  1. Big canopies come down slower for sure. And the crwdogs do live it up there as well!!
  2. There is also my dz at skydive temple just north of Austin. We are fun dz and we should have a caravan by Halloween.
  3. It's a country song but I like love at 90 miles an hour. It's a fun song
  4. Crazy videos. I had seen video from the base jump from the airplane but only from the ground.
  5. On a Mac if you move files to the trash but don't empty the trash while it's connected it doesn't actually delete the files but moves them to a different trash folder. I use the format function on my camera to make sure everything is actually deleted.
  6. We would love to help you. Definitely talk to the Colorado guy and get any advice from him that you can. Also a brand new wind tunnel should be opening in Austin in December/January so that will be awesome I'm helping you learn how to fly somewhat asymmetrically. I remember you - is it your left arm that you are missing? In which case you can do a normal main deployment and will just have to change the reserve procedures. Our dzos brother-in-law lost an arm in vietnam and did thousands of jumps afterwards. But the wind tunnel about to open will be an awesome help to you in learning to fly. If you can't wait till this winter, hit the wind tunnel in Denver while you are in Colorado. It will help you start figuring out how to balance and fly. Look forward to jumping with you! Wendy
  7. You might look into doing crw too. It's all about flying your parachute but with friends :). England has some good crwdogs for sure.
  8. Ditto on finding abetted rigger. Racers are not hard to pack if you have ever bothered to learn how. And the reserves open very fast. There is nothing wrong with racers other than you may have to put up with ignorant people talking smack.
  9. I have 8s which work fine. Haven't tried bigger
  10. For crw it makes it less snaggable in a wrap - less likely for a line to snag it and hang up.
  11. Been used on crw rigs as well for years.
  12. Perhaps if you fill out your profile so it appears that you are a real person and not a scam artist it might help.. Scam artists normally don't have any info on their profile.
  13. Our address is on our website, but on our directions page we specify not to follow our gps! We are off of the access road of an interstate highway, but most gps still take folks 7 miles south.
  14. When I lived in Austin, every time I wen to the DMV it was a half a day affair. Lines were horrendous. It's a couple hours in a more rural area now, but still a lot for a 94 lady who probably doesn't drive and would have no need for an id other than to vote. The dmv never had nearly enough seating either. If you don't fly on airlines, look old enough to buy alcohol, don't drive, and don't write checks, you don't really have much need for a picture id.
  15. I just ordered one today to replace my aging t1i. Hope to get to use it soon!!!!
  16. I like the contour much better than the go pro. ( and they are quite popular in my neck of the woods). most go pro mounts scare me!
  17. I've seen it a couple times and mine werent any of the ones uspa mentions. So I suspect it's happened even more. I never saw it happening until the fad in recent years of covering the pin with the bridle - that's why I always leave my pin off to the side of the bridle.
  18. Laugh. We have a picture of my DZO on the wall of his first jump back in 1976. The 3 of them in the picture are all also covering their reserve handle!!! Laugh. His buddy who convinced him to do his first jump to impress a girl came back to the dz a couple years ago and did a tandem :).
  19. I have 5-600 jumps on a diablo 88 and love how they fly. I always got nice swoops out of it. I would not recommend it for a beginner though. It is twitchy. But for someone experienced it's a lot of fun. And triathlons and diablos can be swooped - come in with front risers and they will surf. Just need to treat the canopy like the 7 cell that is is and not a 9 cell which it isn't.
  20. If you go to skydive midwests website they have an app which lets you enter the winds aloft and ground winds and it will do the math. We've been using it for a couple years now and it works quite well.
  21. Locarno and emporiabrava are both awesome
  22. We will definitely miss Ed. He wasn't looking too good the last time I saw him. I'm really sad to hear of his passing.
  23. When I had 42 jumps I was still on student status :). There are 2 of us at my dz who took 48 jumps to get off of student status!! And we learned 2 different methods at 2 different DZs 15 years apart :). So if you are off student status you are way ahead of where I was at your number of jumps!!!
  24. I've been told that the freefall storm flares quite a bit better than the crw storm so that may be the reason.
