  1. I cant speak for the peoples of the area you were in but the tribe in the documentary didn't really have many options. They had to pay a LOT of money for the food and supplies that had to be flown in. If it weren't for the whale they would need even more. Come to think of it I don't know how they got money in the first place. There is no one for them to sell stuff to. If they told us in the documentary I don't remember.
  2. I used to keep my 32' cabin cruiser at Neah Bay during all the crap when they killed a gray whale. It was parked at the head of the dock that my boat was moored on. I think if it is a part of their culture to hunt whales.. so be it.. but respect your culture enough to do with with the means used in the times when that culture needed to hunt to survive. Saying that.... I think they need to paddle the canoe out to the whaling grounds and not be towed there by a motor launch. They also need to leave the Weatherby .460 rifle home.. and stick to the harpoons their culture used back before the arrival. After a few of the fuckers drown from the whales turning over their boats into the cold waters of the North Pacific.. the whale hunting will stop fairly fast. All of that said... if people want to save the whales out there off the coast of Washington.. they just need to harpoon some of the obnoxious lazy fat little Makah whale hunters. Some cultures still need it to survive to this day. By your logic we should still use hand tools to build our houses. Have you ever bothered to find out how they use the whale? Like the Native Americans used the entire buffalo so does the Inuit peoples use almost all of the whale. IIRC, they don't really use the bones. Also, if I'm not mistaken, each tribe only takes 1 whale (maybe more depending on how big the village is) a year . I can't remember the exact name of the documentary but they had an hour long special on National Geographic Channel about the annual whale hunt of the Inuit people.
  3. Damn you! You always post the south park clips before I can.
  4. You mean Tila Tequilla, her fiance? Yeah. That is. People don't seem to realize that this is what these people do for a living. Do you not trust a study in a medical journal until it comes out in the mainstream media? Who was the first to report the tiger woods scandal? Who were the first to report Michael Jackson died? For people that are so unreliable and never check their sources, according to most people, the "celebrity gossip" websites and papers seem to do a pretty damn good job of being the first to break stories.
  5. Nice to know money wouldn't change ya... I bet you'd spend every penny on thongs.
  6. I was actually referring to the absurdly rich. No way the heiress of the J&J fortune would fall in the category of 1 or 10's of millions. J&J is a MASSIVE company.
  7. Were YOU? No but at least I have sources I can cite. http://www.nypost.com/p/news/national/tip_heiress_casey_GTK7zYmc8hlE0L3aJstULM
  8. My god you're still on this, Zero is a nothing the count does not START from there, Zero separates positive and negative integers. But before you have 1 anything (cars, skydives, bungee jumps, etc.) how many do you have? OMG you people are dense. THERE IS NO YEAR ZERO!!!!! Just because you want to invent one for the sake of your own logical brain doesn't mean you get to.
  9. Clearly all that fap time in your mom's basement makes you an expert on the lives of heiresses. I defer to your learned judgment. Can you point me to an article that says it was most likely diabetes? Were you with her last night when she died? Are you a friend of hers and she told you she's clean now? For someone who claims others don't know what they are talking about you sure aren't offering up a whole lot of evidence to support your claim.
  10. Except that those of us in the know don't count Jan 1, 2000 as the beginning of the decade. Jan 1, 2000 is the start of the final year of the decade. Jan 1, 2001 was the start of the decade (and century and millenium) therefore the end of the current decade is Dec 31, 2010.
  11. It is very likely that is the case. It's just a pet peeve of mine when people say is "an idiot" or "fucked up" when they're clearly wrong or have no idea what they're talking about. Her own fiance said she thinks she OD'd on pills. Even if it were that she died from diabetes that doesn't mean she wasn't fucked up. Ever watch the show Intervention? Those people are living and didn't die from drug addiction but it doesn't change the fact they are fucked up. It appears you are the one that doesn't know what they are talking about. If you're gonna call people "clearly wrong" you might wanna try being right.
  12. The Johnson and Johnson heiress died yesterday. There is no cause of death yet but it is known that she had a drug problem. http://content.usatoday.com/communities/entertainment/post/2010/01/tmz-johnson--johnson-heiress-dies/1 They all do drugs and party all the time. If I was heir to that much money my ass would be in the MBA program at U of C or Northwestern.
  13. Are you sure you're too smart for infantry? I didn't even realize how absurd a year 0 sounds until you put it down like that.
  14. cold steel... or maybe it's titanium. You clearly haven't been reading the whole thread. The year numbering doesn't follow logic or the standard numbering system.
  15. I think that's the year 2000000011 (two billion eleven) you're thinking of.
  16. No, it starts at 0 ***For lack of a better example, neither you nor I are significant in the role of humanity as a whole but we still exist. Speak for yourself... Im kind of a big deal... No, it really doesn't. Go do some research. Have they moved you to infantry yet? I think that would be a good MOS for some one of your... "abilities".
  17. Whether the year 1 is significant or insignificant is of no importance. The calendar still starts at year 1. You can't just say that because something isn't significant it didn't exist. For lack of a better example, neither you nor I are significant in the role of humanity as a whole but we still exist.
  18. WoooooHoooo! Stitch strikes a blow for common sense and logic. Common Sense and Logic: 1 Skittles: 0 Hate to break this to ya old man. But while common sense and logic may be the best answer, humans by nature don't always allow logic to dictate how things are done and therefore when they invent things (like the calendar) common sense and logic don't always prevail. 1 (the year at which the modern calendar starts) + 10=11. Therefore the new decade starts at the year 11, 21, 31... 2011, 2021, 2031 Stitch can give all the contradictory (and logical) examples he likes, unfortunately no amount of logic can change the fact there is a definitive answer.
  19. WTF, Mike!? Wha'd I tell you and bry about making more than 1 page of posts a day before I even wake up!?
  20. Sorry Gene, I'm getting in the reading habit. I'm gonna be leaving for school soon and I've decided that to save money I will not be buying a TV. That leaves reading.
  21. ...or in the alternative, some people do manage to use "having had a good education" as a substitute. proselytizing solipsism apocryphal pogrom Can you honestly tell me you didn't need to look up any of those words to, at the very, least confirm what you thought it meant?
  22. The only thing this year is gonna be full of is Mike and Bry arguing every morning.
