Ya think? Karasik gets today's "Captain Obvioius" award. No wonder I couldn't find them things in at Best Buy. Jeez. which implies a us/israel assassination... You finally got something right......... which implies the war has already begun... Where have you been, Sherlock? I acceded/posted that headline weeks ago. Since I'm not an official spokesperson for either government, you'll have to wait for the formal Declaration. Probably not too far off in the future. My advice to Iranians still holds. Head north or east. Get behind a mountain range, and dig in. EDIT: In answer to an EM. The deeper the cave, the better. my advice is to stock up on oil. and the chinese won't be too happy to lend you more money just to waste on fancy fireworks... I say that the Chinese will be right there waiting to jump on any part of Iran they can get their hands on. You misjudge the Chinese. Research Chinese Politburo, and educate yourself. As far as oil..... Let the US worry about it's reserves. If need be, I have zero doubt that the US would mop the floor with Hugo Chavez if oil became reaaaaaaallllyyyyy scarce. Have you ever actually looked at a map in a strategic/tactical manner? The answers are right in front of your nose. so you're gambling on chinese approval... (and that the war will go well - just like vietnam and afghanistan) Neither of which has oil. war is war - to lose is to lose... Whatever that is supposed to mean... China gets a great deal of it's oil from Iran. They would have to choose between maintaining their current relationship with Iran by opposing the US or stepping back and letting the US "liberate Iran for them and thus gaining a greater foothold.

I agree, open carry is much more of a deterent. I discussed this principle with a Hillsborough County Deputy. His opinion was that if the bad guys see any sign that you may be carrying a firearm, they will take it away from you. He emphasized his statement with, "Don't ever think they won't." However, if the majority of folks on the street are displaying open carry it might be a different story. I disagree with the Sheriff. If concealed carry in itself is a deterrrent as most proponents state, then why wouldn't it be a deterrent from someone trying to take a gun away from someone who open carries? His point, at least in the Tampa Bay Area, was that they will attack as a gang with gang tactics. He had no major problem with concealed carry, just don't advertise it and become a target of opportunity to steal your weapon. I think there are times whenopen carry has it's advantages and times when concealed is better. If you were in a restaurant and there were 4 other people who were all open carrying, it would be more of a deterrent than concealed carry. I seriously doubt a criminal would look for a confrontation with 4 people. OTOH a criminal might be more inclined to rob a restaurant if he didn't see anyone with a gun. I would also add that from a seated position, it's more difficult to draw a weapon that's concealed than one not concealed. In the case you describe, yes, concealed might be better.

Your standard demonizing of anything you disagree with as "left wing" is a sorry substitute for adult-level thought and analysis. Which is often off-set by your bashing of anything Republican or right-wing. looked in the mirror lately?

Ya think? Karasik gets today's "Captain Obvioius" award. No wonder I couldn't find them things in at Best Buy. Jeez. which implies a us/israel assassination... Are you implying that a winner of the Nobel Peace Prize would be involved in something like this? or dragged into something like this... Right, I forgot, he's just a hapless victim whenever he does something that doesn't jive with his minions. you're assuming that israel and every element of the us intelligence apparatus is a minion of the president... He's in charge, he owns the responsibility. Do you know what the expression "The Buck Stops Here" means? so israel or rogue elements of the us intelligence service should decide whether we go to war or not. if the president hasn't ordered these assassinations presumably you would want - along with him - whoever is doing the killings to stop it... You can't seriously believe that this is being done by rouge elements within the U.S. and Israeli governments. I don't want Iran to have a nuclear weapon and if this prevents that without having to resort to a shooting war, then so be it. whether it's rogue or not - you're happy for the us to be terrorists... It's rogue elements within the US and Israel, remember?

Nobody I know would support someone with this type of violent history being allowed to purchase a gun.

Since the majority of fossil fuels are used for automobiles and heating, the only viable alternative at this point is nuclear. But of course most left-wing environmentalists oppose this and for that reason. Are you willing to risk something similar to what happened in Japan? Do you think we should be building more Nuke plants in California? No other energy sources are viable nor do any of them show any signs of being so anytime in the near future.

Hmmm, sounds like the GOP's "Buffett Plan" for voluntary taxation here. I guess the GOP want the USA to go the way of Greece. As opposed to the *ACTUAL* "I won't pay more unless gov't forces me to" Buffett rule? UPDATE: Warren Buffett has pledged to match 1 for 1 all such voluntary contributions made by Republican members of Congress. “And I’ll even go 3 for 1 for McConnell,” he says. That could be quite a bill if McConnell takes the challenge; after all, the Senator is worth at least $10 million. As Buffett put it to me, “I’m not worried.” Read more: swampland.time.com/2012/01/11/warren-buffett-to-mitch-mcconnell-put-up-or-shut-up/#ixzz1jD7M9K18 It isn'y Republicans screaming they don't pay enough in taxes. They scream enough about the deficit, but apparently won't do anything about it even when a match is on offer. If I were them, I'd counter with an offer to contribute based on a ratio of spending cuts.

Transition to what?

How can this be? It's all been peer reviewed, published in 11 "Scientific Journals" But of course, why should faulty research have any impact? It's just a little boo boo. Not like it happens all the time.

I wouldn't say he's destroyed it but I'm hard pressed to see anything positive he's done to inspire confidence in the financial markets.

I've never claimed it was all Bush's fault. I don't think he helped anything, but that doesn't mean it was "all Bush's fault". I think it is undeniable that the war in Iraq was not good for the budget. It's also undeniable that any influence Bush may have had started 11 years ago. Obama's influence started 3 years ago, so the immediacy of the effect is certainly a factor. I think a President has less influence than many blame him for and more influence than others give him credit for. Certainly wars have a huge effect on the economy but so do a lot of other things that are beyond the control of a President. So I think that to ignore that fact is pretty stupid. OTOH insecurities in the marketplace due to proposed overhauls in healthcare, taxes, and social policies also have some effect on the economy. Even how people feel emotionally about the future can have a huge impact. Blaming everything on any single person whether they are a President or Hedgefund Manager etc. or any single policy is pretty lame.

Looks like we read different periodicals. Many interviews with successful business executives show that Obama is having a pernicious effect on the economy due to lots of ill defined laws that will require a "wise judge" to interpret. Who's going to make long term plans with that in place, especially when those "wise judges" hate rich people? No one. Once this administration is gone, the uncertainty should be removed, and the capital will come off the sidelines. Interesting how we have gone from "Bush got us into this mess, it's all Bush'e fault" to "You are stupid if you think the President has an immediate effect on the economy".

I agree. I'm pretty sure that of all the crimes commited annually that involve the use of a handgun that it's a pretty small percentage in which a shot is fired by the criminal. With the exception of drugged out crack heads and a few nutters, I think most criminals do not want a confrontation.
