As if you were the first person ever sideswiped by the media... I don't celebrate Christmas, or most other holidays, for that matter. When my daughter was little, I did the Christmas gig because it's important to my mother, and there was no way my daughter would understand the disconnect. Over the years, however, she came to understand that it was not something I did because of a particular belief, but because I was indulging both her and her grandmother. I don't do it anymore. Wouldn't a protest of NPS policy also qualify as a "First Amendment Activity"? I can think of few things more directly covered by the intent of the First Amendment than a peaceful protest of government policy. This doesn't answer your question, except by ommission. It's old (2000), but I couldn't find a superseding order. Given the content, I'm not sure there is a deadline: http://www.nps.gov/policy/DOrders/DOrder53.html I haven't had a chance to look elsewhere. Also, having nothing to do with your question at all, I found a provision very similar to the requirement imposed on the BD permit for payment by the permit holder for NPS personnel services. rl If you don't know where you're going, you should know where you came from. As a result of this thread, I had cause to go looking for some old literature on intuition. There are a lot of odd people who would like to tie it to psychic phenomena, but there are others who take a somewhat less foo-foo approach: What's Your Intuition? Cognitive psychologist Gary Klein has studied people who make do-or-die decisions. His advice? Forget analysis paralysis. Trust your instincts. I also have the 1997 article from Science magazine and a PDF file containing the study to which it refers. This is the study that brought intuition out of the realm of the psychic and reawakened the interest of the scientific community in the subject. dude you really need to work on your tracking skills. twelve inches really isn't that far. if you push really really hard you can probably get almost 12" from the tower without tracking at all. If that's how you feel, wouldn't it just be easier to ignore it? Some people obviously have fun with it; who are you to spoil it for them? You don't have to participate, but what you're saying is that because you don't like it, no one should participate. Right to swing stops at end of nose. Oh good grief, no! I'm sorry. I picked this post to reply to because it's the one that said you went back for yours. I got the impression from your post that it was never intended to be more than a temporary measure. In the other guy's case, he just didn't give a shit. Here's an old story. Tina didn't get hurt because she listened to her intuition. I read something a few years ago that explains intuition in very ordinary terms. We all take in a lot more about the world than we're able to process. But when that unprocessed data fits itself together in our unconscious minds, the logical conclusion comes into our conscious minds as intuition. rl If you don't know where you're going, you should know where you came from.
