What's a little blood between friends? Seriously. For thousands of years, men went through rituals where they would cut some part of the body and press it to the body of another man, similarly cut. But a woman's blood? Heaven forfend. Newsflash for the squeamish, it will not shrivel your dick, and it will most definitely prevent hair from growing on your palms. rl If you don't know where you're going, you should know where you came from. Life sucks. Can't you tell? Twenty-four posts (this is #25) in the last 24 hours, one email answered because someone really pissed me off, and one email answered so I could tell a friend exactly how pissed off I am. Edited to add: Oh yeah, one more wherein I made a total, irredeemable fool of myself to someone very important to me. Nothing of quality, nothing of use. I'm guessing your life must be going pretty well if you have the little one to help you post. If babies didn't turn into teenagers, I think I'd have another. A peach? As I posted in that thread, "peach" is just a euphemism for "pain in the ass." Where would one put a peach? rl If you don't know where you're going, you should know where you came from. Gullah Proverb

I knew it...PMS had something to do with it. That was last week. Seriously, though, I was posting less last week than this week. Next theory? If you don't know where you're going, you should know where you came from. Gullah Proverb

I never knew that "peach" is a synonym for "pain in the ass." Learn something new every day. If you don't know where you're going, you should know where you came from. Gullah Proverb

Over the years, I've taken the time to observe both my own posting habits and those of others. When I am happy and feeling normal, I don't post much, but I do email/talk a lot with a very small group of people (and if I'm in love, I generally neglect all but that one person). When I'm unhappy or depressed or both, my posting volume increases exponentially, but I don't answer my email (or my phone). I've noticed a tendency for others to spend more time online when their real lives are lacking something. So how true is it of you that you post more when you're trying to escape the real world and less when your real life is going well? rl If you don't know where you're going, you should know where you came from. I dislike Thanksgiving even more than Christmas. I hate turkey (but my mom always gave me lobster instead, and my first mother-in-law cooked Italian), and without fail, Thanksgiving was a gray, rainy day. It worked out pretty well, because I was always willing to let my daughter's father have her on most of the holidays--it got me off the hook and he got to have the family together. Her stepmother was especially pleased to have all the kids together for the worst of the Hallmark Holidays: Mother's Day. Gak! rl If you don't know where you're going, you should know where you came from. Gullah Proverb

I'm sorry to rain on your "accomplishment," but shoplifting is something we all pay for. And I'm a little weird anyway, I guess--when I make it out of the store with something that hasn't scanned, I go back and pay for it anyway. I once got away with three pieces of Liz Claiborne clothing (ditzy salesclerk), and I called customer service with the SKUs and my charge card number. I tried to keep it as light as possible by use of the emoticon only. No comment at all might have been better, but it bothered me. And now that you're telling me to lighten up, I'm telling you that I think it's not funny and certainly not something I'd brag about in a public forum. rl If you don't know where you're going, you should know where you came from. I sincerely hope you talked to someone (i.e., Mike) about this. It's not standard practice, and it should never happen. And my answer to the original post is: "immediately." There's no excuse for not hunting down and finding an MIA skydiver as soon as s/he is known to be missing. rl If you don't know where you're going, you should know where you came from. Gullah Proverb

Im in love with DK.... Odd Thomas being one of my favorites from him... My favorite is One Door.... There's a passage at the end of the book...not the poem, but what her aunt told her...it's one of the best things I've ever read. If manifest told him to go, and he went off and did something else, there'd be no way for manifest to know he wasn't where he was supposed to be. I've never known DeLand not to send a truck out to the student area when someone is landing there. What I'm saying is, I don't think the problem was manifest. rl If you don't know where you're going, you should know where you came from. Gullah Proverb

Nicotine studied as treatment for brain disorders By Carey Goldberg, Globe Staff, 11/12/2003 Scientists reported yesterday that nicotine seems to diminish mental impairment stemming from stress or an underactive thyroid -- the latest in a growing body of evidence that the long vilified substance may help people with brain disorders ranging from Alzheimer's disease to schizophrenia. ... Check with your local blood donating place again. Mine recently changed the rules. I dutifully sat out the requisite year only to find out that they now are not concerned about tattoos applied by a licensed facility. That would be interesting. What kind of tattoo should I get? rl If you don't know where you're going, you should know where you came from. Gullah Proverb

I can't vote. You forgot the one that says, "I think they're sexy on everyone else (mostly), but I'm not getting one because I donate blood." rl If you don't know where you're going, you should know where you came from. Gullah Proverb

They exist, and nearly everyone responds to them whether they realize it or not. It's the explanation for a lot of really weird relationships, and I think, for some relationship failures. rl If you don't know where you're going, you should know where you came from. Gullah Proverb

For several years, I jumped as often as I could get to the dz. Then I started living on the dz, sold my canopy (had a new one on order and it took longer than planned to come in) and felt like I was too busy in manifest to get on the airplane. When I changed dzs, the latter reason was enough to make me jump only sporadically. Eventually, I left the dropzone and got a real job. I made one jump just before leaving, and I really did think I'd jump again. Major life events intervened, and I sold my gear. In retrospect, I'm pretty sure that not jumping saved my life. From the time I started jumping, I was intermittently ill with a thyroid disorder, the symptoms of which resemble dementia. I was able to function generally...sort of...but there were times when, had I jumped and had even a small problem, I might not have been able to deal with it. In the last two years before I quit jumping, I was sick most of the time, but I made about 50 jumps anyway, all of which were probably a bad idea. I'm healthy now, I see the doctor every three months to stay that way, and recently I've been giving some consideration to jumping again. rl If you don't know where you're going, you should know where you came from. Where do you find out all the extra stuff, other than the basic sign? Uh...I've known for a long time about my rising and moon signs. You need to know your time of birth for those, however. rl If you don't know where you're going, you should know where you came from. Gullah Proverb

I quit jumping mid-2001, and I held onto my gear until mid-2003 because I wasn't entirely certain I was done. I miss jumping, and I miss manifesting (go figure) but there are other things I don't miss at all. Selling one's gear is probably smart if the anticipated layoff is going to be a long one. If I ever do decide to start jumping again, I get to shop for new gear. rl If you don't know where you're going, you should know where you came from. Gullah Proverb

I think he's adorable. rl ObT: "New Jersey: Home, sweet home." The only thing Florida has going for it is the weather. It's a gastronomic wasteland, we have holy rollers on the street corners ("Repent or burn"), the only thing outnumbering the churches are pawn shops, and there is no culture, even in a college town.
