Medical Insurance and Jumping
LaRusic replied to pilotsR4pimps's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I think, right there, is why getting something similar going in skydiving is probably a non-starter. Insurance is based on pooling risk - the population of skydivers is probably too small to make sense. Id have to agree, although it would be nice to have something like DAN cover skydiving, there may be too little interest to make it fly. This is where im happy the army covers any stupid things i do to myself while hurling my body out of a moving aircraft a mile above the earth The Altitude above you, the runway behind you, and the fuel not in the plane are totally worthless Dudeist Skydiver # 10 -

Medical Insurance and Jumping
LaRusic replied to pilotsR4pimps's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Im really kind of surprised that the skydiving community doesnt have something like the Divers Alert Network in the scuba world. The short of it is, an insurance policy specifically for that sport. Anyone up for opening a new business -

I second that, internal frames can also be bent to form to the contours of your back making for a personalized fit. This will let you carry more weight for longer. I have used both, several different kinds of external frames and greatly prefer the internal. My pack for the army is also internal frame, can easily load 90+lbs and have it actually be comfortable. sorry i ment to say that most HD cams pose a snag hazard, other cameras with a lower profile seem better suited for a side mount. I talk with everyone i can, learning as much as possible....TONS of information to take in. Thanks DSE The Altitude above you, the runway behind you, and the fuel not in the plane are totally worthless Dudeist Skydiver # 10

Correct me if im wrong (not flying a camera yet, but want to in the future and reading lots about it) but isnt 2k composites one of the very few that has an inset side mount for HD cameras as so to make them a lower profile and avoid riser strikes. To me this seems best option (besides top mount). Anything else seems like it would be a huge snag hazard The Altitude above you, the runway behind you, and the fuel not in the plane are totally worthless Dudeist Skydiver # 10

If it persists, I would consult a "sport" doctor. R.I.C.E. = Rest, Ice, Compression, and Excercise(PT) (Google it) There's a good chance that the doctor will recommend a new set of shoes for you. Generally running shoes are only good for about 500 miles or 6 months of use. You also may require different shoes for running and the gym. A long time ago when I started running, as simular situation happend to me. The MD diagnosed Plantar Fasciaitis, and I eliminated the problem with RICE, a new pair of running shoes, and Toradol (A strong, but short term use NSAID (like Motrin)). It took me a few weeks to get rid of the pain, without recurrance. A running shoe expert from a marathon shoe store would be good resource for selecting a good shoe for you. If you decide to go that route, make sure to bring a well-worn pair of shoes with you to the store in order to see how your feet are interfacing with the ground. "Running Times" has an annual shoe review that you may be interested in looking-at before getting the shoes. These days, I respect the need for new shoes every 500 miles. 500 sounds like a lot of miles, but when you are doing 12 miles a day, they add-up quickly. My advice is FREE. 100% agree, the running room is a great place to go, they will fit you with a shoe that its made for your foot style and this is EXTREMELY important. with a good shoe your feet wont hurt and running may even become enjoyable Replacing running shoes every 6 months is also a pretty good standard to go by. all shoes eventually lose their support. yes im pretty sure they do advertise it on tv....either way it really does work, im actually pretty impressed with how well it works, the exercises require a lot of coordination which i dont have lol. The meals that are in the package alone makes it worth wild. the funny thing is, running isnt the best exercise, its pretty hard on the body, core classes, weights, and cardio on bikes and stuff. just with ur diet, sounds pretty good, you can always try supplements either herbal or harsh chemical....not always the best idea but if the directions are followed they can help (herbal is the best way to go) or even green tea is a great way to clear ur body of toxins. The sugar free stuff is kinda a bad point...sugar free is good so long as its not replaced with an artificial sweetner....they are hard on the body. Just dont starve urself!!!!!! food is your friend, if you dont eat right your body will go into starvation mode and store EVERYTHING you eat as fat....3 well balanced meals a day along with healthy snacks inbetween and ur good to go

Best Prosumer Video Camera - Not necessarily for Skydiving alone?
LaRusic replied to ntrprnr's topic in Photography and Video
Could always try a sony CX-12, i dont use it for skydiving yet, but will eventually when i have the jump numbers, since it has flash memory. right now i use it for regular video and underwater video, very happy with the picture quality The Altitude above you, the runway behind you, and the fuel not in the plane are totally worthless Dudeist Skydiver # 10 -
