  1. Well, I'm definitely ready for that tongue. Oops...wrong thread... rl If you don't know where you're going, you should know where you came from. Gullah Proverb
  2. It wasn't a tangent. It was a response to your statements, as follows:If a woman has sex in a way that YOU consider to be rape, but she's OK with it, it is not rape... ...the standard for sexual assault/rape is consent - and if she is OK with what he did, then it is OK by definition, even if others disapprove. So, according to those statements from your previous message, if a 21-year-old man talks a 14-year-old girl into having consensual sex with him, and she does it willingly, then it is okay. Obviously, that's not true - it's rape, because she doesn't have the maturity to make such decisions for herself. I'm not trying to suggest that you approve of such acts. I'm just pointing out a flaw in your statement. John, watch my lips: Someone who has not reached the age of consent, cannot consent. Do you understand? It's not a consensual sex act. A fourteen year old cannot legally consent, even if she does say yes. It was a tangent. Everyone here but you understood what bill mean, and even you understood, you just pretended not to. Sheesh! Do you ever back down and admit that you're wrong? Or do you just hold your position until everyone else gives up on the discussion? rl If you don't know where you're going, you should know where you came from. Gullah Proverb
  3. I did a guy older than my father (57 when I was 30), but I haven't been able to bring myself to do a guy my daughter's age (21), although I've had a few offers that were hard to turn down. Perhaps one of these days, I'll get over it. Mostly, I don't care about age, or about too many other things we're supposed to worry about. Give me a guy with a good mind, and not much else matters (as long as he bathes regularly). rl If you don't know where you're going, you should know where you came from. Gullah Proverb
  4. There were bad immediate consequences in all those changes you mentioned, even if the changes were ultimately good. I have no problem imposing hardship on adults. I am one; I can take it. I have a lot of trouble when the fallout lands on children. They are our most precious resource, and we need to take better care of them I agree that our educational system needs to be fixed. I don't agree school vouchers are the way to fix it. I'm so confused. I think I'm having two different arguments in this thread, and I can't keep up this week. Sorry. rl If you don't know where you're going, you should know where you came from. Gullah Proverb
  5. Florida has a constitution, little 'c'? And all this while I thought that Jeb had taken care of that little hinderance. We Senators use the big 'C' Constitution thingie mostly. Florida lawyers take the Florida Constitution very seriously, and they use it frequently. You only think that Florida is one of the Lower 49. Really, it's another country. rl If you don't know where you're going, you should know where you came from. Gullah Proverb
  6. OMG! Don't tell him that. He's going to be even more unbearable now. Why Cheryl hasn't drowned him in the hot tub yet, I don't know. rl If you don't know where you're going, you should know where you came from. Gullah Proverb
  7. It is based on the assumption that emotional and verbal abuse is more often more harmful in the long run than physical abuse, particularly for children, who have an inherent right to be free of it. Your domestic situation is a problem with which you can choose to deal or not. Children, however, have the right to be reared in a mentally healthy environment, and one in which parents are fighting as you describe is not it. rl If you don't know where you're going, you should know where you came from. 8. I hate almost everything made with matzoh meal except for gefilte fish. I will eat matzoh brie if I'm really hungry, but it makes me gag after a few bites. rl If you don't know where you're going, you should know where you came from. Gullah Proverb

  10. Attorney review lasts in most states for anywhere from three to five days (longer for new construction), but it can be extended indefinitely by agreement of the parties while they negotiate provisions of the contract. The standard practice for resales in New Jersey is for both attorneys to disapprove the contract, and to then rewrite the contract. Once that's out of the way, the next items that can get a buyer off the hook are a bad pest inspection, structural inspection or failure to get a mortgage within the mortgage contingency period. But if none of those apply, there's about a seventy-five percent chance the seller will be able to keep the deposit and an even smaller chance of being able to compel specific performance of the contract. The law works in mysterious ways. rl If you don't know where you're going, you should know where you came from. Gullah Proverb
  11. I define trolling as "trying to get a rise out of someone." Others define it differently. rl If you don't know where you're going, you should know where you came from. Gullah Proverb
  12. Rhonda - this seems to be the classic response to anything that is failing or screwed up. "We need more money." "Obviously, if we had more money, we would be better at this." So they get more money and things don't improve. "We didn't have enough money." Ad nauseum. What we're doing now is not giving more money to the school system. We're taking it away. I don't see how that's going to improve anything. rl If you don't know where you're going, you should know where you came from. Gullah Proverb
  13. Yes it is. Someone paid for you to go to school. My parents paid taxes. Generally speaking, the taxes paid by a single family are not enough to educate their children even if they have only one child. Your education was subsidized by the taxes of others, some of whom had no children. It is part of being a member of society to see to our collective future. Fine for you, but those of us who have chosen to never have kids are paying for those who do and many of those people are having kids when they cannot afford them in the first place. Those people are putting an unfair burden on the rest of society. You're paying back into what you had the advantage of. Childless people helped pay for you. Now that my daughter is grown, I'm paying to help educate the children of others, some of whom have large families. I can't wrap my mind around that sentence this morning. It must be PMS. rl If you don't know where you're going, you should know where you came from. Gullah Proverb
  14. Isn't that kind of self-centered, Walt? Someone paid for you to go to school. We pay for the education of all children--our own and others--because they are the future. I only had one child. I don't resent helping pay for those who have two or more. That said, I'm not sure I agree with the voucher system. It seems to me that the money is better spent improving the system we have. rl If you don't know where you're going, you should know where you came from. Gullah Proverb
  15. Now I have something else to keep me from my work today. More seriously, this is awesome. Thank you.

  19. No matter what I explain, I'm going to be in trouble with someone somewhere. And that would be okay, except that the single PMS symptom with which I am afflicted is dandelion brain, and if you blew on me right now, I'd scatter. I haven't got it in me, Alex, not this morning. You'll have to do it yourself. rl P.S. It's really disturbing that you just tried to troll me. If you don't know where you're going, you should know where you came from. Gullah Proverb
  20. That's really nice young man...but... what's your name again? He's trolling for more AA posts; don't discourage him. If this example was a day brightener; even higher quality would light up the world. rl If you don't know where you're going, you should know where you came from. Gullah Proverb

  22. I am a jump pilot and have never solicited tips but on occasion I have been tipped by first time tandems. the regulars usually give me beer at the end of the day wich is greatly appreciated. As a manifestor, I was only ever tipped once by a skydiver. I tried to give it back, but he wouldn't take it. Just the idea that a skydiver would tip blew me away.
