Received Message on Presidential Hubris
Gravitymaster replied to RonD1120's topic in Speakers Corner
You do realize that Osama was trained by the CIA under the Reagan administration? If you want to find blame for his creation, look to our foreign policies. If you want to find a President to blame, blame Reagan. Ian I blame Osamas mama. -

Too bad Clinton didn't order Special Forces to pull the trigger the half dozen or so times they literally had him in the cross hairs. Of course, then 911 would never have happened and Obama couldn't take credit for making the call. I guess you could say Clinton helped with Obamas re-election attempt. -

Groundskeeper Fired After Turning In Gun He Found
Gravitymaster replied to JohnRich's topic in Speakers Corner
I notice how none of the people who voted "fire him" have the courage to come forth and explain their position... Doesn't surprise me. Hahahahaha, sez the dude with no profile info Yep and many of us who have posted here for a while have seen several cases where someone got pissed off and crossed a line by going outside of this website and making trouble for posters. Anyone who wants to know my name or anything else about me can PM me and I will be happy to share that information as long as I don't think you are a kook. BTW there are a few people I would put in that catagory. -
Remote prisons are not secure. Many people walked away from gulags in Russia or from other remote high security prison camps. And the fact they did it, means that these dangerous people would be free to attack society again. The purpose of the justice system is to protect society -- if they can;t be rehabilitate (and many can't), and they're liable to kill or commit other violent crime -- kill em first. How many whos escaped gulags in Russia went on to murder innocent people? Most who are in prison for murder in which they would qualify for the death penaly, are not psychotic killers. Many are in for killing a cheating spouse, gang related murders and drug related murders. It does not necessarily follow that if they escaped from prison, were able to cross hundreds of miles of frozen Alaskan tundra. that they would go ao a psychotic killing spree as soon as they made it back to civilization. Besides that, they could easily be tagged with an RF transmitter inside their bodies so that if they were able to escape, they would be easy to find.

Just a guess, but maybe Right Wing Conservatives? Knowing the OP's history on here, I'd say it's likely a little more vulgar than that. The question still remains, is Safeway run by these RWC's?
-
i wasn't aware that Safeway was run by RWC's.
-
Sorry, I fail to see what this has to do with RWC (whatever that is supposed to stand for).

Those irish and italians are pretty good at this organized crime stuff as well. They should be tossed out...all of them. You sound like you think we're picking on illegal aliens. How clean is your backyard in the frozen North? Chuck I'd give up Chuck. These city boys have no idea what farmers and ranchers in Texas are going through with these illegals squatting on their property. Killing their livestock, trashing everything etc.

Obama (finally) declares support for same-sex marriage.
Gravitymaster replied to Shotgun's topic in Speakers Corner
Right, because that wasn't what I was arguing. I wasn't confining my question to the context of the conversation. I was commenting about the posters history in general. -
And as usual, you take no position and prefer to simply sit back and take jabs at those who do. Let's hear your 'logical" reasoning for a change.

Obama (finally) declares support for same-sex marriage.
Gravitymaster replied to Shotgun's topic in Speakers Corner
Because he lives in a predominantly christian country and is discussing the issue with people from predominantly christian countries. Oh, that's right, I forgot that in your world Islam is that religioin those little brown people in the Middle East believe in. Not something those of us in the rest of the world are exposed to. -
I don't quite understand how you could think someone confined to a high security prison in a remote area of Alaska could pose a danger to society. Please explain.
-
No prob.

Life in prison at hard labor I consider as repayment to society for crimes. The death penalty is revenge. Revenge is never the best option. It brings us down to the level of the murderer (since that's mainly what we are talking about).
-
Why are you directing this at me?
-
Doesn't have to be a magical answer. Just treat prisoner the way they used to be treated. Life at hard labor. No gyms, no cable, no nothing. Get up, work all day, eat sleep, do it again. Perhaps when prisoners who do get out after 20 years for less heinous crimes start talking about life in prison, it will have something of a "scared straight" effect. I'm not suggesting prisoners be treated inhumanely. I don't want them raped, beaten or starved. I just think this is a better idea than putting them to death after 20 years on death row and hundreds of thousands of dollars spent on appeals. At least if new evidence comes to light at a later date, we haven't taken their life.

Nurse refuses student inhaler during asthma attack
Gravitymaster replied to wayneflorida's topic in Speakers Corner
Today they are huffing on inhalers. What next? Popping antihistamines? This flagrant drug use must be stopped. -
The intellectual honesty of the environmental movement
Gravitymaster replied to brenthutch's topic in Speakers Corner
Actually, that's what you are talking about because you need to narrow it down to that degree to make your point. Go back and read what the OP said and ask if your analogy fits. -
I am opposed to the death penalty even for the most heinous of crimes. I do not believe anyone is "authorized" to take another persons life regardless of the reason. However, I am also against allowing someone to languish in a Federal Prison only to become a member of a gang or a drug dealer. I think we should have a "special place" for those convicted of evil crimes. My suggestion would be a very remote area of Alaska where they should be sentenced to a life of hard labor and their lives should be dedicated to actually paying for their crimes by reparations to the families of their victims and/or in some way contributing to society. I also believe in life sentences without the possibility of parole.

If a Master Rigger who hasn't made a jump in 20 years tells me something about my parachute system, I don't just dismiss it out of hand without serious consideration. I would find his advice much more valid than the current skydiver with 100 jumps and no rigging experience. -
I hear people who watch the ABC networks say pretty asinine thing, too. I don't think it's necessarily because of the TV channel they watch.
