I would call right away, by the next day for sure. I want my intentions to be known. I feel that waiting a week or two to call gives the impression that I wasn't really that interested and now I have nothing better to do so I might as well call you.
