  1. We have done 4 here in Texas on a round robin. Then we ran out of dzs :). Florida guys could do way better.
  2. Yes my logbook is a good read :). I have over 9000 jumps now so even I figured it out. Have another lady at my dz who also took 48 jumps to get off student status. When I do AFF jumps with my students who can't relax I make them smile at me. I always tell them even if it is the most forced smile ever, you can't be too tense if you are smiling :). I also make completely goofy faces at them just to make them laugh. It's all in the relaxing...
  3. Definitely avoid I-10 and west Texas!! Nothing there!!! And the key is to have a REALLY foreign drivers license. We had some Hungarian guys visiting where I used to work and they drove to Las Vegas on vacation and sped like crazy. Every time they got pulled over they pretended to speak no English and handed the cop a Hungarian drivers license. Every single cop decided it was way too difficult to do this paperwork and let them go!!!
  4. http://crwdog.servebeer.com/CRWdog/HowCRW.html Read my student logbook - you are doing way better than I was at the time
  5. Just found out I am a 4th-step cousin to Tiny Broadwicks kids :). Turns out she lived for years in a county in North Carolina where I had a lot of relatives. Tiny's daughter married my grand-aunt's husband's 2nd cousin. I was so excited to find out I was sort of related to Tiny Broadwick!! Such a cool lady!
  6. I think the Pilot opens better and flies nicer than the Sabre 2. I find it easier to shut down and land as well.
  7. And he said it was better than he expected :). How is your bank account looking? Will that used gear you have fit him? (Grin). Good times!
  8. Pasi's page says those 2 in 1975. http://www.skydivehame.com/cf/1975-1976
  9. Ken unfortunately died after a CRW wrap on Saturday. My favorite CRW incident ever involved Ken :-) Probably around 2000 or so - we went to Elsinore for the day because Perris was still finishing up Nationals. It was Friday the 13th, we were on the 13th Otter Load of the day to 13k, and when Ken docked 13th, the formation went to shit (not his fault). Ken and I ended up having a double cutaway. Good times.. I also remember showing up at the Tokyo Skydiving center and seeing a Ken Oka pull-up cord tied to a random gear bag. I had to laugh... His pull-up cords will live on forever.. BSBD Ken..
  10. Got up to 9045 once I figured out you could spin the scene!
  11. Fun game I got 7164 on my 3rd attempt.
  12. Actually the first cell phone studies were done back before the days of smart phones and they really were just talking Actually I went to a couple websites. For a 130 pound female 2 beers in an hour or 2 glasses of wine websites were putting me at between .05 and .07.
  13. Do you propose similar felony charges for talking on cell phones? Multiple studies have shown that talking on cell phones is equivalent to a BAC of .08 or so in reaction time. 2 beers or glasses of wine puts me over .05. That isn't much at all. All I think this law would do would be give a lot more people criminal records..
  14. Good luck! I only have 8-10 jumps on a Storm 97 and never pulled off a stand up landing. Tried all sorts of things people said worked - never did figure it out!
  15. Lots of reflexes - they used to call them c-flexes - with flaps on the top and bottom covering the pop top which prevents line snag. That being said - I have about 2500 CRW jumps on my racers and have never had a single snag problem. ( tho I must say that I snag lines far more on it after landing than ever ever in the air!)
  16. And it's not that hard to pull the slider down over unstowed brakes. I discovered that when I started re-lining my canopies with Dacron for softer openings, that I could no longer pull my slider down without I stowing the brakes first. The extra bulk when it was stowed was just too much. For the first 2-3 times it was weird, but now it's every bit as simple as doing it with the brakes stowed. And loosening your chest strap before unstowing your brakes is just madness....
  17. I was so sad to hear of his passing. He was a lot of fun to be around. It broke my heart to watch Lyal have to talk to the news about him. Bsbd....
  18. That was the same malfunction - stuck slider because of the slider tab - that I had for my first cutaway back in 1994!!! Yes I'm old :) I didn't pack it so I'm not sure how mine happened.,..
  19. Yes. With particular emphasis on the tighter sized fits....a
